Stayed at the Brisa Sol with my husband at the beginning of October for seven nights on a self catering basis. Like other reviews, the location is great - 10 mins to the old town and beach, and around 15 minutes to the Strip and the noddy train stops right outside the hotel. There is also a bus stop outside the hotel to take you to Vilamoura and Faro. The bus station is around a 20 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel facilities are a good standard but there were a few things we were disappointed with. We stayed in room 313, very spacious but the bed is rock hard. It was so hard that my husband had a bad back for the duration of our holiday. We complained to reception to see if we could change our room but we were informed that all the beds are the same - we know this isn't true as others said they had very comfortable beds. There is no way the bed in 313 can be described as comfortable. You sit on it and the springs hardly move. The main light in room 313 also doesn't work - but it randomly came on, on it's own one night but then never came back on again. The A/C unit is a bit noisy but it didn't bother us too much. The shower was very powerful and we had towels changed daily, although the towels could be better quality. We didn't use the pool at all as we like to go to different places each day and do something different. We did have a snack at the poolside bar on arrival. We ordered a chicken salad which isn't the normal chicken salad you would expect - it was pieces of chicken with pineapple, melon, apple, egg and grapes covered in mayonnaise. no lettuce, tomato etc. The menu did not have a description of what the salad would consist of. We only ate in the hotel restaurant once and chose meals from the main menu, not the daily buffet special. We were a bit disappointed in the quality of the food as it was covered in rock salt and was too salty for our taste. We were glad we didn't go half board as the buffet menu seemed very repetitive with the rotation of the choice for soup, meat and fish dishes. There are positives to the hotel and would say it is a good hotel with good facilities and we were happy with everything else the hotel offered apart from the things mentioned above. We personally feel replacing the hard mattress and making a few more improvements to the room would make it the four star standard we had paid for. We enjoyed the Thomson Western Wonders VIP excursion and was a nice addition to our holiday.

Arrived at Brisa Sol around 12pm. Room not ready but told it would be in about 1 hour and it was ready when we went back to Reception. Had a nice meal around the Pool whilst waiting for room so gave us chance to relax and have a cold drink. Room did not have pool view but we didn't mind. It overlooked the hotel car park/side street but we could see the sea over the rooftops and it was nice quiet on that side of the hotel. Our room was no. 03 which was just off Reception so did not have to keep using the lifts. Really pleased with the apartment. Very spacious and nicely furnished with good kitchen area. Found all the Staff very helpful and pleasant. Although some guests still reserved sunbeds - even when we went down to the pool about 10/10.30am there was always sunbeds parasols to choose from particularly during our 2nd week. The cake shop attached to the hotel does have lovely cakes as mentioned by other guests but they also do good meals and Staff there also very pleasant. It does get used regularly by the locals so thats a good recommendation! Very handy to have the big supermarket which is almost next door so no need to struggle far with the shopping as we were self catering. Good choice of restaurants to choose from in the immediate locality of the hotel if you do not want to go down into the Town. Once in Town though you are spoilt for choice as regards restaurants. We had good meals at all the restaurants we used both by the hotel itself and those used within the Town. Excellent beach but it is quite a steep drop into the sea and it was a bit choppy when we were there so did not actually go in for a swim but there were lots of people swimming. We went upto the Strip one night to eat as we were told that if you go upto the Strip and go to the left there were quite a few restaurants up there and it was the quieter side. We found a nice restaurant and again had a good meal. We used the Noddy train a few times during our 1st week which takes you upto the Strip and then down into Town but the 2nd week we nearly always walked into Town which only took us about 10 minutes. We had a great 2 weeks holiday and will certainly go back to Brisa Sol again sometime in the future. We used the self check in Passport Control both going into out of Faro airport so it was much quicker than standing in the long queues. I would thoroughly recommend Brisa Sol Albufeira. There were no negatives for us regarding our 2 weeks stay.
