stayed at hotel esmareldas, the staff were fantastic the food great and plenty of choices all served in a very clean hotel dinning room i have no faults at all with this hotel what so ever .Tj the rep was fantastic too worth her weight in gold and the enterainment rep was fab too. Tossa de mar is a great place lots of places to see all within a local bus ride away and everyone is so friendly which helps make a perfect holiday... for what we paid for 1 week half board i find this was a fantastic deal and being in the hotel trade my self couldnt have found the same back home in the uk . so well done all of you at the esmareldas and Tj who is fantastic ,, judith and norman from lancaster see you all soon in september

We visited Tossa De Mar Golden Bahia hotel last year as a family of three and it was a wonderful experiance. My daughter had just turned 16 so it was an awkward time as she was ready to go on holiday with friends, but she loved it and is now coming back with us next year. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is great and everyone is so friendly, its a mixed group of all ages and my daughter was quite lonely the first few days but then instantly made friends with a big group all her age and all lovely characters. The food within the hotel is mixed, some nights they can have a great menu and you dont know what to choose, but other nights it can be quite bland, but over all the food was generally nice. There is alot to do in Tossa de mar in general as it is quite a large place, we particularly enjoyed the excursion into Barcelona where we went shopping. The nightlife isnt wild but its nice and it mainly involves bars rather than clubs, although there are two clubs within Tossa de mar itself. If you are wanting a more student based holiday visit Lloret. Over all we had a lovely holiday and we will be re-visiting this year for definite. Hope its a good one!

We visited Tossa several years running in the nineties and fell in love with it. After a gap of 4 years we returned this year to find massive new blocks of flats and even bigger hotels everywhere. It seems the town is changing into another Lloret ... certainly we were kept awake every night by noisy drunks in the streets - which is a great shame. I don't know whether it was Thomsons or the hotel management who took the Mare Nostrum off the Small & Friendly list, but since it happened there has been a change in attitude there too. Thomson departure times mean you have to pack up & leave your room by the regulation 10am but don't get your coach until about 10pm - so it always used to be possible to use a spare room temporarily/have a shower etc. No more! glared at for daring to suggest it ... Excursions - Thomson now only offer the same few excursions as all the local travel agents do - Barcelona, Montserrat, Medieval Night - when they used to be many more. An especially good one was a tour of the local countryside taking in Gerona, Besalu, Lake Banyoles, various wineries etc. No more! Excellent local bus service still there though, to Lloret, Blanes, Barcelona, Gerona etc. Recommend the Tossa restaurants maintaining their usual excellence - Bar Luisa, Chez Igor, Dino's - all well worth looking for. Excellent Italian sorbets & ices on the seafront near the castle walls. There are also 2 roadtrains now, one to save you the climb up to the castle and the other to tour round the town. The Lighthouse or Faro at the top has also been developed and gives you a fantastic lookout point over the sea and a small cafe for drinks & icecreams. Hope you enjoy your stay ...

we stayed at the esmeraldas it was our second time there and loved every minute the staff are so friendly the location for me was ideal far enough to walk to beach and shops but far enough away from the noise of the evening the old town should not be missed with its old characteristic features i cant praise it enough and its not over expensive i will deffinately book to go again.
