Getting to/from the airport

By Bus

The most popular way to get around is by an ‘Aluguer’ – these vehicles tend to be minibuses. They don’t frequent the airport too often, but they’re popular travelling between towns.
You usually have to wait until the vehicle is full before departure.
The journey time to Sal Rei takes about 15 minutes and to Rabil is about 5 minutes.
The average fare is about 200-300 CVE.
It is recommended to negotiate a price before setting off.

Taxis are available from outside the arrivals terminal and are mainly pick-up trucks.

Book a flight to Boa Vista and you’ll touch down in Rabil. Once the central hub, it’s now a sleepy little place that serves as a gateway to the rest of the island. First stop is the capital, Sal Rei. The journey is five minutes by ‘aluguer’, or public minibus. The locals cluster around the main square, and the streets leading off it are lined with restaurants and cafés. But the main reason people book a flight to Boa Vista is for the island’s coastline, and it’s well worth the trip. Top of the list is Curralinho in the south. Better known as Santa Monica, this one is considered to be the biggest and best in Cape Verde.
