An audience with Victoria Hislop entertains Thomson holidaymakers

As part of Thomson’s enhanced entertainment offering over Summer 2009, international best selling Author, Victoria Hislop, last week visited Thomson’s flagship 5 star, Sensatori Resort, Crete. The ‘An Audience With… Victoria Hislop’ event saw the author talk about her career via a unique ‘meet and greet’ event in front of over 150 hotel guests.

This was the last in a series of events that took place over Summer 2009, which saw a host of stars from screen and stage entertain guests at a selection of Thomson’s Mediterranean resorts. Olympic swimmer and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Mark Foster, magician Paul Daniels, and West End star Jenna Lee-James are just a few of the well-known names who’ve bought glitz and glamour to Thomson’s holiday offering over Summer 2009.

At Sensatori Crete, Victoria Hislop provided insight into many aspects of her illustrious career over the course of a ‘chat show’ style production, including how she found the inspiration to write her much loved and most popular novel, The Island, made all the more relevant by the fact that the setting for the novel is just a stones throw away on the island of Spinalonga. The day culminated with a reading from Victoria’s recently published tome, The Return and a book signing session.

The ‘An Audience with… Victoria Hislop’ event was an overwhelming success, and similar events are set to Return next year across Thomson’s portfolio of Sensatori and Gold hotels.

It won the Richard and Judy ‘Summer Read’ competition and Victoria was voted best newcomer in the Galaxy Book Awards in 2007.
