Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways adopt new baggage allowance for 2009

Free infant baggage allowance of 10kg

New baggage allowance for Thomson and First Choice

Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways, which together form the third largest airline in the UK, are adopting a new baggage allowance policy, which will make travelling for families with young children much easier.

With plenty of experience in transporting families, Thomson and First Choice understands the challenges of travelling with small children. As a result, its summer 2009 brochure – which is already on sale – includes the introduction of a complimentary baggage allowance of 10kg (22Ibs) per infant*. The new policy will come into effect on all Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways flights departing on or after 1 May 2009.

Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways already offer passengers a generous allowance of 25kg combined hand and hold luggage – one of the most competitive in the industry. In addition, the carriage of infant pushchairs and buggies is free of charge and does not count as part of the parents’ baggage allowance on flights.

Alan Pugh, Head of Product at Thomson and First Choice, commented: “We understand the difficulties of travelling with small children and take on holiday more than 7.5 million customers each year. Introducing a free infant baggage allowance will make air travel easier and more enjoyable for the many young families that travel with us.”

*An infant is any child under the age of 2 years.
