Find out more about our Thomson Development Programme.
Who are we? TUI UK is the largest tourism company in the UK. We are the UK's leading holiday company which is a position we have held consistently for over 30 years. We sell millions of holidays each year through Thomson and its sister brands. We are constantly moving forward to ensure we are market leaders and are always one step ahead of the competition.
Within your first week with at TUI, you'll be performing a role in one of our key Divisions. There will be a structured programme but you will do much of your learning 'on the job' supported by your colleagues and a manager who will be a specialist in their area.
There will also be development opportunities to help improve your generic skills and you will visit other areas of the company, which will broaden your knowledge of the business and the industry, helping you to succeed in your role. Work related projects will be set which relate to live issues within your department. Regular reviews will be held with your manager which will give you the opportunity to discuss your progress and aspirations and the objectives you will need to achieve. On successful completion of the programme, you will have a role in the Division you have been based in.
Most of the Divisions taking part in the programme are based in our Head Office near Luton Airport, but we have offices all over the country so there is an expectation that you'll spend time in other locations, predominantly our Coventry base. There will also be an opportunity to work in a Thomson shop and you may get to experience life behind the scenes overseas. In return, we offer a competitive starting salary with great benefits including holiday concessions and a Company pension scheme.

The Finance Division is an integral element of the Company with responsibility for meeting the accounting, reporting, management information and financial processing needs of TUI UK. Finance is organised into teams which support the tour operating, distribution, head office and airline functions of the business, and our key priority is to ensure that all areas are provided with timely and accurate information to enable the right decisions to be made on a daily basis.
Planning & Trading
Planning is all about creating a wide range of mainstream and specialist holidays for our discerning customers. We are split into teams which specialise in geographic areas, and make decisions on which hotels to feature in our programme, what the brief for purchasing requirements should be, and what price should be in the brochure. Trading focuses on the concept of effective yield management, which means selling the right product, to the right customer, at the right time, for the right price, through the correct distribution channel.
Thomson Airways is made up of four key areas: Cabin Services, Operations, Engineering and The Flight Safety Team, which together ensure our customers receive the highest quality of service on every flight. Operations are the heart of the airline managing our flights 24/7 and working with our professional team of pilots, training teams, and the Airport Services Team, all based at our UK airports. Engineering maintain our fleet of Boeing Aircraft to the highest standard. And finally, the Flight Safety Team support the airline behind the scenes, ensuring the safety of our passengers and maintaining our excellent flight record.
The IT Division is split into several different areas but the programme will be run within the Web Development Team. We are responsible for creating and building the TUI UK online presence. The continued development of the leading travel website www.thomson.co.uk is vital as people grow more at ease with online booking and tailor making their own holiday experience. We are multi-skilled and work in a busy and lively environment, predominately based at our Coventry office.
