Top Places to Party in Greece

There's an urban myth surrounding Rhodes - it's got more bars, discos and clubs per person than New York, Paris and Berlin. Okay, it may be a little wide of the truth but there's certainly plenty going on come sundown. The up-for-it crowd hotfoot it to Faliraki, which has enough flashing neon to give Vegas a run for its money.

Greece's answer to Ibiza, it's made up of two main strips, nicknamed Bar Street and Club Street. The latter's packed with drinking dens, but the king of the strip has to be the infamous Ziggy's Bar. If you've been there before, you'll know why it's referred to as 'infamous'. One word - fishbowl. As for Club Street, it's jam-packed with party venues offering sounds of every kind. If we're talking commercial house and pop, the Q Club's where it's at. For something a bit tougher, check out the popular Bed club. Host to a regular Miss Moneypenny's night, this place offers plenty in the way of top London DJs pumping out a funky yet less commercial sound. Not far from Faliraki is Rhodes Town. Head for the new town - it's got somewhere in the region of 600 discos and bars. Most of them are centred around Top Street and the aptly-named Street of Bars.

If you're among the party people who pick Zakynthos for dance-a-thon nights and sleep-it-off days, there's little doubt where you'll be heading for - Laganas. Its long and ever-lengthening strip stretches inland from the beach in a big, brash line-up of pubs, clubs and neon-lit bars. Some start at dusk and go on 'til dawn. Others go right round the clock. Like Amnesia. This is where serious clubbers come to throw some shapes. You're more likely to hear the furious hard house of Lisa Pin Up and Lisa Lashes than the smooth grooves of house, so get ready to party well into the next day.

For something a little less hardcore, the Rescue Club offers cocktails under the stars. Their chilled-out funk drips from the speakers like audio valium - cool, calm and relaxing. Just the ticket if you're nursing a sore head from the night before. Elsewhere, Tsilivi offers up a hot mix of nightspots where you can don your killer heels and dance the night away. Check out the G&J Sports Action bar for a stylish crowd, funky sounds and the latest sports on the big screen. And Zakynthos Town has music bars and discos stretching down the Argassi road.
