Latin dancing holidays
Latin dances are performed all over the world both socially and competitively, and cover some of the more well-known dance styles such as salsa, samba, rumba and cha cha. Usually performed by couples, Latin dancing is great fun for both dancers and spectators. Flashy costumes, fast feet and the sight of two dancers whirling around the floor together is a fantastic sight - not to mention great fun to be a part of!
Both the salsa and rumba have roots in the Caribbean, particularly Cuba, with strong African influences. Both are a fast-paced affair with exaggerated hip and body movements, sometimes combining changes of partner, improvisation and solo dancing. Another popular Latin dance - the samba - was born out of Brazil, and there it became famous as a dance to accompany street festivals, most notably the street parades in Rio. From there it became known throughout the world and is now enjoyed by many. And not just on top of a moving float...
