It's easy to see how the Hard Rock Hotel earned its spot on a Conde Nast Gold List of the 'World's Best Places To Stay'. For a start, the outside is impressive. With its whitewashed walls and temple-like domes, it looks more like a palace than a hotel. And the guitar-themed fountain in front of the entrance is just a taste of things to come. Step inside and you'll be transported into a world of rock'n'roll. Just take the lobby for example. Decorated with a saxophone chandelier and music memorabilia, this marble space is fit for a rock star.

Then there's the food and drink to think about. Everything comes with a side order of rock here, too. In the Velvet Lounge, the loft-like space is filled with zebra-print chairs and funky yellow and red stools – the perfect setting for the hotel's monthly cocktail party where some of the world's hottest bands take to the floor. In Emack and Bolio's Marketplace, award-winning ice-cream comes in flavours inspired by music legends like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. And in the aptly-named Kitchen, comfort food with a southern twist is served in a look-a-like pop stars' kitchen. Cue studio-style lighting rigs, stainless steel table tops and an open-fronted show kitchen.

As for the bedrooms, they look like something out of an interiors magazine. A modern chocolate and cream colour scheme is brought to life by splashes of lime and teal. The furniture is a little on the wacky side with star-shaped footstools and wavy metalwork. And rockabilly touches come in the shape of shower taps that look like musical notes. In-room high-spec technology includes 32-inch flatscreen TVs and integrated entertainment systems. Factor in 300-thread-count bed linen and super-soft bathrobes, and you've got luxurious base for your Florida holiday.

It doesn't end there either. To the back of the hotel, you'll find a massive pool area. Set into a roomy palm-speckled sun terrace, it comes complete with a sandy beach, underwater speakers, interactive fountains and a snaking waterslide. Not to mention the Beach Club pool bar and private poolside cabanas – there's even a couple of themed cabanas to choose from, such as The Beatles' Yellow Submarine. Better still, it's just a 5-minute walk from the pool to the centre of the resort, so the whole of Universal Resort Orlando is at your fingertips.
