Sitting in one of the best spots on I-Drive, this motel is perfectly placed for getting to grips with Florida’s best bits.

When you’re staying in Orlando, location is everything. And the world’s biggest Econo Lodge Inn has certainly picked a prime spot. It sits on International Drive, right at the heart of Florida’s theme park action. It’s just minutes away from SeaWorld Orlando® and Universal Orlando®. Plus the delights of Walt Disney World Resort are a 20-minute drive away – a journey made easy by the motel’s shuttle service. Theme parks aside, it’s within walking distance of Pointe Orlando, an all-American mall packed with shops, restaurants and a 21-screen cinema. So keeping the troops entertained won’t be a problem here. Taking pride of place in the middle of the motel is a large, Y-shaped swimming pool. Fringed by sunbeds and parasols, it comes complete with an outdoor whirlpool bath and a poolside snack bar. Not to mention a separate children’s pool where your little ones can swim in safety. Inside, they’ve kept things simple. Squishy leather sofas, tasselled rugs and potted palms add a touch of old world charm to an otherwise minimalist lobby. And there’s more of the same fuss-free design in the bedrooms. The beds are dressed in tropical brights and extras like cable TV, hairdryers and ironing boards come as standard. All in all, a good value hotel that’s a great base.

Give the Wonder Works and Ripley's Believe It Or Not parks a go while you’re here too. And if you exhaust this lot, the other ‘big ones’ like Walt Disney World Resort are just a few minutes away.
