Maybe it's the tanned surfers, or perhaps the funky live music wafting from the pier at weekends that gives Cocoa Beach its youthful ambiance. Whatever your age, you'll feel younger and more carefree after a week strolling along the sidewalk here. You only have to wander into the legendary Ron Jon Surf shop to catch the laid-back vibes. This is more than just a shop – it's jam packed with cool beach gear, classic cars and Beach Boy cover versions playing. This is also the place to hire surfboards, bikes and wetsuits. Cocoa Beach Pier is a hub of activity. Shops, restaurants and bars line the walkway, and if you're lucky enough to be here for a space shuttle launch, there's no better view than from the Tiki Bar at the very end of the pier. However the entertainment here is not all man-made. There's abundant wildlife to discover – try kayaking around the Banana River Islands, or watching for dolphins from the beach. By night, start with a beachside Happy Hour, and then choose your style from fine dining to eating under the stars with the sand running between your toes. Cool jazz clubs play into the early hours, and if you're a real night owl, then you might even catch the excellent sunrise from the beach.
