Holidays to ChampionsGate are first and foremost about the Greg Norman-designed golf courses. But with Walt Disney World on your doorstep, there’s life outside the greens and fairways.
ChampionsGate is a glamorous golf resort located just 25 minutes’ drive from Orlando. With a pair of 18-hole courses designed by Australian golfing legend Greg Norman, its reputation precedes it. But even if you’re not a golfer, there’s plenty to keep you entertained at this holiday village. There are swimming pools, spa treatments, delicious restaurants, and did someone mention Walt Disney World?
Many of the golfing world’s biggest superstars have pitted their wits against ChampionsGate’s 2 courses. There’s the International Course, where fast fairways thread through wild wetlands, making it a challenging test for all levels. The National Course is no doddle either. Designed in high Florida style, it’s studded with cypress groves and natural lakes you’ll want to steer clear of. And at the 19th hole, you can enjoy the comfort of the Piper’s Grille while you pore over your scorecard.
The theme parks
The Happiest Place on Earth, as the folk at Walt Disney World call it, is 15 minutes’ drive from ChampionsGate. Home of the Magic Kingdom, the Epcot Centre, not to mention Animal Kingdom Park and Disney Springs, it crams in rollercoaster rides, colourful parades, a few really wild animals, and some tamer ones like Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. And once you’ve exhausted Disney – if that’s at all possible – you can move on to SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Orlando, just 30 minutes’ away by car.
Relax and unwind
After all the excitement in the parks or on the fairways, ChampionsGate is the perfect place to unwind. There’s a walk-in lagoon, an adults-only pool and an 850-foot lazy river running through the landscaped grounds. And for a spot of shopping or a bite to eat, ChampionsGate Village is a one-stop shop for all your needs.
