A huge indoor theme park, circus acts and a handful of restaurants – this place is a great family-friendly pick in Vegas.
Built almost 50 years ago, Circus Circus was one of the first hotels in the area. And it’s become something of a Vegas institution. Circus acts, rock climbing and rollercoaster rides are all on the cards.
Families are big fans of this hotel, thanks to the amusement park, live performances and casual restaurants. Plus, it’s at the quieter, northern end of the strip, so you’re a 10-minute cab ride from the very centre of the action.

First of all we booked thru travelocity, thinking we'd paid for everything only to find out when we checked in we owed another $400 in resort fees we knew nothing about. Okay, we paid it. Got to our 2 connecting rooms and the keys to one room didn't work. They sent a guy up with more keys--they didn't work either and he never came back. After 2 days we got keys to both rooms. Our room had been redecorated--not to my liking but that's me. Room felt cramped probably due to an oversized entertainment center. There was still trash behind the bedside table and on top of the entertainment center. Free internet is limited before they ask for payment. Took our Roku but they had disabled the HDMI ports and input selection on the TV. We found a roach in our room. The air conditioner sounded like a gas generator and It woke us up every time it kicked on and off. The buffet was pricy and just awful. It took about 20 minutes to catch the elevator that went to our room in skyrise. The bellman told me I was lucky it came within 20 minutes--that I hadn't seen a long wait. We took my mother-in-law and she found the walk to and from mcdonalds or Krispy Kreme in the hotel just too hard. We asked to cancel our reservation after our first night to go elsewhere, they refused to give us any of our money back. We did find fun things to do with the kids but I felt uncomfortable most of the time. We were elbow to elbow with other people and unruly kids who wrestled and thew basketballs everywhere and used vile language. I've never been more disappointed in a vacation stay than this one. I thought being owned by MGM, it would be a nice place. I couldn't have been more incorrect.More
We stayed at Excalibur at the beginning of our vacation because of the bad reviews from Circus Circus. Our flight got moved from Friday to Monday so we decided to try it out since Excalibur wanted thee times the price to extend our stay! I wish we would have stayed at Circus Circus from the beginning. There is more things for the kids to do and the pool area is better!! The prizes at the games are better and you get more for your tickets! We stayed in the Skyrise Tower which had just been renovated and the rooms were very nice and clean and fancier than Excalibur. Aside from the crowds and the elevators being overcrowded I highly recommend this place if you have kids!!!More
Horrible dirty smelly room !
My wife and I booked our room on line. When we arrived at the check in desk. The clerk tells us that our rooms are in another building across the street! We were in a hurry to see a show so we opted to pay an extra $40.00 over the $110.00 we had already spent on the room just so that we can stay in the main tower. The room was smelly, the carpets were old and had a musty smell. The toilet wasn't cleaned very well and had a brown stain across the rim !!! It was nasty!!! I'm never going back to this dump. More
I'm writing this while beside the pool. Hotel is old and there's no disguising that. The lobbies have cheap stalls in them selling junk which only serves to highlight the low end nature of this big hotel. Pool is ridiculously small for the number of folk trying to use it, 30 ft by 40ft I'd guess. Never seen a pool so packed, with barely a metre between kids. I didn't go in with my kids as it was so uninviting, the loud music doesn't help either. Rooms smell bad in the casino tower. I think they are using air freshener and the effect of this was to make us think the rooms were smokers rooms. Bath had long hairs in it. No fridge in room. Low ceilings throughout most of the building give it a cave like feeling. Not at all circussy. I imagine the owners will demolish it at some point as it's way past sell by date. Only book this place if you get an unresistable price especially if you have free cancellation. Then keep an eye out at the last minute for deals on more up market hotels and do a swap. Very very long wait for anyone to answer phone at reception/house services. Note also the generic hotel replies to other posts, nothing of substance.More
Old, tired and in a poor state
We went for a look inside Circus Circus to see their facilities and use the casino. On walking inside you can immediately tell the difference in price and quality between this and the Wynn for example just down the street. It seems like the decor hasn't been updated since it was built, it smells musty the carpets and facilities are tired and in poor condition. This hotel seemed to be quite popular with Hispanic families. I didn't see the rooms but based on the lobby and facilities I did see I wouldn't stay here and wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel.More
