Riu Le Morne is a lovely hotel set on a nice quiet part of the beach!! The gardens are beautifully maintained and the food and staff are exceptional! Special mentions to Artee and Ruben on reception who were always so friendly and helpful! Melvin in the restaurant is a quiet waiter but always looked after us! Also, Sachin at the beach / pool bar is a real friendly guy - great service!! Favourite parts of this hotel....Great view of the sea from our balcony, nice beer out of the all inclusive fridge in room, crystal clear waters for snorkelling, watching the kite surfers, and delicious ice cream every day!! Only downsides.....pretty quiet at night unless you go next door to the Creole, quite rocky when entering the sea.....take your water shoes!! I would have no hesitation booking again! Thanks for the memories!! More
Not all perfect.
It would be wrong to say this is not a good hotel, but it has some small problems that you will notice if you regularly stay in this type of hotel. First the good points. It should be acknowledged that this hotels best feature are the staff, they are up there with the best I have ever had the pleasure of being looked after by. You will always get a smile, you will always feel that your wellbeing is number one. I am not going to real off a long list of staff to thank, but Sooraj in the reception bar always remembered us, what our favourite drink was, and at what time of the day, a real credit to the hotel. All staff would take time out to ask how your day was and have a little chat. Wi-Fi we got a decent signal all over the hotel including round the pool and on the beach close to the bar. Food. Generally the food was very good. Buffet in the main restaurant with another three that you can book. We found the Asian the best, this is a buffet restaurant with two sitting 6pm & 8.30pm. Top tip eat at 8.30pm as there are not so many children in as this restaurant is in the next door hotel. Staff here we found to be the best, made us feel very welcome. The Indian again two sitting, but this is a set menu, just sit and get what you are given. The other is French and in your hotel. Limited menu, one meat, one fish and a vegetarian. Now the bad, or should I say "a little annoying" points. Rooms a little dated and are in need of a refurbish. Plug sockets just two useable ones, one UK style three pin and a two round pin one. If like us you have lots of things to charge, phones, tablets, camera, e-cigarette you will have to manage your recharging especially if you are using hair straighteners or making a coffee. There are no draws in the room, just cupboards, a bit strange. All the furniture is wood and looks it's age having been painted quite a few times. Also the wardrobe is in the bathroom, by the time the second week came around we could feel our clothes felt a bit damp. As with the room the bathroom is looking a bit dated but has everything good size shower with plenty of hot water and a separate WC. Rooms are set out on three floors, ground, 1st and 2nd floors, no lifts. Best rooms are sea view. Pool. The main pool is a good size with a bar / restaurant next to it. Plenty of good quality sun beds, and you will not need to do the 6am rush to get a good one, there are plenty. Annoying point, no tables to put drinks and things on. This also goes for the beach. Second pool is a bit of a letdown, nice pool, but no drinks or food, you will need to walk back to the main pool for a drink or something to eat, there are toilets. The beach has same sun beds and again plenty of them, but again no tables. The beach is a bit steep going down to the sea and you will need beach shoes as there is lots of rock and coral, you can walk a good distance out and the water will still only be chest deep. One other annoying point, no drinks waiter service on the beach or around the pool, you will need to get up and get your own. Also you should be aware all beaches in Mauritius are public beaches. The hotel can not stop anyone from using the beach, so you will have locals and children on the beach as well as the local touts selling all sorts of rubbish. The beach area is quite windy and there were lots of Kite Surfers and Wind Surfers. Drinks. Very limited and low quality. The beer is good but spirits are very cheap none branded. Only diet drink is coke, so if you are a diabetic like my wife, drinks are limited. Did bring this up with the hotel manager and he said he would look into it as it was for a diabetic but never got back to us so and can only assume coke is the only one they order in. Lemonade and tonic water would have been nice to use as mixers. Entertainment. In your hotel it is very low key, all but one night there will be a solo singer or duet. The main entertainment is next door with nightly shows, disco and bar entertainment. We went over most nights for a show or just to have a drink in a more lively atmosphere coming back to our own bar for a quiet nightcap. Everything in the next door hotel is included in your all inclusive. Around the pool is also nice and quite no one pestering you to join in the fun and play volleyball of do water aerobics, very peaceful, no music. To sum up. Nice hotel, but I think management have been cutting costs a little to harshly, no drinks waiters around beach and pool, second pool no services, no beach and pool tables, drinks a little limited, and rooms need some money spent on them. Hope this is of some use, let me know if it is, and feel free to ask any questions.More
Honeymoon in paradise!
Me and my husband stayed in Riu Le Morne (adult only part of the hotel) for two weeks in April, 2017 and it was an absolutely amazing experience. As it was our honeymoon we did receive a bottle of bubbly on arrival and were accommodated in a beautiful quite room overlooking the sea. The room was kept clean and tidy at all times, mini bar topped up and after a day away we were always pleasantly surprised by different animals (made of towels) and petals on our bed. The food in the hotel was so fresh and varied, we were spoiled for choice! Gardens and hotel surroundings were so beautifully maintained as well. Everything around us looked so green and eye pleasing. But above all, the staff were just fabulous: everyone we met were very attentive without being intrusive, came across happy and friendly and greeted us with the smile at all times. We felt thoroughly looked after, cared for, staff could not do enough to make our stay so easy, relaxing and enjoyable. Special mention goes to Jay from reception, who was very attentive and genuinely friendly from the moment that we have arrived till the one we bid our farewells. Moreover, the barman named Joshil was just superb: we loved talking to him, hearing about the island and places to visit, hence spent most of our evenings in Riu Le Morne bar.On our last day we felt that we made a great friend with Joshil! Thank you to everyone who made our honeymoon a truly unforgettable experience. We shall never forget it and we certainly hope to come back one day.More
An absolutely fantastic holiday. Lovely clean hotel, exceptional hotel staff couldn't do enough for you including helping mending my broken glasses. Lovely food, looked after by Ruben,Jean Noel , Jordan, Dev and Wesley .Room cleaned daily and you always saw a person with a broom sweeping up around the hotel. Receptionist staff always happy to help too . Great snorkelling but could get a bit choppy at times which makes it difficult to see. Lovely to watch the wind and kite surfers. More

We had our wedding at this hotel. What a truly amazing day. Paradise is an understatement. A special thanks to Stephanie who made sure the day was a very special experience for my new wife Paula making sure she had everything ready from making sure her hair was done beautifully at the spa, to ensuring her dress was perfect and getting her to the alter. Adesh the hotel photographer took the pictures of the day. He did a fantastic job and we were delighted with them. We could not have wished for a better location for our special day. The hotel itself is set in such an idyllic setting. You have Le Morne mountain set behind it and the beautiful Indian Ocean in front. The sandy beach is beautiful and the water is so clear it is amazing. You only have to step into it to see such wonderful fish swimming around, it is like stepping into an aquarium. The complex comprises of two hotels. the Le Morne for adults only & the Creole for families. If you stay at Le Morne you can use all the facilities in the Creole. Both really lovely hotels. The hotel was really clean with really well kept green areas. The rooms were clean, spacious and made up everyday to a high standard. All the staff were really friendly and happy to acknowledge you and make sure everything was ok. The hotel manager Yash, was quite often walking round chatting to people. He was very approachable and friendly and made sure you were happy and enjoying yourself. A mention also to Sachin and the other staff in the pool bar. He knew what drink you wanted before you did. He made us some really lovely drinks we hadn't tried before. All told this is a truly fantastic hotel set in paradise and I would definitely recommend staying here We hope to return one day More
