RIU: THE PLACE TO BE
Indeed, there's no secret recipe to have a fantastic Weekend with the family. just have to go to RIU. The entertainment team is in my opinion, the best on the whole island. The food is great and the cocktails as well. that's the place to be. SEE YOU SOON>>>>>More
Congrats to the team members
I would like to say a big thank you to the team members, from the bar personnel to the maid. You guys are great people. Thank you for your kindness, your smile and your "Joie de vivre", especially Adrien, Ven, and the others from the bar section. Guys, keep it up, show to the world that Mauritians are well known for their hospitality and kindness. Well done. Thank you again.More
Awesome family holiday
Me and my family stayed at Riu Creole hotel for a week but we wish we could have stayed there for a whole month. The island its self is beautiful, a lot of different natural sites to see, but staying at the Riu hotel made our experience even better. The food is great (believe me I'm a really picky eater ;)) and the rooms are nice and clean. But best part of the hotel is the stuff. Everyone was so nice and friendly, I have to especially thank Yanick, who is the best. His performance at the show is great, furthermore he really is friendly and made me and my whole family laugh and dance.More
2 Week Holiday with 12 year old - July 2017
After the long journey we arrived at the hotel and were put in room 2247. Very disappointing for a 4 star property - it had certainly seen better days. It was raining when we arrived so we felt cold and put the blankets on our beds. They were stained and musty. We received new blankets but they left the old ones wiht us too! We asked to be moved but spent the first 2 days being told to come back to reception at various times. On day 2 we finally relented and decided to unpack properly as we did not want to waste any more of our time. The nightmare then started.... We were woken at 6.00 am in the morning by drilling and banging and then discovered that they were completely ripping out the rooms above, below and either side for refurbishment. The noise was intolerable. We left our room to find various bits of furniture in the walkways, cables, tools, dust and rubbish. Diversions and temproary walkways had been made to guide us to the reception and restaurant. Very dangerous as the tempriary flooring was at 2 different levels and due to the rain the walkways were really slippery. Rooms all over our section were under the same state of refurbishment and as you walked past you could clearly see into the rooms. Tiles ripped, up, air con units ripped out, pipes and cables everywhere. We pointed this out to the Management who did not seem concerned. We heard a rumour that the pool was shutting for 3 weeks so we approached our Rep who denied all knowledge. At this stage everyone was lining up to see our Rep and we had to wait upto 2 hours to get our turn. We approached the Manager who admitted that the pool was closing. We were all furious - and then magically we were all sent letters to advise us of the situation. We believe at this point that the letters also went to those guests in the UK due to come out. Due to the fear of a British rebellion the Hotel decided to keep it open for the duration of our stay and nothing more was said. When smoke came into our room via the air conditioning unit, we were finally moved very quickly to the adults section - a much better room - this is what I had expected to have been given when we arrived. Although the Hotel implied this was an upgrade it was not. Our son was too young to use the facilities in this section and we felt we had to sneak around. We did not want to upset the adults..! Guests from other countries told us they were aware of the maintenance work but Tui had not advised us on booking. We lodged a formal complaint with Cindy our Rep, but now back in the UK we are having real trouble moving our compalint forward with TUI. We cant actually get hold of anyone. You work hard all year for a holiday of a a lifetime and we wasted 4 days of it having to complain. We felt upset, angry, stressed and defalted. On the last week we took a cab and saw the Real Mauritius which you must do. We enjoyed the remainder of our holiday as best we could but it has tainted our view of Mauritius, and more importantly made us les trustful of FIrst Choice and Thompson/Tui. Overall we think that when finished, this Hotel could be fantastic but sadly we paid a Premium price and spent out first 4 days on a building site. Overall food very good but repetitive by the second week. Staff in the restuarant and on reception very friendly. The Hotel was very busy and it was obvious that they were struggling with all the complaints. This Hotel is advertised and sold to us as a Premium Property that had been refurbished in 2014 and re-opened in 2015. This infomration should have been updated and whilst the works are underway TUI have an obligation to let those that have booked know what is happening. We felt we were mis-sold this holiday and would advise anyone going to check the current situation.More
We visited this hotel from the sister adults only hotel next door. We found the hotel lively with lots of families, but we don't mind this and and found the atmosphere better than our adults only hotel. The entertainment is also better, and the fact that we could get away to our quieter hotel was great, best of both worlds. More
