Factor in three sandy bays, a luxury spa and LUX*-style surprises, and you’ll find it easy to fill your days at the LUX* Grand Gaube.
The LUX* Grand Gaube sweeps around three sandy bays on Mauritius’ north coast. Its spacious grounds are groomed with tropical gardens only interrupted by three pools and a sprinkling of restaurants.
LUX* hotels are full of surprises. Just take their 'message in a bottle' idea, for example – three bottles are hidden around the grounds every day, filled with vouchers for gifts like special dinners on the beach or little boxes of Mauritian rum.

We travelled to Mauritius to celebrate a special wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. The Lux Grand Gaube is a fabulous hotel. The staff pulled out all the stops on our special day, Champagne with breakfast and free spa treatment but the highlight was our candlight meal on the beach. WOW! The restaurants were all wonderful (even the buffet). We have stayed in 5* hotels before but have never experienced food of this quality. Having booked a day trip, we were advised to order a picnic. This was also fantastic! A huge bonus for my husband was a trip in the hotels own sea plane. Wonderful staff to many to mention by name but Oliver in the bar did stand out. Definitely recommend to anyone.More
Late review of the best holiday ever!!
My husband and I booked our honeymoon and his birthday at this gorgeous heaven through Thompson. After a long journey from the moment we arrived at the hotel, we knew we had landed at paradise!!! From the clean blue sea, to the amaZing cuisine at their different restaurants which kept changing every night, to their ice cream (I literally had 21 scoops of ici icecream in 7 days!) to finally the worlds BEST customer service ever!! Just to mention Dhiren --- he was just outstanding. My husband is vegan and Dhiren made sure that my husband had enough options in buffet as everyone else. On the contrary my husband got extra options as the chef Desiree and Mr Singh went out of their way to cater for my husbands dietary needs. They not only baked us 1 but 2 vegan cakes - one for our honeymoon and one for my husbands birthday. As I write this review I cannot stop smiling. I still think of that holiday. The room and the service, the all inclusive foods and drinks, the sea, the activities that went with it. Lux hotels are known for their customer services. I can't wait to try the other resorts that Lux have to offer. As for Grande Gaube, I will definitely be back. Thank you for the best time ever â¤ðð½More

An Idyllic location with beautiful staff
We have recently (March) returned from Lux GG and OMG it was absolutely fabulous! This was our first time this way. We often visit the Caribbean, Mexico in the main, and we have been spoilt and treated like royalty (Secrets Maroma as our fave) so we were a little apprehensive about the quality of food/service as being so ridiculously spoilt already but were looking at a new destination. After looking at reviews we decided to visit here and we are so glad we did! The flight is long! We were fortunate enough to take the Dreamliner, premium, from Manchester direct but 12 hours is still a long stint. Mauritius airport is incredibly clean and from landing we were out with our private taxi driver within 20 minutes (very slick and seamless). After an hour drive we were at Lux GG and WOW. As soon as you see the premises and the location you are taken back. Check in - no wait, you are given a welcome drink and then 'ushered' to you room - again, seamless. Like all the other reviews, this place is something special and the staff make it. I want give an overview of the resort and our experience and then mention some of the amazing staff that we had the pleasure of being custom to; Food - Great. We were All inclusive. I would advise no different unless you don't really eat or drink (soft drinks inc). We could have paid £12 for a coffee, water and pineapple juice.. Main Buffet, we ate here the first two days as there was a 2 day wait for the restaurants. Food was good but me and my partner like the waiting on/dining experience. We like to be served, not put lots of different dishes on our plate - no matter of the quality A la carte - We literally alternated day by day (after the first 2 days) between The beach and the Abalone restaurant and could not have loved the food more. The service at both restaurants was fantastic. Vickash at the Abalone was super efficient and could not do enough for us. In fact, we noticed when it was Vickashâs day off..... At the beach restaurant were always looked after by Avishek and Purgon. These two ensured we always had the table we wanted and knew exactly what our drink order was before we had even arrived! Food here was of a very high standard Lunchtimes, we tended to eat at the Banyan tree. The food here was fabulous. There was lots of choice of fish and curries and a little more authentic. It was also nice and shaded and the setting was beautiful. Everything here is cooked in front of you too - Most dishes are made quite mild but we asked them to spice things up which they happily did. Every day we were served by Rajiv. Again, he knew exactly what we drank and knew which table was our favourite so made sure we had it every day!! Bar and drinks. Every night we would have a few cocktails and drinks before and after dinner. The selection is very good, the house wines are decent as is the cocktail range - drinks would be incredibly expensive if we were not AI. We had the pleasure to be served by the amazing bar team run by Vick. Special mentions to Olivier, Yvan, Ootam, Vishaul (who LOVES Chillies) and Ruben. These always ensured we were looked after and went out their ways to assist any drink/snack we wanted - nothing is too much. They even ensured that, when requested, I got a fresh drinking coconut. The resort had a coffee shop which served great coffees and snacks. There is also a fresh Ice cream car with homemade ice creams and sorbets â large, delicious selection. Again, if you are not All inclusive these extraâs will all add up! Water sports and activities â good selection all included. We went on the glass bottom boats a couple of times and on the snorkelling trip (they do both of these twice a day). Sea life is not the greatest (comparing to Mexico/Caribbean) but nice to get out at sea. We also used the pedaloâs, canoes and catamaran. Brian was great with the Catamaran â we didnât realise they could go that fast. All activity staff were really helpful. There are a range of excursions available in Mauritius. These vary from dolphin/wale trips, diving, helicopters, sight-seeing and Island visiting. We hired out the helicopter. The resort has a helipad and they organised this with air Mauritius for us â we got to see amazing views of the Island and resort. Not the cheapest but recommended. Beaches - Two main beaches. The main one and then the adults only one. We spent most of our time here as was slightly quieter (in fairness there are no screaming children on resort) and nearer our room and the Banyan tree for lunch. Beach was very nice - sea is not Crystal clear though and also very shallow. Bar service on the beach was very good - Wyland looked after us every day! Rooms - as per previous reviews the hotel is closing in May for a huge refurb. Rooms are slightly dated but still clean and comfortable. We stayed in the deluxe suites. These are adult only and all rooms look out onto the lagoon which offers fabulous views. Our cleaner, Suresh, was great â he even folded and hung up my partners clothes every day. The best we have ever had!! Grounds are all well maintained and lots of flowers. The resort is located across 3 bays meaning that wherever you are you are on the water front â all restaurants and bars and pretty much all accommodation. Staff â As per all other reviews they are all excellent and genuinely lovely people. I think LUX ensure that they only employ at the highest level â many had worked all over the world, cruise liners e.t.c. They are all a credit to the resort! Iâd like to mention the management team, Stefan and Nicholas. These two had eyes in the back of their head and anytime they detected a problem (that wasnât even a problem) they were present â Goodness knows how they just keep popping up in restaurants making sure everything is ok! We were lucky with the weather. Despite it being ârainy seasonâ we saw very little rain. The only time it happened was first thing in the morning or at night. Days were scorching hot. Another great thing about this resort is there are very few mosquitoâs â I tend to attract them but was not bitten once in the two weeks. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in an idyllic location with great food and people. We will be looking at returning once the place has been renovated.More
After a long filght what a delight to arrive and be welcomed with warm smiles . No worry about the check in just "wait in the bar area , with a drink we will sort your luggage and rooms ". The service is amazing and nothing is too much for the wonderful team who work there always genuinely felt .The tour of the hotel later after arrival is a great way to understand what is on offer at the hotel . We had let the hotel know it was our honeymoon and thus received some additioanl touches . A cookery session , spar treatment and a romantic meal along with an upgrade to a junior suite. Water sport activities include pedalos . catamarans , sailing boats , snorkelling, water skiing and a glass bottom boat all for free . The food was outstanding and most certainly 5 star quality . If they do not have on the menu what you want just ask and they will sort it . The most amazing place and I truly did not want to leave after 2 weeks . All the team are amazing but our special thanks is for Abi Canhye who was outstanding .More
