Lovely place lacking something
We chose this hotel for our honeymoon, we arrived during a cyclone which was interesting to say the least. We took a private transfer to the hotel where we were greeted by hotel staff. the first thing we noticed is that there was an awful lot of guests in the main lobby due to bad weather and having nowhere else to go as the hotel has very few sheltered areas for guests. As it was out honeymoon we upgraded our room, well we thought we had but there was defiantly nicer rooms available. Our room was situated on the far left of the beach looking out to the sea, it was quiet and maid was lovely. We had a second floor room but still managed to have an issue with ants. We managed to inform the hotel staff and they cleared them out. Room was otherwise clean, and minibar stocked. Being so far away from the lobby and restaurants didn't cause a problem, and it was nice to be away from the busy main beach area allowing us to get up at a normal time and still get a sunbed, which isn't guaranteed in other areas of the hotel. Food was nice, and different from what you would normally expect as we only had chips once during the 2 week stop. If you didn't like spicy or flavorsome food there was a very limited choices. Beach restaurant is a must, our food we had was amazing, and couldn't fault it. Trips with the providers are overpriced, but Chris on the beach can provide an amazing boat tour at a fraction of the price, that was defiantly a trip to remember! Worth doing. in our eyes beach service could be better, if you sunbathed at the far end of the beach you were lucky if you got offered one drink per day, luckily we don't mind stretching our legs and getting our own. But definitely room for improvement there. Overall we enjoyed the holiday, it was an experience and another place to tick off the list.More
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Ambre and have thoroughly enjoyed every moment, ok there are a few cats and dogs around but they never bothered us and had no effect on our enjoyment. The rooms are simple but clean and very comfortable what else do you need from a room.? The food was wonderful in all the restaurants not a bad meal in 2 weeks, this was only topped by the staff who were amazing could not do enough for you.! Overall I would return again and would recommend anyone else to also.More

A truly memorable place
We arrived back Monday, from a 2 week stay, to celebrate our honeymoon and my 50th birthday, and I feel that we couldn't of picked any better. The whole experience was fantastic. We couldn't find fault with anything (maybe a few heavy downpours at times ) I've seen a few negative reviews at times, so may of been a bit sceptical, but one thing i have learnt, over the years, is to be make your own mind up, and have your own judgment. The majority of the time we ate in the main buffet restaurant, which we couldn't fault, from the variety and quality of the food, to the welcoming and friendliness of all the staff. We ate in the beach restaurant a few times, and the food, the location and the staff were superb. We did the boat trip, through chris, who was always about, and this was great, trying to get in and out of a boat, after all that 'coffee', became trickier as the day went on!! Resulting from this trip we made some nice friends, with who we had some good nights with, Steve & Lucy, John & Gillian and Eddie & Hatti, really good meeting you guys!!! The hotel laid on a fantastic easter extravaganza over the weekend, with a cocktail party on Saturday evening, and then Sunday morning, coming down to breakfast to be greeted by a steel band, and numerous festivities going on all morning, and as for Kenneth, he made it what it was, dont know if he'd had too many chocolate eggs or too much rum, but he was great!! So well done and thank you, to all the management, for organising such a great event, Finally spent a bit of tlme in the coral bar, because once you were in there, it was tough too leave, the drinks kept coming without even asking, so for the life of me, where people say you can't get served, just beggars belief, the staff in there were fantastic, just a few names, Swardesh, Priya, diya, Avi, a big thankyou to Siham, who looked us so well, all overseen by the impressive Sharma (top bloke in our eyes) Nearly forgot to mention Reena, our maid, who looked after our room, so fantastically well, from the fresh flowers on our bed daily, to the way she made up our bed on my birthday, so thank you Reena So thanks to everyone who made this an unforgettable experience.More

Second visit - even better
This was our second visit to Ambre having last visited Easter 2014. The service before was fantastic now it is phenomenal. I have heard it is one of the best greetings and care you will have on the island and it is fantastic. Great variety of food and drinks always cooked well and with different options each day. Amazing evening service! We were there for the Easter party which had lots of canapé stations set up and drinks being handed out. This was a real highlight. When we returned to the rooms there were little bags of lindt easter treats. The only thing I noticed was that the coloured throws on the bed looked a little tired, a sign that they are clean, but they were obviously newer 2 years ago, they could do with a change. Some of the cushions at the pool bar need to be replaced. I am really honestly clutching at a tiny straw there to raise that as a complaint. I really have none. I was quite disgusted by people who were rude to some of the staff because of minor errors which were usually mistakes which were trivial and just things lost in translation. The staff really do bend over backwards for you here, EVERYONE greets you with a smile, wishes you a great day and will help you out. They work tirelessly to make this a holiday of a lifetime. You want Diet Coke in the room, just ask and they will give provide. The water stations around the resort are a great addition, make sure you take an empty water bottle with you to fill up for the beach, there is plenty of glass bottles of water in the room. The range of free water sports is great, we saw a glimpse of a sea turtle on the glass bottom boat and regular kayaked, all for free. If you are traveling with Thompson, I recommend the simply sailing trip, this is a beautiful trip with great food and service. It is not far from Ambre. I can't recommend this place enough and have now been here twice, this is the only place in the world I have visited twice, so do choose Ambre and enjoy and embrace the fantastic service.More
