Our best vacation ever
Well this is the first time I give full stars rating in all categories on TripAdvisor review. Great snorkeling, very pleasant staff, clean rooms cleaned several times a day, very nice weather (although we were there in the raining period, it was raining just two times in night and once for a few minutes during the day). We spent the time with three kids (7, 4, 2) and it was our best vacation ever. I also appreciated other friendly guests we have met. No loud and drunken people which you can sometimes meet in AI bars and hotels...More

Best vacation ever!
Everything about Vilamendhoo made our anniversary/honeymoon absolutely amazing! We requested to be on one of the first sea planes and were on the island by 7am. The check in was simple and the woman who did it went through everything involving our all inclusive plus package (full board does not include drinks including water so I'd highly recommend the AIP). When they say all inclusive- they mean it. The cocktails selection was great! Our room obviously wasn't ready but our AIP package began so we could enjoy breakfast and drinks while waiting for our room. We checked in around noon and got the room we had requested over the water jacuzzi villa 329. This villa offers the most privacy and the best view since it's completely unobstructed. There is a walk, but it's totally worth it!! Also, if you are going for a couples trip, I'd recommend the adults only side. We do not have a family yet and I appreciate how family friendly the resort is, but if you're looking for peace and serenity, it's worth the extra cost. The staff at the restaurant was excellent! They are as quick as they can be when it's full. Countering other reviews, they definitely are not expecting tips at every meal. You will be assigned a waiter for your meals. I do think it's appropriate to tip them at the end of your trip- we did. He knew our drink orders and was very personable. The selection at the restaurants is great! There is something for everybody, plus it's a great time to try some new foods. The sunset bar staff is also wonderful- Adam was great!! The Bonthi bar had nightly entertainment from dancing to movies. The Sunset bar also had entertainment on some nights, which was great since kids are allowed in Bonthi bar. We really liked the soft music there. AIP does not include snorkel gear or the motorized water sports. You will get a complimentary sunset cruise (take it- it's wonderful!) and half hour lessons for water sports. We did the whale shark snorkel, which was awesome. We saw 2! Huge thanks to the staff for looking so hard for them! Our check out was at noon, but we had a late flight out of Male. Our sea plane was at 4:45 and we were so excited that our AIP package was able to be used until we actually left the island. That is a huge perk! We cannot thank the staff at Vilamendhoo enough and I will be recommending this resort to anyone who mentions wanting to visit the Maldives. I hope someday we can return!More

Fabulous! Couldn't have asked for more!
We got back yesterday after a wonderful 8 night stay at Vilamendhoo. We are already looking at booking to go back! From the moment we landed on arrival at Male to our sad departure yesterday, this holiday more than lived up to our expectations. The island is beautifully maintained and very well run. Although it was full, you never felt like it was crowded at all and we often commented "Where is everyone!?!" The water is crystal clear with an abundance of fish and eels just off the waters edge, so a perfect introduction for first time snorkelers like us. The dolphins also made a regular swim past the island. We had a beach villa (191) towards the adult only end of the island and this was perfect for us. It had a lovely sandy strip for us to sunbathe on and was so quiet and peaceful. The food really was excellent with a huge variety of choice every evening - all to a very high standard and well cooked and presented. There is also a "theme" every evening eg Maldivian night or Italian night with lots of new dishes for you to try. Compliments to the chef and his team for producing such quality fare with the logistics that must be involved with catering on a remote island! The only one very slight negative observation I would make is that we found some of the puddings far too sweet. Admittedly I don't have a particularly sweet tooth but my partner (who does) made the same observation. We loved the Sunset Cruise and the trip to Dangethi (the neighbouring working island) was a highlight of the stay for me. It was so interesting to see how Maldivians live and work. There is as little or as much as you want to do, we never felt bored for a moment and were just sorry to leave! Hope to be back next year! xxMore
Very nice resort with some thief employees....
Firstly the negative side: Third day of our stay we forget our new GoPro camera by pool area, exactly 4th sunbed on right side of kid swiming pool. We have been the last costumers there and has been in very dark spot, anybody else was there and it was already dark and also the bar was closing. After we found out that we leave it here I go immediately back, the sunbeds has been given up /sign that somebody was cleaning there/. This two employees can be the only two ones who can stole it. After our departure the bar was close. I explain everything to barman and later also on reception. They know who has a shift in that time by sunbeds but anybody has solve it. After such experience you dont feel safe at all. Nobody was filling our minibar Positive sides: Very nice house reef, quality food, sport area and lovely infinity pool.More
We stayed from 1st to 14th July 2017. My husband & I travelled from Glasgow and our friends, who booked with another company, travelled from London. We were concerned that this would affect our holiday and emailed Vilahmendoo directly beforehand requesting that our beach villas be beside each other. We received very prompt replies, from Reservation Assistants Ali Ruslan and Ahmed Shaffeeu, assuring us that every effort to accommodate our request will be made - and they did! We were absolutely delighted with the location of our villas 232 & 233. We are very grateful for their responses and allocation. Our beach villa was more than adequate, very comfortable and serviced twice daily. We found all staff to be friendly and helpful. Another special thank you to Haaroon, our waiter in the Funama Restaurant, nothing was too much trouble and always welcomed us with warmly and a huge smile. The food at the Funama was very good, certainly catered for every taste, was of a good quality and the dishes differed so much on a daily basis that you didn't get bored going to the same restaurant for every meal. Which, considering you are on a tiny island, is a true achievement by the chefs. We chose Vilamendhoo as we are all divers and had read about the house reef and dive centre - both did not disappoint! The staff and facilities of Euro-divers were very good, friendly & professional. We were fortunate enough to encounter whale sharks and one was very close, as it came up from behind us so saw it from mouth to tail as it slowly passed. This resort delivered in every department, the transfer from Male to the seaplane terminal was efficient, the welcome and information we received upon arrival was more than adequate. We arrived mid morning and our room wasn't ready until 2pm, which we expected and had packed shorts and swimwear in hand luggage. We were just happy to be there, got changed and walked round the island, had lunch and a drink then got our room keys - no stress! We opted for the All Inclusive Plus (AIP) package & the items in your room are clearly marked AIP to show if included or charged. Even at the bar (we preferred the Sunset Bar as adult only) I ordered a drink that was not included in the AIP and the waiter informed me straight away, giving me the choice to change my order or pay. Not an issue, did not cause me any stress. Some previous reviews mention large boats. The island depends upon them for deliveries and the removal of rubbish - otherwise the resort would not be able to function and we wouldn't have had this fabulous holiday! We all enjoyed the whole experience and would love to return. Do not bother packing shoes, it really is No shoes, No news!More
