Incredible! Incredible! Incredible!
Me and my partner stayed here for a week and we wished we had booked a month. Where do I start. From the moment we arrived it was magical. The island is picturesque. We were greeted with cold towels, drums and a free drink along with a full explanation of the island and activities etc. They showed us directly to the room and bags came shortly after. While checking out our room our cleaner came and introduced his self and gave us a free bottle of bubbly which we soon after enjoyed sat in our jacuzzi looking up at the stars. From that point onwards it just got better and better. The reef was outstanding and we saw all the marine life we expected and more. The beach was just breathtaking, the sunset, oh my the sunset. The infinity pool and the sunset bar are positioned to be able to get the best views of it and we enjoyed it most nights while sipping a cocktail and also watching the bats flying around the trees. Just beautiful! The whole experience felt out of this world.. Walking through the centre of the island was so pretty like paradise! They offer so much to do, including water sports, various boat trips, snorkelling, diving, bars, restaurants, football, tennis, golf, a gym all the while still feeling extremely remote and natural. But the thing that REALLY made our holiday that much more special was the staff. They went above and beyond with everything and anything. So so friendly and genuinely happy. Every single member of staff we passed on the holiday greeted us and made us feel so welcome! All bar staff always remembered everyone and remembered what drinks we liked etc. They are an absolute credit to Vilamendhoo! Along with the massage, sunset cruise (in which we saw a huge pod of dolphins not far from the island), use of water sports, minibar and so much more all thrown in for free with our all inclusive package we literally can not fault paying the extra. The food was brilliant and different every night and our waiter Jameel was superb. This resort really tries to make the whole experience very personalised which makes it that much more special. Vilamendhoo just WOW, this place is complete and utter perfection and paradise! Thankyou so much for making our stay so special! We hope to return ASAPMore
So beautiful !
Second time we were going to Vilamendhoo; but for our 10th wedding birthday this time ⺠The island remains absolutely beautiful and choral barrier still has flashy colors, lots of fishes, etc. We were in water villa and it is simply perfect. There is a big variety of food and it is very good. The service is excellent (excepted one server who was especially "cold"). If you can, do not hesitate to go on this Island, it is the paradise !More
Maldives and snorkelling at it's best
I should have written this a couple of months ago after visiting in 2016. I first visited the Maldives 30 years ago, the pure beauty has not changed. Accommodation and comfort are much more important nowadays and Vilamendahloo gets it right all way round. Comfortable villas with great bathrooms with the beach and the best reef snorkelling I've come across, right outside your room and all around the island. If you're a fish and diving and snorkelling is what you're after I would highly recommend this resort. The food is excellent with different theme buffets most evenings. The staff all very friendly and the service all way round very good. A great spa in an over-the-water villa adds to the whole experience. With a well organised seaplane transfer getting there is a breeze, and once there you probably won't want to leave. Enjoy!More
Our family of 4 (kids 6 & 8 years) truly enjoyed our 11 days at this wonderful island. We stayed on the north side in beach villa 154 which was a very good location. On this side the water is shallow further out compared to the south side and by that reason more suitable for kids. They can put on the mask and enjoy all the fish (including the friendly sharks) all the way into the shore. In addition you don't need to care about the boats coming and leaving from the south side quays. Very quiet and relaxing area. The house reef is very close so there is no need to have a boat to go snorkeling, you can just swim out. On the south-side it is even closer to the shore, so the snorkeling is great. We attended a couple of boat safaris, one for the whale shark and one for the manta. To bad we didn't see any whale-sharks (it has been a generally bad whale-shark season according to the locals), but we got to see mantas. That was fun! The staff is very friendly, good with the kids and in general very positive and helpful. The food is very good, something for every taste with a large buffet.More
Still makes me go WOW!
Just returned from our 9th visit (7 in a row) and the place is amazing. This is a very friendly but informal type island where nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Food has improved since our last visit in 2016, when it dropped (I blame the previous chef) and the choice/quality is once again very good (new English chef). If you enjoy not doing a lot in total tranquillity with amazing weather (it does rain sometimes) and fantastic views then this island is a must. Corals on the south side have suffered but the volume and variation in fish seems to have increased, albeit the rays seemed to have left. Don't pack a lot, as shorts and casual shirts are the order of the day and you don't need any shoes, not even flip flops. Already booked for next year!More
