Your guide to North Male Atoll, Maldives
Club Faru serves up all the best bits of the Maldives – coconut palms, warm seas and soft sands.
This place is great if you want to escape to the Maldives on something of a budget. It keeps everything simple, leaving you free to completely unwind and soak up the tropical scenery.
First things first, the property is in the North Male Atoll, close to Male. Hop on a speedboat and you’re there in around ten minutes, with a cold fruit cocktail waiting for you in reception.
As for the island, it’s home to a kilometre-long chunk of palms that gives way to sweeps of soft, white sand. Plus, the waters here are pure Maldives – clear, warm and filled with fish.
Talking of the sea, Club Faru runs snorkelling trips to the house reef each day. And there’s a scuba centre offering boat dives if you want to cast your net wider. In terms of other things to do, you’ll also find a spa and a swimming pool framed by wooden sunloungers and cream parasols.
In the food department, everything centres around the main buffet restaurant, where All Inclusive meals are served. Plus, you’ve got the option of a café and two bars. For a laid-back evening, head for the Vilu – it’s by the pool and great for sunset-gazing. Or try the Thundi bar. This place overlooks the lagoon, so you can watch the fish as you sip your drinks.
The accommodation here is on the simple side. Arranged in pretty, two-storey buildings a short walk from the beach, all the rooms are done out with whitewashed walls, cream tiles and blue soft-furnishings. Shaded balconies or terraces, en suite showers and air-conditioning complete the picture.
