Silver Sands Holiday Village

This hotel gives you a big choice of restaurants and a location right by Candolim’s golden-sand beach.

This hotel’s in a prime spot, just a two-minute walk from Candolim’s golden-sand beach. It’s much the same distance to the bars, restaurants and beach shacks along Beach Road.

There's a good-sized rectangular pool here. Dining’s a big deal here, too, with three restaurants including a great Indian à la carte and a place that serves up dishes from around the world.

Brilliant holiday at SSHV

We are a party of 6 staying in 3 bungalows and having a lovely time. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. In particular Helen on reception couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The bar staff are amazing. Tom is very friendly and helpful. We requested a fridge which was delivered next day, extra pillows followed. We have air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Rooms cleaned and sheets changed every day. Breakfast now includes eggs - cooked anyway you want. Very close to the beach and shacks. As said before the pool area could be better but there are more beds now. Dolphin tour by Johns boats is highly recommended. Going to night market Saturday. Taxi rank outside hotel and you have to haggle with the drivers for a price but they are very nice about it. There are still some moaners here but all in all we - 50, 60 & 80 year olds are having a great time..More

Location is the biggest advantage

I stayed there for two days. Rooms were clean and up to the mark. There is a swimming pool, though I didnt use the pool but it looked well maintained. Pool depth is 5 ft to 5.5 ft. There are set of cottages, also a lot of rooms. I stayed in room. Cottage would be more costlier. They have complementary breakfast, a decent one.More

KaustavSBanerjee,

Goatastic

Just returned from a fortnights stay with friend at the SSHV. We were in room G04 which is on the ground floor and its a room to be moved from if put in there. It is dark and small with hardly any room to move about in. I did ask to be moved but there was nothing available so we just had to put up with it. Helen on reception is lovely and did try to get us moved. The cleanliness is okay, clean towels everyday and sheets I think were every other day. Headboard was dirty from previous guests heads so didn't rest against that and frames had about an inch of dust on them so a crash course in housekeeping wouldn't go a miss to be honest. Hotel could do with a good refurb as rooms are dark. Wardrobe needs to have shelf removed as you can't hang clothes in them properly so my long dresses and husbands shirts hung outside the wardrobe on the doors for 2 weeks and they have a very musky smell about them. Apart from that haha the good points are the staff. What can I say about Ajay, Sunny, Tom, John, Neil and Thakkur omg these guys are the ones that make that hotel, their friendliness, their banter and their hard work never fails to make you laugh and smile when your in the lobby having a tipple. The food at Sheetal -(restaurant opposite hotel and part of the hotel) was lovely and Philip the waiter was a star. The location of this hotel is perfect literally a 2 minute walk and there are an abundance of shacks to choose from. For us the shack of choice was Alex's. Alex and Rocky were fantastic, we even left our towels with them at the end of the day and they were put out on beds for us the next morning when we got to the beach. Beach Shack is good too but really noisy as it's next to the water sports that the Indians LOVE and smells of diesel due to the boats and jet skis. We had some of the best food at Alex's shack. The food in Inferno is lovely too and you must try Soumyens kitchen, its 150 rupee (£1.50 ) in a tuk tuk and 5 minutes away. Also visit the Dudsugar falls and elephants, its a great day out. All in all apart from the room Goa was a fantastic holiday and we can't wait to go back.More

Good apart from pool

Just back from a fortnight here with friends Rooms shabby but functional and clean so no worries there. We were in F8 which is first floor with a good size balcony overlooking the rear gardens. Bats frequent the trees directly outside which is great to watch along with the friendly resident squirrel. Reception area and lobby relaxed and friendly - enjoyed may a post beach drink watching the world and the cows go by. Fab location - just a stones throw from the town and a few yards further to the lovely beach with its vast array of beach shacks . What makes this hotel so fab is the staff - the bar guys are just amazing - funny, helpful and a genuine asset to the hotel - a great big thanks to AJay, Sunny, Tom, Jon Takar - you made our holiday unforgettable Only downside is the pool - very small area for beds which is mostly shady but otherwise a great place for a brill holidayMore
