Just footsteps from the beach and within walking distance of Calangute's beach bars and restaurants, the Colonia Santa Maria cottages make for a great holiday base.
The Colonia Santa Maria doles out cottages just a stone’s skim away from Baga Beach and within walking distance of Calangute.
Portuguese-Indian style reigns supreme at the Colonia Santa Marina, so whitewashed walls, terracotta roofs and patterned tiles are teamed with jewel-bright colours.

It was a pleasure to stay there
A message for the girls on reception and as promised to you girls a review thanking you for your superb help. Jennifer, Maria and Priyanka were the girls we were impressed by on reception (apologies the other girls name has slipped our memory). They sorted a room change no problem they were always helpful, smiling and laughing at my holidaymaker antics. This is not to say the other staff were not pleasant and helpful. The lads around the bar and restaurant were well dresses well mannered and always smiling. Cleaners were superb and pool staff helpful with the umbrellas etc. So a big thank you for making our holiday with you a pleasure. One thing you notice here is the high presence of security. This was not because of any troubles but because it stops shortcuts being taken to the beach by locals and holidaymakers. The beach is 50 yards from the bottom of the complex and well situated for a walk to Calangute via the beach or the road. As is usual the local shops outside are all friendly and open to a barter or two so call in and see what they have.More
great place to stay
I stayed at csm for 28 days, we had a great stay relaxing pleasant garden view with a water feature, the room we stayed in was room no 61, just outside of the main resort, a short walk to the swimming pool, a five minute stroll to the beach, giving you access to all the beach shacks, great if you enjoy good food at reasonable prices, rooms were cleaned every day,the bedding was crisp and clean ready for a good nights sleep, all I can say is, try for your self you won't be disappointed.More
Dumbest parents ever!!!!
Hotel great, clean , food great area great and reasonably safe as long as your not a dumb tourist wondering around hammered alone after midnight , local restaurants fire and ice ,cherry olive and bobby beach shack and great and nobody got the trots at all which was amazing considering we had the ice and salad too. But unfortunately the holiday was partly ruined by the worlds dumbest selfish parents that bring not only a four year old attention starved little girl that sounds like an ambulance with her constant look at me mom me mom me mom around the pool but also thought it would be a good idea to bring a baby of about 6 months to a non child friendly hotel with an average client age of over 60 . This annoying couple cost the hotel much needed revenue and the waiters and bar staff much needed tips as the other clients myself included either left the bar , pool or restaurant area every time the worlds dumbest parents trailed there circus act in to ruin the otherwise wonderful atmosphere. IF YOU HAVE KIDS DONT BE DUMB AND FLY THEM TEN HOURS TO ANNOY PEOPLE TRYING TO RELAX.More

This was my first Time to Goa ,we stayed at the Colonial Santa Maria , I have a friend who regularly visits each year who recommended us to stay there . So was not sure what to expect . Have travelled many countries but never India .We arrived at Midnight ,while checking in we were given some cool juice and we were then taken to our rooms , they were standard rooms , very clean and bedding all fresh and plenty of towels these were changed daily. Breakfast was self service ,English breakfast , sausage, beans , tomatoes , scrambled egg , there is an egg chef , who cooks fried eggs or omelettes, and there is toast , butter, jam , or marmalade , some cakes or croissant, and some Indian bits to eat too . Which I think is fine , bacon usually every other day , instead of sausages . Only ate 3 times in hotel for evening meal as there are so many good places to eat we found right on our doorstep , the meals that we did have there were most enjoyable no complaints , food and drinks are cheaper outside the hotel . The staff are very friendly and most helpful ,as were the security guards, the beach is so close to hotel which is why we also chose to stay at this hotel , the only thing I didn't like was our room had no sun , so drying towels etc,. Was very difficult ,we have only been back in the U.K three days and have now re-booked for next year , we have upgraded to a superior room next year , hoping we will get a room with a bit of sunshine to dry towels and be able to use balcony , terrace this time , we are looking forward to next Feburary when we return, I arrive on my Birthday , could not wish for a better place to be, a big thank you to all staff for an enjoyable holiday .ðMore
