The Imparator Hotel is a family-run place that brings together mountain views with a handy, central location.

The Imparator Hotel's star feature is its location. It's tucked down a Side street in Olu Deniz, so it's near the heart of town without being right in the thick of it. The hub of bars and restaurants is a 10-minute walk away, and you can reach the mile-long beach in about the same time. Plus, the world famous Blue Lagoon is only a few minutes further on.

The hotel is set out like a mini village, all sunshine-yellow buildings and wrought-iron balconies. Little pathways wind around the place and they're flanked by colourful gardens. There's a swimming pool and a smaller children's pool and, best of all, they both come with a side-order of mountain scenery.

Rooms are nice and bright, thanks to long windows and glass doors that let in plenty of light. Elsewhere, a rustic restaurant – think wood-beamed roof and stone fireplace – serves up a Med-style breakfast, including feta, fresh tomatoes and pastries.

At Olu Deniz a long stretch of sand and shingle curves around the bay leading to a secluded lagoon with turquoise waters. For the more adventurous, take to the clear blue skies in a microlight available from Olu Deniz. Headsets add to the thrill, allowing landmarks and ground features to be pointed out as you fly an exhilarating 2000ft over Olu Deniz, the Ghost Town or Fethiye. In terms of nightlife, evenings revolve around softly-lit restaurants and cosy bars. You’ll find a couple of nightclubs, too. If you want a livelier night out, Hisaronu, an inland resort nestling in the pine clad mountains above Olu Deniz, is only four kilometres away and easily reached by local dolmus.
