Pulled right up against a beach, the D-Resort Grand Azur is a luxurious hotel with a first class location.
From the setting to the décor, everything about this hotel is in line with its 5-star status. Take the lobby for instance, dressed in soft creams and marble. Upstairs, meanwhile, the bedrooms are just as elegant. Think muted colour schemes, simple wooden furniture and roomy private balconies. Plus, contemporary touches like air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars come as standard.
Outside, the D-Resort Grand Azur is surrounded by greenery, and there’s a beach at the bottom of the gardens. There’s also a great pool scene to make the most of. Snaking it’s way through the grounds, it looks more like a turquoise river than a swimming pool. Factor in a state-of-the-art spa and a traditional Turkish bath, and it’s easy to unwind here. On the activity front, meanwhile, there’s a well-equipped gym, a handful of floodlit tennis courts and a range of watersports on offer at the beach.
As for the food, there’s plenty of choice. You’ve got two restaurants to choose from, plus a coffee shop and a pool bar. Meals range from generous buffets to à la carte meals in the cosy Terrace restaurant, open a few times a week. And if romance is on the cards, head for the beach restaurant and dine on the edge of the sand. When you fancy eating out, Uzun Yali, with its strip of restaurants and bars, is a ten-minute walk away.

With a stunning setting in a natural bay surrounded by wooded mountains, Marmaris is one of the largest and best-developed of Turkey's resorts, located 100km from Dalaman airport, on the southwest coast. This was our first visit to Turkey and it will not be our last. This hotel had just got it right. Having breakfast and dinner on the wonderful terrace was something to look forward to each day. The staff, without exception, were all lovely and... more on this review
