Wonderful 2 weeks
Arrived at the Blue Bay Hotel on 1st June late in the evening. Was a bit disappointed that not having eaten a proper meal all day due to travelling all that was on offer when we arrived at 11.00 at night was soup without any bread or rolls to go with it. However, the level of food quality rapidly rose next morning when we arrived for breakfast and continued at that level for the whole 2 weeks with an expansive choice of good quality food on offer at breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the occasional trips to the patisserie and the pool side bars thrown in. In the evening the Sea Side bar was a great place to recover from the effort of sunbathing all day and the atmosphere benefited from the live music from Jay's guitar playing and singing and the excellent group (name unknown) who unfortunately only played one night whilst we were there. One observation though, it would be beneficial if the hotel were to advertise what entertainment was available at the Sea Side Bar so you can decide if you want to get there early enough to get a table or linger on the promenade or down town and not have to rush back. The pool areas were large enough to cope with the number of people using them even in early June with the temperature in the mid / high 30's. One of the reception staff set up my Wifi so that it worked a treat in the room. The room we had, 2014, was comfortable enough but one criticism is the size of the bathroom. I am 5'11'' thirteen and a half stone so not exceptionally large but even I couldn't manage to sit on the loo properly without the sink surround jutting into me but that's down to basic design and not the hotels fault. One comment is that we had to ask reception to get housekeeping to provide replacement shower gel and toilet rolls because the cleaner didn't leave any. However, there was no problem after the request. The hotel location is ideal being 200 yards from the beach if you prefer that to the pool during the day, and in the evening after a large meal a walk along the promenade to the harbour area of the town 20 minutes away, or along the road the hotel fronts onto with all the local shops to practise your bartering skills, is the ideal way to shake your dinner down. Would we go there again. We have a policy of never going anywhere twice but if it wasn't for that then yes, we would love to return. There is no reason why we wouldn't. Its an excellent hotel with excellent amenities and friendly helpful staff.More

Had fun at the hotel, the waiters and staff at the pool were great. The cooks were a bit rude when you try to ask about a dish. The ambiance is great and everything was very clean. The food really tasty and the waiters in the dining room were most helpful and friendly. But be careful as everyone at Marmaris will try to rip you off one way or another.... Hagle even at the doctors.More
Very clean and comfortable, but not without problems.
We just returned from the hotel after two weeks, we had a good holiday. On arrival we found staff at the hotel very helpful and friendly and we was taken to our room within minutes of booking in. Our room was overlooking the pool and was absolutely spotless and comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and the shower was beautiful, the maid came every day and provided clean towels, the room was cleaned and tidied. There was no balcony furniture upon arrival but that was soon rectified after speaking to the reception staff. There was two elevators on our level which took you down to the pool area and the other just down to the reception level, an issue I would like to bring to peoples attention is that cleaners and other hotel workers use these guest lifts to move their machinery and laundry baskets etc which can cause a lot of problems, especially for people with disibilites who cannot wait. When we first arrived at the restaurant on our first day for breakfast, we were initially impressed by what we saw, but the grim reality of the abismal service there soon became apparent. Waiters do their jobs and that's it, no smiling no chat. just a shout of "drink" with a finger pointed at you, head thrown back violently several times while shouting WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? Very unnerving to say the least. The variety of food on offer did not change for the two weeks we were there, we had to eat out a few days just to break the monotony. Take breakfast as an example. In the first pot, Boiled eggs in shell, in the second pot, scrambled eggs, (as runny as custard) the third pot, Baked Beans, the fourth pot, those little pink things that look like sausages, in what I thought was water? In the fifth pot, those little pink things that look like sausages in what I thought was water, but this time there was onion and green pepper chopped up in there. In the sixth pot, potatoes. Next the Chef is cooking omelette with cheese ( you have to queue for these) Then last there is a hotplate with fried eggs on. There is a selection of bread and cheese, and a toast making facility, also tea, coffee machines. This was breakfast every single day, NO CHANGE! Lunch and Dinner are just as monotonous. The food is hot, just select your table carefully. Above most tables are the Air Con Units, strongly blowing cold air over your food. (not good) If you fancy a cooked dinner, the first thing in the line is the gravy, then meat then veg, ok so you say, why not start at the other end? I did that, only to find I was going against the tide of people. WHY DON'T THEY PUT THE GRAVY AT THE OTHER END? ARRRR!! The snack bar near the pool, has chicken, pizza, burger and chips all day every day, no change. If you have read my reviews before, you will know that I like, nay love beer MMMmmmmBeeeeer I also like entertainment. For some reason at the Blue Bay, and I have never come across it before the stage and the bar are a resort apart. Now I am a Big Bob Joylove kinda guy and I understand that to get any decent service anywhere you have to grease the waiters palm. I give the waiter a bung on the first night, and never saw him again. There was a diffrent waiter every night just collecting glasses. I had to walk the length of the resort just to get a drink, missing all the entertainment. All that said, we did have a good holiday at this hotel. If they had a change of food now and then, moved the stage closer the the bar it would be the best hotel in Turkey.More

A modern stylish minimum decor hotel
We stayed here for a week from the 15th June having just spent a week aboard the Thompson Spirit Cruise ship. First mention must go to Nicola And Paula in Guest Services who are both English Ladies but both are fluent in Turkish and we found them most helpful in getting us moved to a quieter room towards the back of the hotel and their knowledge of ther surrounding area is all encompassing. You could do a lot worse than make their acquaintance upon arrival. The Thompson rep Farrah is also very helpful and knowlegeable and the excursion up the Dalyan River is to be highly recommended. The reception staff are very good as is the manager who is seemingly always on duty. This is a very modern hotel with a main block and two other blocks, three outdoor pools but be warned they are all 1.4 metres deep all over so if you are short like my wife you will be treading water all the time. However there is a 4th pool where the two slides are and this is 1.2 metres deep all over but not very big. There is a kiddies pool next to that at 40cm deep. Finally there is a indoor pool but it is attached to the Elixir Spa and is quite gloomy or atmospheric depending on your point of view.Spa treatments are quite pricey and with a bit of shopping around you can get them much cheaper. We paid £10 each for a sauna, scrub and foam massage and finally an oil massage just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.Club Dena. The food was plentiful and there is a good choice especially if you love salad. It is buffett style in the restaurant and also in the pool side snack bar where it was mainly the same most days being burgers, pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggetts, noodles, salad and of course chips. The restaurant offers a more comprehensive choice. All inclusive means local beers and spirits up to 11.30pm each night. Now to the entertainment.Very mediocre acts each night for about 45 mins and the night the animation team were on was dreadful. The team are young 20 somethings and are only interested in swimming pool games for the youngsters which is great if you are young (oh how I remember) . The private beach is more grit than sand so if you have toddlers who like playing in the sand then find somewhere else not Marmaris or Icemeler. The bonus on the beach is that the sunbeds are free and there are plenty of water sports to be hired. It takes about 3 minutes to walk to the beach across a piece of waste land and you have to pass the patissere on the way so couldnt resist a cake or three on the way there (and back). Our room was cleaned everday and fresh towels and linen supplied. The TV in the room had a couple of english channels BBC news etc but for £10 a week you could get a load of channels including Disney CBBC other kids programmes plus ITV BBC Channel 4 and 5 to name but a few.All rooms have HD flatsreen tv,s.. The safe in the room is free as is the air conditioning and there was a fridge and coffee making facilities but oddly no ceramic cups ( Peculiar to Turkey) ony cardboard ones. You can buy your own locally quite cheap. The exchange rate when we were there was over 40 turkish lira to the pound and we had changed some in the UK for a much lower rate so it might be worth waiting till you get there. All in all we had a excellent stay there and would recommend itMore
