This contemporary hotel lines up a city-centre location, a private patch of Marmaris Beach, and great pool and dining scenes.
The Blue Bay Platinum is set in the centre of Marmaris, with shops and bars on the doorstep. The harbour and old town are a few minutes’ drive away, and you’ve got a private section of next-door Marmaris Beach.
The hotel’s not long had a full makeover, so everything’s really contemporary – especially the bedrooms, with their blonde-wood furniture, beach-scene wall murals and aqua accents.
The restaurant offers a mixture of Italian and international cuisine, with classic wines and trendy cocktails. You'll also find large screen TVs and occasional entertainment. Book a table in advance as it's popular. The terrace is open, depending on the weather. You can visit one of the à la carte restaurants once as part of your holiday package with an extra surcharge of 9 pounds sterling per person.
These smart, contemporary rooms are spacious and airy - ideal for families as there's 2 bedrooms - there's a double room, a twin room and an extra child bed in the bedroom. And if you're looking for outside space - there's also a balcony. The rooms are fully air-conditioned with fridge, lounge, TV and you'll also have Wi-Fi*. Travelled as a couple, June 2015.
Straightforward check-in, room was a corner room with balcony and window on the second wall as well. Very clean and the bathroom, though small, was quite cute, and the walk-in shower did the job perfectly.
Food very good, in my opinion something for everyone, if you can't find anything you like then honestly I don't know, because there was plenty of choice. Lovely jugs with freshly pressed juices in the morning. A lovely cafe around the corner for your afternoon tea with cakes - don't miss this.
Found poolside a bit noisy sometimes (very loud music blaring), but it was only on our second last day that we discovered there is a quieter pool area around the side (behind the restaurant). Plenty of sun beds, though sometimes not always in location you would want to have it.
Not the fault of the hotel, but some of the guest's left plenty to be desired, drinking themselves to oblivion every day, shouting and screaming, pushing themselves into the pool incl sun lounger etc etc. (not British, not that it matters).
Animation team work very hard and doing a brilliant job. In fact, all the staff were good, and we had a good chat with a few of them
Outside the hotel: a short walk across a patch of wasteland (not very nice) to the beach, but most of the beach is tightly packed with sun loungers from respective hotels/ restaurants beach-side.
I personally don't like constantly being hassled to come into this and that restaurant and buy this and that, so we didn't go out too much at the end, but I guess this is the accepted way, and a friendly and firm NO usually does the trick.
All in all, a very enjoyable holiday. Would I go again : yesMore
Me and my boyfriend stayed here in July 2015.
The rooms look just like the photographs and cleaned everyday (have a light on your door you turn on or off to show if you want your room cleaned or not). Our room was on the pool side of the hotel which was noisy after 8pm with the mini disco and entertainment, followed by music from other bar. However this didn't bother us as we sat on the balcony and listened to the music with a few drinks.
The pool side and pool were cleaned all through the day with staff collecting glasses and rubbish, and there was always a sun lounger even if you wasn't up at 7am to place a towel!
The food had a wide selection of food, However, because i am a fussy eater i lived of chips for a week and the delicious pizza and pasta at the buffet near the pool at lunch time.
Overall there was nothing wrong with the hotel, food, rooms or staff! If we returned to turkey it would not be this hotel due to the Marmaris location and would prefer a quieter location. However, perfect if you love the nightlife as well as the beautiful beaches with children or alone!
Would return and recommend
I am a bit late with this review as we went in April last year. Rooms were small but clean, comfortable, and adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful. As it was the beginning of the season the Cuba bar was not open during our stay and the buffet lunch near the pool only opened half way through the week, the food there was excellent when it did open. Entertainment staff were extremely friendly and amusing, although if we had gone in high season would probably have gone to the quiet pool as I holiday to relax. I went to the spa on day one for a Turkish bath and massage and returned several times for a sports massage. An excellent experience and very reasonably priced once I had bartered with Kazim. It was a 25 minute steady walk into Marmaris, shopping was good but you have to barter, I bought several 'Tommy Hilfiger' T shirts and they are very good quality for fakes. We were all inclusive and I thought the food was outstanding, in fact I would say it was some of the best food I have had anywhere in the world, and I have travelled a lot.The gym facilities were good if you are into training. I got my holiday fairly cheap as it was the start of the season, and to be honest, if I had paid twice the price I would not have felt robbed, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would return.More
Good hotel but evening meals let us down
We stayed between 23rd to 30th December 2015 in this hotel. The hotel is located near to see (need to cross the road to access it)and within half an hour walking distance to centre of Marmaris
We understand this was off peak season, however as it is being 5 star hotel, we were expecting tasty and fresh food hence went for half board option rather than B&b.
The reception staff and porter were helpful and friendly. On our first night, we were not able to sleep due to noise from our neighbors. when we reported this reception following morning, we were offered new rooms on higher floors.
The hotel offers free car parking which was handy, if you have a car.
The hotel also offer indoor heated swimming pool which was to good to use each day.
However, restaurant service was poor. Even thought there were several staff in duty, the service was not prompt as the staff was talking each other rather than paying attention to the diners.
In terms of quality and taste of the food, the breakfast was nice, but the dinner menu was very poor considering the hotel claims it is 5 star establishment.
Due to low number of guest booked on half board, the hotel offered set menu each night(one night they served buffet dinner) which was 3 course meal.
However, we never experienced such 3 course set meal in our lives, as the there was only one starter option choice from each night (it was always a soup), very poorly presented salad (see the photo attracted), 3 main courses to choice from but they were in poor quality and very similar to each other each night (they might have re used the food following day), one dessert option (see the photo attached for the size of it - the same desert was served 3 nights out of 5 we ate in the hotel) - we thought 5 star hotel would have some standards but This was not the case for blue bag platinum. I am not sure how blue bay platinum can claim itself being 5 star establishment when it only offers one selection of starter and desert each night ?
I highlighted out dissatisfaction with our waiter in the Restuarant and he said there is nothing he can do about meal choices, as the decision is made by the management.
The following day after another very poor dinner service, I personally spoken with the duty manager who kindly listened my comments and offered us complimentary lunch which we kindly declined.
I think The management either needs to sort out the food offered to the guests in the evening or does not offer half board option in off peak seasons. Our mood was negatively impacted each night when we are in the hotel Restuarant due to quality of the food.
One evening, I have checked with the reception whether it will be buffet or set menu for the dinner and reception called the restaurant and confirmed that it would be buffet dinner. This conversation took place at 5.30pm and when we came down for dinner at 7pm, we were told that there were last minute cancellation of a group, so they had to cancel the buffet dinner.
In summary, I would recommend booking this hotel in half board basis in off peak seasons. However other comments suggest the food served in the high session may be different that what we experienced.More
Great hotel for all ages!
Travelled to Marmaris as a group of 2 young couples, upon booking and reading reviews I feared the hotel wasnt going to be suitable for our relaxing break due to complaints about loud music being played all day and night. I can honestly say this was not the case and our room was facing onto the pool. Music was played at the main pool from afternoon until early evening before entertainment started, but there is a quiet pool where loud music is not allowed at the front of hotel.
Everywhere/everything in this hotel is so clean and well presented including the staff, who are very friendly and willing to help.
Rooms are spacious enough and bathroom is so nice with amazing shower!! Our balcony was pretty small due to being in a corner and having an air vent blocking most of it but we preferred to spend most of the time at the pool. Our friends had a bigger balcony which we all enjoyed sitting on at night.
Food in the hotel was lovely, we expecially liked breakfast, lunch and the snack bar which has a wide range of foods to suit all. We werent so keen on dinner as we are fussy eaters.
Entertainment staff are fantastic, dont know where they get their energy from! Plenty to keep kids occupied while parents are relaxing.
Having stayed in various hotels in Marmaris can honestly say Blue Bay tops the lot, it is so clean, modern and in a perfect location! We have booked up to return May 2016!!More
