Blue Bay Platinum

This contemporary hotel lines up a city-centre location, a private patch of Marmaris Beach, and great pool and dining scenes.

The Blue Bay Platinum is set in the centre of Marmaris, with shops and bars on the doorstep. The harbour and old town are a few minutes’ drive away, and you’ve got a private section of next-door Marmaris Beach.

The hotel’s not long had a full makeover, so everything’s really contemporary – especially the bedrooms, with their blonde-wood furniture, beach-scene wall murals and aqua accents.

Great holiday worth the money!!!

Myself, my husband and my 1 year old had our 2 week holiday here. The resort is amazing rooms vary - we had a massive balcony but someone else we knew who was staying here had the tiniest balcony that you couldn't sit outside so is luck! Not much storage drawers but managed to place all our clothes in wardrobe shelves. Got topped everyday with fresh bottles of water so never needed to buy any had to much if anything! The bar staff is brilliant always supplying us a variety of drinks and making special cocktails - especially in the lounge. The snack bar was brilliant and always served us first as the main guy loved my son and was always calling out to him. They make brilliant kebabs and a great variety of food. The restaurant served a brilliant variety of food-roast dinners, Chinese and steaks which was brilliant better than any other all inclusive that I have been to that normally serve there own traditional food the only suggestion I would make is that they serve more variety of potatoes rather than just chips for dinner the croquettes they do at lunch time is amazing! Why wasn't there any at lunch or mash potato? The staff in the restaurant did keep coming up to my son whilst trying to eat which did disturb him so he wouldn't eat properly so had to take food/snacks out of the restaurant with us. Pools were brilliant but my son found the childrens pool to cold and the indoor one was like ice so spent most of our time at the relax pool or main pool by restaurant. The animation team were good providing pool games every lunchtime to win the resort tshirt. Didn't get to see the evening entertainment much as we feel 9pm was to late for our 1 year old to join in this should be earlier. We managed to catch one show on our last night - Michael Jackson and transformers show which looked good. Had our a free meal at le Primo was brilliant food, great quality and great service. Need to book in advance as they book up pretty quick. This holiday was our honey moon which I feel they could have made more special for us. They gave us a bottle of wine and small bunch of flowers but these attracted ants so had to throw out. Have heard people had a private jacuzzi not sure how they had this but that would have been nice. But overall Would recommend this hotel and may stay again! More

Platinum by name Silver by nature

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Blue Bay Platinum in Marmaris. I have read the reviews prior to our visit and those since we've returned and clearly reviews are subjective and open to interpretation. Having travelled a little bit, it's impossible not to mentally compare other hotels and people from the different relevant countries. So, here's our take ... Blue Bay is not only platinum by name but also part of Thomsons platinum range, so one of their better ones? Firstly, it's pretty new, it's bright & shiny and clean ; all the visuals tell you it's from the platinum range but for us it doesn't quite make it and that's down to customer service. The rooms were clean & nice, public areas likewise... pools and surroundings scrubbed by machine on a daily basis. The restaurant and outdoor snack bar were fine. So, if you decide to book and cleanliness is your thing, have no fear. If you're after that personal touch we'd recommend elsewhere. All bar one of the reception staff were aloof, the restaurant staff were cold to say the least ; the bar staff just kids with no people skills therefore a race to serve everyone then throw the drinks at you with no eye contact. If any equipment was wheel based then it was riden around the complex by staff, quite funny but lacked in professionalism. (Bellhops, catering staff etc) This may sound like I'm giving the hotel a good kicking, it wasn't terrible just not a 4 star Platinum. Honestly what we didn't enjoy was the claustrophobic feel of the pool scene, 3 pools jam packed with sunbeds, and I mean the armrests touching.... less is more, we're all on holiday, give us some space please. The hotel does have it's own stretch of beach about 500 yards away and this warrants a mention because it was more 'sardine like' than the pool scene and without doubt the daftest and most shallow man made beach I've ever seen... from water's edge to promenade , 30ft !! BUT, the view out was stunning. Whilst the restaurant was clean the quality and choice of food was average and I would like to point out that we're not at all fussy eaters. We agreed that this was our least favourite all inclusive venue with regards to food. (Greece, Canaries, Balearics, Portugal) Sorry Turkey !! Small niggly things were .... lack of drawer space for clothes storage, having to shell out for a safe (why do they all charge us? incorporate it into the price) plastic glass if you're sitting outside, 90% adults when we stayed, treat us like adults. Positive was the on site Spa, 3 hours of total enjoyment. The people worthy of praise was Nicola the hotel liason, Paula the Thomson rep & the waiter 'Figo' .... thank you. **** TIP*** It will cost you but it's worth every penny Get a private transfer from Dalaman airport ( 1hr 15 mins) OR it's an horrendous 2 hr plus coach transfer. Cost us £90 for both ways... air conditioned joy. The boat trips are lovely The Bazaars (shopping) a major disappointment (Fake City) The Harbour is stunning Taksi (Taxi , prefer their spelling) Fred Flinstone mobiles but cheap. Kebabs .... such a disappointment ; hello, we're in Turkey ?! That's All Folks ...... hope it helpsMore

Not really a 4 star !!!

Having been to turkey a few months before but to Antalya and loved it decided to give marmaris a go . Must say a bit disappointed . First impression at reception was it looks good Room a bit disappointing . No bed side tables to place a book and glass water .also with a lovely view of big air condition blowers that fed the whole hotel .and lots of traffic of main road .. Didn't sit on balcony The was a lot of staff at hotel . But not attentive or helpful .pool area not clean . They pick up glassed .that's about it Food at restaurant basic and same every day .except for a few meals served by a few chefs . But still poor quality Local drinks that a served are horrid . Red wine like vinegar This is the first time I have given a poor review Oh and had to leave pool area earlier on the sat because the boss had a party for his son Which was a circumcision / weddingMore

Blue bay good and bad

My wife and I booked the Blue bay Platinum after seeing the hotel from the road on a previous trip, and thought that it looked very nice. We flew out on the 9th Sept 2014 and arrived at 4 am on the 10th. On first arrival the hotel looked nice, the staff were polite, and we were shown to our room. We were given a family room overlooking the road , although we had requested a room over the pool it was not guaranteed. However this was a larger room with a bunk-bead and a double bed, so personally I was not that bothered, although my wife would have preferred a room over the pool. The room was clean on first impression but this was not to last. Over the next few days as we passed the cleaner each day we came back to our room to find it had not been cleaned. When the weekend came there were three different cleaners and our bin and towels were changed , but very little else was done. By the Monday this was the last straw, and first thing we went down to Nicola the guest relations manger, and she made one phone call, and it was sorted straight away. So thankyou to Nicola who was lovely, and very helpful and honest. A very good trait. Inside the hotel was nice, and overall the staff were very friendly. although be careful of the man in reception who will tell you anything to get rid of you.Not very nice atall. The swimming pools are wonderful, and you can usually get a sunbed at any time, but be aware of the so called quiet pool as this can get busy with the sun worshippers early in the day. Overall the food was nice, although it did get a bit repetitive sometimes, and could be more varied. One of the gripes with this hotel we had was the lack of entertainment. One night they announced a Turkish night, which lasted all of 30 mins and the dancers couldn't get away quick enough at the end. Another night we waited for the childrens entertainment to finish at 21:30 only to watch bingo tickets being handed out. Not my thing atall., and most nights we found ourselves going out of the hotel, or having an early night in the evening. Another bad thing that I think is worth mentioning is the hotel coffee. All coffee in the hotel is from a coffee machine, NO FRESH MILK ?? not even in the dining areas, and paper cups to match even in the rooms. I would have expected better than that for a hotel of that calibre, especially one that claims to be eco-friendly ( saving on waste). Two nights in the restaurant at dinner time they even ran out of cups so no coffee. So what is good about this hotel? Overall this is a very nice looking classy hotel , which lets itself down in certain areas, and there is obvious room for improvement. The lobby's look a bit sad and can get very hot, but then you are not in them for long. The communal areas are always clean, and the all inclusive food and drink is great as it is what you have paid for and should expect. Location wise the hotel is ideally situated right in the heart of Marmaris and there is plenty of ways to travel around. The private beach belonging to the hotel I did find usually rather busy and very dirty, dog ends, rubbish etc, but this seems to be a problem with all the beaches on the ,Marmaris coast line, perhaps they should clean them frequently. We would also like to thank Paula who is the Thomson rep for this hotel who can be found in the main lobby 5 days a week and will always help you if she can. Thanks Blue bay for the experience. We both liked your hotel overall, but thought there was room for improvement in certain areas.More

platinum more like ALLUMINIUM

The entrance faces a main road, in front is traffic lights, People with disabilities may struggle, no assistance by the staff was offered. The foyer is light, bright and spacious. We were given a room in the older part of the hotel blocks on the top floor ( I do have walking difficulties ) ,the room bore no resemblance to the brochure photos. Quite a fair amount of outside space with 3 pools ( one for children ) plenty of sun beds and places around, but some areas the afternoon sun is blocked by accomodations blocks. There are outside bars near the pools. The evening meals are from 6 to 9pm sharp, 8-45 i was in a queue behind some of the staff!!, finally arrived for a portion of chips to accompany the dried up meat on my plate, but told NO MORE ALL GONE, WE COOK NO MORE !!! What other hotels allow staff to eat with paying guests ? The waiters are not trained, they take you plate and drinks when not finished with. The food serving spoons are in upright cradles in cold (full of bacteria) food, these are never washed during meal times, The soup bears no resemblance to what its label says. The room cleaners turn up anywhere between 9am to 6pm, never clean the floors, just change towels and straighten the bed cover (only 1 bed cover). Although All inc I ate most meals in cafes nearby. I doubt if any of the staff who deal with the food either prep, cooking or serving have any FOOD HYGIENE CERTIFICATES !!!!. The shingle beach is about 100yards from hotel. i certainly made a bad choice of hoilday hotel. Could never even think of a return visit. One more thing, NO DRAWS IN ROOMS, WHY.More
