With two pools, a lively entertainment scene and a close-to-town setting, the family-run Albatros Apartments fire on all cylinders. The beach is within reach, too - it'll take about 15 minutes to walk there.
This place is in a really handy spot if you like to get out and about on holiday. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the centre of Marmaris, and the beach is roughly the same distance. Better still, if you don’t fancy the walk there’s a local bus that’ll get you there in around five minutes. Closer to the hotel, you’ll find a good choice of shops and restaurants.
The apartments themselves are divided between two blocks - each with a pool. At the main pool, suntrap terraces border the water, plus there's a splash pool for younger guests. Just a few steps away across the road, you’ll find the second, smaller pool, surrounded by orange trees and trailing vines, where the vibe is a lot quieter.
When it comes to food and drink, you’ve got a restaurant-come-bar by the main pool. It’s decked out with wicker chairs and serves drinks, snacks and meals all day long. For breakfast, expect all the usuals like cereals, pastries and fresh fruit. Lunch and dinner bring local specialities, as well as more familiar dishes like Sunday roasts. In the evenings, this place is the focus of the entertainment, too – think quizzes, karaoke and a weekly Turkish night.
As for the apartments, each one comes with one or two bedrooms. They’re all kitted out with understated colours, simple furniture and neat kitchenettes. Balconies, hairdryers and TVs are included, too.
Go to the pool restaurant bar for cocktails, hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice-cream and all day meals. Expect Continental-style breakfasts, local specialities for lunch and dinner - they even do a roast dinner on Sundays. Turkish night has over 30 cold mezze dishes and barbecue food, this is held at the restaurant with entertainment.
These simply furnished apartments make a good holiday base. They can sleep up to four with a twin bedroom and two sofa beds in the lounge. To make life easy, there's a daily maid service with towels and linen change twice a week. There's a kitchenette for making snacks, a satellite TV with some English channels and a balcony or terrace for a bit of outside space.
These apartments come with all your basic holiday needs, including a kitchenette with a kettle and two electric rings for making snacks. There's air-con in the bedrooms at a charge, plus TV with limited English channels. To make it more of a break, there's daily maid service and twice weekly towel and linen changes too.
I'd start by saying that I absolutely understand this is a 2* rated place and you can see from my previous reviews that I do take the rating of the place into account when doing my reviews. Even taking this into account I would say that this is probably the poorest quality apartment I have stayed in. From the time we turned up to a partly cleaned apartment where the lights didn't work to the end where despite paying to keep the room on to late the cleaner started cleaning before we left (sorry to the people who only got a part cleaned apartment after we showered/used it before we left). I only rate this as a 1 although we did had a couple of problems which the lady in reception did get sorted out for us, albeit these were problems with the apartment which we shouldn't have had in the first place. I am surprised that Thomson take anyone to these apartments as the experiences we told the rep about were of no surprise to him - being overcharged for food/drinks is the norm so I would suggest you as you go, or as a minimum settle up regularly during the day. The apartments will charge you for everything you can possibly think of - anyone who has watched Les Miserables should thing of the inn keeper song and this will give you an idea of how this is run - 1 loo roll for who stay, holes in towels/bedding, blood on pillows/walls to name just a few low lights. I can only think that the people who have rated this highly need to cast their holiday net wider, reset their expectations or are so friendly with the owners they have been blinkered to how bad this place is.More

first and last trip to these apts
We went to these apts for our first trip to turkey and it turned out to be a BIG mistake. When we arrived at the apts we we shown to our rooms and could not have been more disappointed, the kitchen unit doors were broken, the two ringed cooker had only one ring that worked .a panel had fallen of one of the sofas which left sharp pins sticking out of it ,half of our utensils plates pans crockery and cutlery were missing,we had two single beds in our room the base of each bed were covered in stains the bedding we were given was also covered in stains which was very offputting we tried to speak to the management about our concerns but this turned out to be like an episodeof faulty towers as they could not understand us i think the most laughable part was when we went to get into our apt one evening and our door handle fell of h in our hand honestly it was like something from a comedy sketch, that was just our room then we discovered that we had a nightmare family in the room next door who caused trouble with 90 percent of the hotel guests us included not good at all.As i said this was our very first trip to turkey and whilst there were many many many negatives about these apts the bar staff and pool staff here were very nice just a shame that the management cant follow suit please please please if you are travelling to turkey for a holiday whether its your first time or your tenth DO NOT GO TO THESE APTS.More

had a great time
The albatros appartments was a good base for a good holiday. The prices for food inc ice creams were very reasonable. The only thing that let this hotel down was the cleanliness and maintenance in room. Being only a three star I don't expect the ritz ! The bar and pool area always seemed lovely and clean. I don't think the maids really bothered much whilst we were there for 2 weeks, the bedding was stained and ripped but this didn't stop us having a good holiday. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the food you couldn't fault.Air con at £30 a week wasn't man enough for the apartment. James place for excursions just around the corner were great.More

My husband, 2 sons & I stayed at the Albatros Apartments for the first time at the end of July for 2 weeks.
After reading some of the reviews we were a bit worried...but there was no need to be.
The apartments are family run and we were given a warm welcome by all the staff - who work exceptionally hard.
We were in room 503 which was in block 2 which is the building with the reception. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was a decent size, however there is only an archway separating the living area from the bedroom. There is a small kitchen area with a 2 ring hob, a kettle and a fridge with an ice box freezer (personally I think a toaster would be a great addition to the kitchen).
The towels were changed every other day and the bedding every 4/5 days. I know there have been comments about some marks on the bedding/towels and this is the case but they ARE clean and it must be difficult to keep these spotless with sun creams etc. and i'm pretty sure we contributed to that!
Unfortunately, there is only air conditioning in the bedroom (which was charged locally at £30 per week) and it took a while to cool the room down because there was no door to close. We did have a fan in the living area where my husband and I slept but unless it was pointed directly at you it made little difference. Our apartment got the sun from noonish until sundown and was VERY warm. Would recommend that if your in block 2 you as for an apartment that doesn't face the road.
Our balcony door was never closed during the whole 2 weeks - even when we were out - and we never felt that there was any kind of security issue.
Every meal we had in the restaurant was delicious and if it wasn't on the menu they'd make it for you. I thoroughly recommend the Turkish dishes. It's also quite inexpensive. I'd like to add that we were never once hassled about not eating in the restaurant nor were we hassled about upgrading to half board. We actually asked if this was an option and they didn't seem to have a clue what it meant!
There is entertainment brought in every night. Some fab and some not so good...and you are encouraged to tip. Turkish night is a must!
There are two pools, these and the surrounding areas are kept clean and well maintained. We opted for the less busy one across the road in block 1. There were the usual people who put their towels out when they came in at night and don't appear until lunchtime the next day. The sunbed issue became a bit worse towards the end of our holiday with people 'claiming' beds and leaving their towels on them overnight...and for the duration of their holiday! Some went on excursions and didn't appear until after 4 in the afternoon and others didn't appear at all!
We never once saw a cat in the apartments or the pool area but there is a resident dog. Zena the husky is owned by Anna at reception and she is a lovely animal who just wants to lie in the shade and loves attention.
Would like to say many thanks to Brian, Carlos, Vulcan an the rest of the staff at Albatros for making our stay so great. We hope to see you again soon.More

Got back this morning from a 10 night stay at the Albatros apartments with my husband, 14 year old daughter and 3 year old son. We only booked the holiday two days before we came. Please do not listen to the (very few) bad reviews on here, the place is great. The rooms are basic but large, the three pools are lovely and even during the busy season, have plenty of room to swim in. The location is perfect as if you want to stay in Armutalan then you ave everything within walking distance or you can jump in a taxi for 3-4minutes and get to Marmaris for even more choice. The one thing that makes the Albatros better than anywhere else is the staff. They are pretty much all family and treat all their guests like superstars. Particularly Bryan (Semir) who is bar manager and absolutely amazing!!!! Vulcan, Ebo and Carlos are also fab, as is everyone else. The food here is always piping hot and amazing, I can particularly recommend the lamb shank!!! Hope this helps......any questions, feel free to message me. XxxxxMore
