Villa Vineyard Heights

in Kizilyaka , Turkey - Dalaman

  • Set amongst a vineyard and fruit orchards
  • Fantastic pool
  • Great for relaxing
“Spacious, secluded and with great scenery, Vineyard Heights Villa is as far from the madding crowd as it gets.”
With a countryside spot just outside sleepy , Vineyard Heights is a real antidote to everyday life. For starters, its gardens are lovely. Think lawns, vineyards and fruit orchards that stretch as far as the eye can see. It’s like a scene from a landscape painting.

To make the most of the views there’s a spacious veranda, accessorised with tables, chairs and conservatory-style seats. And it looks over the big private pool, which is bordered by sun beds. You’ll also find a few secluded seating areas dotted around the gardens. So you can sip wine under the grape vines, lounge on over-sized cushions on the lawn and enjoy al fresco meals on the terrace.

The villa itself is just as impressive. With four bedrooms in the main house and a pair of self-contained one-bedroom apartments to the rear, it’s more than your average holiday home. And whether you book it all or just part of it, home-from-home comfort and traditional Turkish style go hand in hand. Authentic furnishings and tiled floors give it an authentic edge.

As for the layout, in the main house has a comfy lounge and dining area big enough to seat twelve. You’ll find one double room downstairs with its own bathroom. Upstairs, meanwhile, there’s an en suite master bedroom, a double room, a smaller room for one and a bathroom. Last but not least, the apartments both have a double bedroom, a bathroom and a living area with either a sofa bed or single bed.

The best thing about Vineyard Heights, though, is the little extras. You can help yourself to the fruit that grows in the garden – just make a note of what you use and pay a small charge to the housekeepers before you leave. Speaking of housekeepers, the family that look after Vineyard Heights live just outside the premises so they’re always on hand to help out.

Your guide to Kizilyaka, Turkey - Dalaman

“Kizilyaka is rural Turkey the way it should be – modestly beautiful and almost completely untouched by tourism.”

As you turn off the Dalaman-Marmaris highway, you’ll feel like you’ve taken a sudden step back in time. It’s as if someone forgot to tell the village that it’s the 21st century. Not that that’s a bad thing. In fact, if you want to discover a Side of Turkey that very few people know about, then you’ve struck gold. Here sun-drenched days are best spent exploring the countryside, chatting to the locals or simply savouring the peace and quiet. As far as amenities go, Kizilyaka has a few family-run restaurants offering locally-grown, homemade food. There’s also a small shop and a petrol station. For more choice, the busy fishing town of Akyaka is a 15-minute drive away. As well as a great beach, it’s got plenty of shops, restaurants and sights – a visit to the old harbour is a must. And rather than playing host to crowds of foreign visitors, this place is where the Turks go on holiday. So praise doesn’t come much higher than that. And if you don’t mind travelling a bit further, the ruins of Ephesus, the largest ancient city outside of Greece, are about four hours away.
