Efem Apartments

Good-looking buildings are paired with pretty hill views at Efem Apartments. They also throw in an in-house pool and a beach that’s only a 5-minute drive away.

With great views of pine-stacked mountains and Icmeler’s heart a 15-minute walk away, the Efem Apartments have a pin-drop peaceful setting. Plus, with wheels, it’s only a 5-minute drive to a long sandy beach.

At the centre of the grounds there’s a swimming pool fringed by sunloungers. It’s finished off with a multi-coloured waterslide that’s as popular with adults as it is with children. Plus, little ones get their own paddling area. Meanwhile, the poolside snack bar serves up evening meals, barbecues, and regular Turkish theme nights.

Inside, the studios and apartments are decorated in neutral colours, and those on the top floor have quirky attic-style ceilings and angular windows. They all come with balconies and kitchenettes equipped with the basics.

In need of renovation

Rooms are of a very basic standard and are in desperate need of renovating. We stayed in room 302; the cupboard door in the bedroom was hanging on by one hinge; the headboard for one of the single beds had been ripped off the wall and was later found on top of the cupboard. The bathroom was small and pokey. The shower cubicle needed regrouting and the holes in the wall from previous plumbing jobs were only covered with self adhesive labels which previous occupants had poked their fingers through. The sink and toilet also leaked from their bases and we continually had to mop the floor with a towel. The kitchen units have seen better days and were in very poor condtion. The toaster did not work and the kettle would not automatically turn itself off after boiling. The walls throughout the apartment were also scuffed and dirty. The apartment was superficially clean, we found a used razor and a dirty sock under one of the beds left by previous occupants. The pool area was generally okay but again needs bringing up to standard. The green non slip matting surrounding the pool had come unstuck in several areas which resulted in a greater risk of tripping. On two occasions, the main drain under the tables in the bar erupted flooding the area with raw sewage which was hosed down by bar staff and then swept into the pool. Not acceptable. The reception area, where passports were initially kept upon arrival for registration, was insecure and other guests were free to enter it unchallenged. At times the boom, boom music from the pool side bar was too lound and intrusive. Some of the song lyrics were also unsuitable for young children. Unlike many reviewers, we will not be returning next year.More

Fantastic holiday

Just returned from a week in Efem Apartments on Monday and we had a lovely time from start to finish. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful at all times, we stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was lovely and clean and an excellent air conditioning which was needed. The apartments are located approx 10 minute straight walk into the centre of icmeler and many nice restaurants near the apartments if you didn't want to venture out. Overall thoroughly enjoyed it and would strongly recommend it to other people and I am looking forward to going back in the future.More

Best holiday ever!

Can genuinely say iv had the best holiday of my life this year. Returned from my 2 week stay at the efem apartments in August this was my fourth stay there and can honestly say it definitely will not be my last. Already looking to book for next year. Ok so the rooms aren't amazing, there basic but worth the price you pay. We stayed in a 1 bed apart and payed for air con and the safe. The rooms were cleaned nearly everyday and the towels and bedding was changed regularly, always got hot water and the shower was very powerful. The pool is a great size and the slide goes down a treat with both kids and adults. However some families were putting towels on sun beds the night before but staff took them off and piled them up. If your staying here then definitely try the BBQ nights and pool party they are amazing. On to the staff ONur the owner we've know him years now and he is truly an amazing man so caring and always willing to do anything for you, the two bar men Mehmet and Faye these guys are amazing and always looking out for us Mehmet is one of the sweetest guys iv ever met. Then there's the two little lads furkan and ilker they work so hard everyday and are only 14 and 16. These are the people who make us want to return here every year. Can say I will never find anywhere else as good as these apartments. More

Efem 'Fawlty' Towers - and we weren't laughing!!

Have just spent 10 nights at this poor excuse for a hotel. We were on the top floor, an attic room, which consisted of 1 bedroom and another room with two sofa beds for the kids. Both rooms had very low, sloping ceilings, which we lost count of how many times we banged our heads on. The toilet / shower room was really dirty and smelly. Trickle of water coming out of the shower, normally cold water, hose came out and broke one night and had to be replaced. Cupboard doors hanging off, curtains held up with a key, dirty sheets and towels, stains on walls. We only used the pool a couple of times as other guests were putting towels down on sun-beds and management were scared of upsetting other guests so didn't do anything about it. Other holiday makers said they had similar bad experiences with their rooms. Can't believe people return to this hotel. We have been to Turkey many times and appreciate you are not going to get 'Hilton' quality, but generally would expect a better basic amenities.More

A good little base

Have just returned from a week at the Efem apartments - it was a last minute booking and was really reasonably priced for the summer holidays. When we arrived our room was not ready, but we were able to change in the reception hut and use the pool etc. Our room (404) was really clean and was cleaned and clean linen/towels throughout the week. The room was basic with a bedroom (2 single beds) and living room (with bed settee and single chair bed made up. The kitchen is very basic with a toaster and 2 electric rings and nothing really to do any cooking with (but this did not worry us as we had no intention of cooking anyway) - there was also a fridge. There was no washing up cloth or liquid either to wash up cups and glasses so would have to buy it (this would be a nice added extra). There is only one air conditioning unit in the whole apartment and this is in the bedroom - this is not ideal if you are sleeping in the living room - it was really hot when we were there - we asked reception for a fan and they were very accommodating and one arrived shortly after we requested it. (Be advised you will be asked to pay £30 for air con and £10 for the safe on arrival - so have some English money with you). The bathroom was compact but clean - we had a shower cubicle - but the shower was USELESS!! There was little or no pressure and you could NOT get the temperature right - so we resorted to sitting in the cubicle and running the tap and showering/washing under that - not ideal - but tolerable for 1 week. The pool was spotlessly clean and a good size for the appts - the slide is a great addition and a hit with kids and adults. Some days the times that the slide is on is a bit hit and miss - sometimes it will be on all day, sometimes it will only be on for a few hours. There are quite a few sun beds around the pool but in true English tradition sun beds are reserved early - some people were reserving beds the night before - but the staff were taking off these towels. Many people were not using their "reserved" beds until quite late in the day - which is frustrating for people without beds. If you speak to the staff they are usually able to find spare beds in their store. The bar is a good place to sit and relax out of the sun in the day with a cold drink. Memet, Fayes and other staff work incredibly hard and very long hours and are very friendly and welcoming. They have a good system whereby you can grab a drink from the tall fridges and just let them know what you have and they will create a tab for you. Fayes makes a mean cocktail :). The bar also makes food/snacks - we had breakfast, toasted sandwiches and chips on a couple of occasions. The prices were reasonable. The bar stays open as long as people are there drinking - they also do a Turkish night and pool party which were fun. There is a supermarket just 100 yds away down the road on the right that was very friendly and stocked all of the things that you could need. Also 100 yds away was a fantastic bar called Wembley Bar that does great food, drinks and cocktails at fantastically cheap prices. I would definitely recommend the Efem apartments and if I were to return to Icemeler would not hesitate in staying here again. Thank you for a fun week guys xMore
