Fantastic first trip to Turkey

Hotel clean and cool the food (I was worried about the food as I am very fussy ) excellent lots of English food and as the food is laid out buffet style an opportunity to sample a little bit of different local foods you wouldn't normally try .Location is superb with the backdrop of the mountains and a cool breeze running through the complex. Stars of the show have to be Charlie the entertainment manager and his team Frankie Delara and DJ Alan they keep all ages entertained all day (and evening ) long. Charlie should have his own show I would watch it every night Ladies and Gentlemens ! Close enough to walk into the local town for your gifts and souvenirs we took a trip with Guide tours that was excellent value to the mud baths and turtle beach for around £15 for the day . Only two downsides lots of steps if your mobility is not the best this may not be the hotel for you And the Spa guy far too pushy and a little creepy my daughter refused to exchange our beach towels as it meant walking past him, he needs to realise no means no. All the other staff were more than helpful and very very nice and polite ps a few words in Turkish go a long way and bring a big smile ! We will come back again as soon as we can 5 starsMore

Wonderful little hotel

We have 2 days left of our 2 week holiday. We've had an amazing holiday and our 2nd time in this area. Hotel is clean, comfortable and very well run. Check in was very quick with a selection of sandwiches waiting for us and drinks in our room. Porter got us straight to room, made sure we were comfortable then left. Pool areas are clean with plenty of clean loos not too far away. All rooms are near to the restaurant bar and pool so it's not a hike back to your room if you need anything. Entertainment staff are great and offer a very good selection of entertainment. There's plenty to see and do in this beautiful area of turkey. Book trips with a local company, they really need the business it's much quieter in Turkey due to recent troubles but has had no impact on our holiday at all. Food is great, well cooked, the chefs regularly inspect that all is well, the head chef is there morning noon and night cooking and checking, they are very proud of their quality and so they should be. Every effort is taken to make sure we are well cared for and don't become Ill. They only use bottled water in juice and coffee machines, water machine is sealed bottles. Waiting staff are regularly washing hands tables etc. I must mention Ali G the photographer he is absolutely fantastic our photos are awesome, we paid more than we wanted but the quality is exceptional and worth every penny, we wish he had done our wedding photos. He will tailor his packages just ask. He is a genuine nice fella. Drinks are the usual local brands but staff put plenty in and soon learn your favourite and do all they can for you. We will return here and can't recommend this place enough, Turkey is a beautiful country with lovely people. Thank you AES club hotel for a truly fabulous holiday we will see you again. More

Mixed feelings

Stayed here with my adult daughter earlier this month for 10 nights. First impressions were good lovely clean reception, but the reception staff do not speak or have much understanding of English, despite the fact that 90% of the guests are English. We were greeted by Charlie the Thomson rep, she was great and helped us to our rooms as no porter staff were available.......the ramp is something to behold!! Our room was in the 'quiet' block thankfully. The view was limited and the balcony small, but all that said it was clean and comfortable. I found the bed ok but my daughter said it was hard, and slept on top of a duvet for our stay. Air con was great and a necessity as temperatures were in the high 30 and peaked at 45 (wow that was hot). A kettle and tea/coffee available and 2 small waters every day. Staff were all great in the restaurant and the head chef greets you at each meal, which was a nice touch. Food was a bit repetitive but lots of choice always salad stuff, always soup and two or three main choices. Puddings were lovely, fruit and some nights ice cream. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner all served in the restaurant) Turkish night was our favourite. There is a snack bar at the side of the pool which serves burgers at lunch time, cake at 5pm and night time soup! The pool was clean and refreshing, lots of sun beds and shade available, well for the first week...... The second week the hotel was full and the towels started being put out at 7am! And at times more lilos in the pool than people. Very mixed age groups the first week then more families as the school holidays started at home. They appear to have a bee problem too, especially around the soft drinks machine. Several people were stung. The pool bar is really the only bar... And this is the only place to sit day time and night time too. Yes they play music all day, but as someone who doesn't really do music, it's was ok, a bit or a mix and not banging dance stuff, I even found my self singing along. The entertainment crew were good they got to know who wants to join in and who doesn't. 'Mini Disco Time' was very repetitive 9.15pm every night the same tunes the same dances and the same kids. There was nowhere else to sit so whether you like it or not you are stuck with it. The nights entertainers were 'professionals' and generally started at 10pm. We had different acts over the 10 days we were there. (Fire acts, dance troops and acrobats) some were really good some ok. Other nights the entertainment team played bingo and karaoke or a miss/mr Aes Club. However on one night the entertainment manager ran around with a lit firework stuck to his bottom!! This was in front of children too. I'm not a prude but really?! The queues at the bar in the evenings was annoying, only one server so slow and then people started getting double drinks rounds so that slowed it down even more. Waited over half an hour on a couple of nights. We used the spa at the hotel which was really good. We didn't pay the prices originally quoted though..... Now the 'spa guy' well.............annoying is not the word! You collect your pool towels from the spa and he pounces..... You lay on your sun bed and he pounces........ You pass the door, you return your towel etc etc etc. So many people wanted to shove him in the pool! Me and my daughter had the full treatment (steam room, Turkish bath, coffee scrub, mud and relaxing massage) it was really good and the two guys were great (women are available). When we had finished the 'spa guy' sat us down and tried to sell us more treatments 3 for my daughter and 4 for me and all for £100+ so after saying no we finally walked out. He then turned up at our sun beds that afternoon with a bargain price! (Needless to say I sent him packing) The hotel is on a hill so there are steps and steep ramps everywhere. There is a disabled stair chair but only on the main stairs to the reception. The restaurant has a ramp at the back. We walked in to Ovacik which is up hill and we walked on the level road to the next town of Hisaronu where there is a market on Mondays. We used the Dolmus (local buses) to get to Oludeniz and Fethiye (market on Tuesday's). We used the free shuttle bus to the beach too. The beach is small and on the lagoon, nice facilities and snack bar. A few negative nit picks...... The floor in our room seemed to have sunk outside the bath room, the toilet flush kept sticking the fridge was not really cold and the time restrictions on pool towels was a bit annoying, but none of these ruined our holiday. Overall it was good for money and fine for us. If you want luxury then probably not for you. I think it is a good place for families, the children liked the main pool (there is a small toddler pool area) and seemed to enjoy the activities, table tennis, pool tables and the entertainment crew. Big question would I go again Would I recommend it ......... For Families yes. Budget yes. More
