Villa Yasemin

It's sometimes hard to believe that just 17 kilometres outside a resort like Fethiye you can still find tiny pockets of unspoilt Turkey. But it's here that you'll find the sleepy, rural village of Uzumlu and, on its outskirts, Villa Yasemin. Individual and modern though Villa Yasemin is, it was sensitively designed by a local architect using stone, wood and red roof tiles. And as a result it sits perfectly with the natural surroundings and the more traditional village buildings. Inside, the cream walls and tile or wood floors reflect the light from the floor to ceiling windows – making the rooms bright and airy. Plump cream sofas invite you to sink into their depths and blue and white striped curtains flutter in the breeze. Peek out of any window in the villa and you'll be drawn outside to admire the stunning mountain views.

Sit on your bedroom balcony and watch the clouds rise away from the mountain peaks as the sun climbs higher.Breakfast out on the terrace before making a splash as you enter the pool for your first swim of the day. Climb out onto a sunbed and work on your tan as you dry off. Later, when the sun reaches the peak of its heat you can move to the covered patio for your lunch. And, in the afternoon take a stroll into the village to watch the locals weave Dastar on their looms. It's a special cloth made from silk or cotton, an authentic gift to take home for friends and family. As the day draws to a close, return to the villa for dinner. Dine in the courtyard, to the front of the property, on meats roasted on the built-in barbecue. The herb garden will scent the air as you eat, making your mouth water and your senses reel. It's fair to say that Villa Yasemin is a real home from home for anyone wanting an off-the-beaten-track holiday.
