These two-storey stone-built houses wouldn't look out of place in a Swiss ski resort. Think buttermilk-coloured stone, chocolate brown clapboarding and split-level roofing that give them a higgledy-piggledy look. But that's not to say they haven't got a few authentic Turkish touches. Quite the contrary. The owners, Mustafa and Yesim Pinar, built and designed them themselves and were careful to use locally-sourced materials like Cappadocian stone.
Simplistic yet stunning, using a mix of modern and traditional materials, both villas have a soft-cream colour scheme throughout. And they've made making the most of the Cappadocian stonework by leaving it bare in feature alcoves. Dark oak-laminate floor, floor-length muslin curtains and a plasma TV add a touch of modern luxury to the picture, while stone fireplaces give the place an air of authenticity.
As for the layout, the downstairs is open-plan with the modern kitchen, dining area and lounge sharing the main space. There's also a family-sized shower room here. The upstairs, meanwhile, is reached via a sweeping staircase. Here, you'll find three bedrooms and a family bathroom with a whirlpool-style bathtub. The master bedroom is a double with a French balcony and one of the two twin rooms has a balcony big enough to sit out on, perfect for enjoying the late evening sun.
Both villas have freshwater pools surrounded by wooden decking. The pools are roomy by villa standards and they come with underwater lighting so you can take a dip after dark. A covered patio area in front of the house is kitted out with wicker chairs, a glass-topped table and a cushioned bamboo sofa, making it ideal for al fresco eating.
As for the location, you'll find these identical twin villas on the edge of Dalyan centre. So there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants within easy reach. What's more, the protected sands of Iztuzu Beach are a 20-minute drive from the doorstep. Flat and wide, this white-gold beach is ideal for families. So much so, it even gets the sea turtles' seal of approval – the endangered Caretta turtle nests here every year.
