"If you want to witness breathtaking sunsets from the comfort of relaxed harbour Side cafes, serving an endless supply of cool drinks, then Yalikavak is for you."
Yalikvak is packed full of traditional charm yet lies only a 20 minute drive away from the centre of Bodrum town for those after a quieter alternative. As you drive towards Yalikavak you'll catch sight various pretty bays along the way including Tilkicik, Pasa and Yalikavak's own picturesque coast. Rows of windmills are dotted throughout the countryside adding to the appeal. Local life here is centred on the harbour, where you'll find impressive yachts moored up alongside simple fishing boats laden down with their latest catch. Of course there are also plenty of local restaurants specialising in fish and seafood dishes lined up by the harbour Side, as well as a great selection of Turkish dishes to choose from. Other local attractions include an interesting little art gallery showing the work of various local artists, plus there's a weekly market selling fresh produce and fashion. For further retail opportunities there are a few small shops you can stroll around where you're certain to find a couple of good souvenirs of your holiday. When you just want time to relax you can take it easy by stretching out on the beach. You'll find the beach a particularly picturesque place to be when the sun goes down, as this area is known for having really spectacular sunsets. Once the sun has disappeared below the horizon there are a couple bars you can visit but don't expect a thriving nightlife, you'll have to visit Bodrum town for that.

The northern section of the Bodrum Peninsula is well known for sponge fishing, particularly around Yalikavak. Pick up a soft, yellowy sea sponge from one of the waterfront stalls - they're a fraction of the price you'd expect to pay back in the UK!
