With a good location, a pick of swimming pools, and a lively entertainment scene, the Globales Tamaimo Tropical Hotel is spot on for families.
These apartments are in a great spot for getting out and about. They’re just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Puerto de Santiago, and a small beach is even closer by.
Studios and apartments are simple and bright – think tiled floors, pine-wood furniture, and blue-and-white fabrics. They all come with a balcony, and a kitchenette for when it’s time to cook up something to eat.

Good hotel despite the works
Got back 28th July after a weeks family holiday. Hotel very clean, staff friendly and helpful. There were works going on in the pool area to increase space for sun loungers we were not really affected by this. Sun lounge area by smaller pool was very busy but think this was because people did not want to go in other pool area due to work, several times went through and there were empty loungers available. Good choice of food, no problems with drinks from the bar yes it is served in plastic glasses and maximum 4 per person at anyone time. TUI rep (Margaret) very friendly and helpful even organised late check out due to evening flight. Entertainment was good hosts spoke in plenty of languages for all guests. More
Great family holiday
As many reviews on here have been negative about the recent building work the hotel is undergoing, we wanted to ensure that the many positives about the hotel get mentioned. We were worried about going on the holiday after reading the reviews but pleased we didn't cancel. We got back on Saturday 5 Aug. Overall we had a fantastic 2 week holiday. Our children are 10 and 7 and we spent most of the time around the pool that wasn't being renovated. Yes we were crammed in a bit with the sun loungers but that didn't bother us at all and now that the larger pool is reopened it eased the pressure. I had noted that other reviews had mentioned the 20 deep queues for the bar (we were All inclusive) - this was NEVER the case. Think the longest I had to wait was 2-3 mins for any drinks, either during the day or in the evening. It would have been nice if it had opened slightly earlier in the morning though. After breakfast there is no where to get a coffee or drink until it opens at 1100hrs. The pools were well maintained and they were cleaned everyday. The lifeguard didn't do much 'life guarding' but did do their share of pool maintenance throughout the day. I would recommend taking some swimming shoes for the kids as several including ours got cut toes from, we presume, sharp tiles in the pool. The lifeguard on hand to administer plasters but no log or action taken to resolve. I would guess that the pool we were at is the next to be redone. Our room was excellent. Bath and shower. Clean. Air con. Any minor fault we reported got sorted almost immediately. It is well kitted out with kettle, microwave and all kitchen stuff. Even shower gel and liquid hand soap in the bathroom. We had a one bed apartment which meant the kids got the room and we slept on the sofa beds. Not very comfortable but what do you expect from a sofa bed. The room was ALWAYS cleaned and serviced when we needed it to and the towels and sheets exchanged very frequently. The odd cockroach in the bath but they came through the ventilation opening above the bath. No reflection on the cleanliness or state of the room. The staff in general were great. Very helpful and extremely good with the children. This extends from the reception, bars, dining hall and cleaners. Cleaners are out from dawn to dusk. One of the only negatives I have is having to share the hotel with some many rude UK holiday makers. It was great to have an international feel to the hotel. It was the UK contingent that were loud round the pool, couldn't control their badly behaved children, smoked and swore around the pool, as well as stayed up drinking and keeping others awake at 3 in the morning. The other negative is the volume of the entertainment at night. We had a pool/ evening entertainment facing balcony. Some of the entertainment went on until 1 some finished earlier, but it was loud! No need for it to be quite so loud. It did keep us awake. It tried to cater for all nationalities so is not just French as others have suggested on here. It is for ALL guests. In fact the main events like Mammia Mia and Lion King were in English. The bingo got a little tedious when each number has to be read out in 5 languages!!!!!! The food was as I was expected from a good 3 star hotel. Everything you could possibly want for breakfast. Freshly cooked pancakes and fried eggs to full english to continental meats and cheese, fruit, cereals, dried fruits, waffles, breads. The minor complaint would be the quality of the sausages - not sure of the meat content but I suspect not that high. Lunch for AI guests can be taken at any point in the snack bar where you can get burgers, hotdogs, pizza, chips and salads. Or the main restaurant where you get the full selection. Dinner is then a full selection of different dishes and salads. I suppose it was slightly repetitive but catering for the masses is tricky and also there are only so many meats in the world! You could have something different everyday as so many salads and variations of dishes each day. People complained that there was chips available for every meal. And??? Can you imagine the outcry if chips weren't available!? Overall I get the feeling some people arrived already negative and were always going to have an issue with the hotel. You are on holiday and so may as well enjoy it. There will always be a couple of irritating bits - having to share with rude people from the UK and the entertainment being too loud, but enjoy the fact you are on holiday with the family and grab a beer. It pays to be polite and doesn't cost anything - I requested a late check out initially though the Thomson rep. I believe my polite and positive attitude went some way to ensuring we kept the same room at nil cost for our late check out until 1800hrs. Others had to move to a courtesy room the other side of the hotel. The local area although hilly with many slopes and steps it is great to go for a walk or run. Los Gigantes is walking distance. As a family we walked to the marina and back in Los Gigantes. Shops etc are all dotted close to the hotel. Lidl should you need a large supermarket is 5 min walk. The Thomson rep was a joy. Margaret was very helpful and although not always got the answers to hand she made every effort to get the answer. She sorted out a trip to Oasis (a small salt water pool complex with a couple of slides) for us and was always happy. Also helped us get our late check out sorted. In summary, a great holiday. Our children loved it, they made lots of friends and we all had a great time. The staff are extremely helpful and they keep the hotel clean and functioning well. It was sharing with rude fellow countrymen that let it down for me.More
Clean, Quiet and VERY child friendly
Apologies to the hotel for the very late posting of this review. We stayed here last Easter for 2 weeks. It was our first trip to Tenerife and we choose the area due to it's quieter location. The hotel was spotless, the reception and restaurant staff very friendly and helpful and the kids club and animation team were amazing. My little one still talks about Alicia, Chocolate and Mario. They work long hours and were amazing with the children (and very funny!) We split our time between all inclusive and self catering. The choices in the restaurant were plentiful and the food was lovely. Pancakes and nutella every morning are a childs dream! There are many lovely restaurants in the area too so keep in mind if you are there for over a week. The maid came every day other than Sunday. Our apartment was always left spotless and there were plenty clean towels. Yes the rooms are slightly dated and some of the furniture is starting show signs of age but the hotel is addressing this. Our original room was not what we wanted and on the 2nd day when we 'politely' spoke of the issues we were moved. The main pool is noisy with activities during the day therefore quiet at night and the quiet pool is noisy in the evening as that is where the entertainment is held therefore rooms around that area will not be appropriate for an early night if sleeping is a concern for you. Everything you need is a 2 minute walk. Cafes, restaurants, bars beaches and shops. a 10 - 15 min scenic walk along the cliffs takes you to gorgeous Los Gigantes with a beautiful harbour and many more places to shop, eat, drink and for nightlife. We were on a family holiday so our nights were spent at the hotel. There was always bingo, kids shows followed by adult music and entertainment. The pools are large and clean. The snack bar opened early as did the bar and we stayed at the pool til they closed around 6 every day. The snack bar offers the usual fried options of burgers, hot dogs & fries but also grilled chicken, some salad and lovely fresh fruit and bread. There was a relaxation & stretching class every morning by the pool to calming music and there is a masseuse there several times a week. I'm sorry I've forgotten your name but she was amazing! And cheap. We used the kids club most days from 10.30 to 1 and 3 -5. There was a shaded games area near the club and washers and dryers. For the price this hotel and staff offer a great product. Whatever issues we had were taken on board and corrected. On a negative note, and nothing to do with the hotel we were on a Thomas Cook package. To TC... your reps are abysmal...and that is being kind. When we were left with NO transfer to return to the airport they said they could arrange one (at an additional charge) and would leave the information in our room. We never heard from them. The day before departure we approached the Thomson rep. And he kindly put us on their shuttle next day. No charge!! Thomas Cook could take customer service lessons from him. To finish we are booked to return for another 2 weeks next Easter and cannot wait to enjoy the hotel and surrounding area again. We observed some atrocious behaviour during our stay including those who were rude to the staff trying to help, 6am sunbed hoggers (we always got a spot so this is unnecessary) and those who left unbelievable trash behind at the end of the day. But there are people like that everywhere. And in this case they were the minority. As a neat and clean freak who enjoys fresh food I can highly recommend Globales Taimamo Tropical...I hope our return visit is as enjoyable.Next time I will make a note of many more names and mention accordingly. So many of the staff deserve a special mention. Ignore any negative reviews and go and enjoy, especially if you have children. GREAT family holiday.More
Happy we didn't cancel.
We're in the second week of our all inclusive family holiday at the Tamaimo Tropical. 6 adults and 4 children. We were made aware of the building works in advance, which was obviously of grave concern. We were even given the choice of cancelling the holiday by our tour operator with a full refund. However, with small children excited about their summer holiday, this was never going to be an option. Upon arrival, the reception area was clean and welcoming. We were allocated three one bedroom apartments which are in the block not overlooking the building works (we were guaranteed this in advance). The rooms are exactly what we expected. Clean. Basic. Comfortable. We requested a room change as one was at the opposite end of the block and we wanted to be closer together. Sorted the next day without any problem. The food is repetitive and all you would expect from an all inclusive three star. No complaints though. Drinks are served throughout the day (soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits) and sometimes involves queueing for a short time, especially in the evening. The entertainment consists of a music "intro" quiz (in French) from 7pm - 8pm. We were usually getting ready in our rooms at this point and have found our own entertainment by shouting out the correct answers from our balcony. From there, it's bingo (in four languages) and the "main show" which varies each night. We didn't come here expecting West End entertainment so again, exactly what we expected. The building works. Essentially, there is a large fence around one side of the large pool (which has now opened). They appear to be re-surfacing the flooring. There is a smaller pool in a separate block (away from the building works) which is fully operational and free of any "inconvenience ". The knock on effect of the building works comes down to a lesser amount of space around both pools. It ends there! We've never had to "fight for a sun bed", nor has the building work impacted our enjoyment whilst we've been at the large pool. Yes, it's not a perfect situation and the timing for the works could've been better, but it's really not that much of an issue unless you're the sort of guest who will complain for the sake of it. All in all, we are happy here and feel the "building work saga" has been "over egged" and filled people with unnecessary dread and anxiety! It's really not that bad. More
Due to visit 1st September
Hello all. We are due to arrive on 1st September and I'm a little concerned regarding the building work. First off Jet 2 didn't know anything about it when I called in June to ask-then they back tracked and said it would be completed by 1st July. I have seen several completion dates and see that works are still currently ongoing. Normally we would just carry on however our daughter has special needs and sensory issues so the loud noises and disruption can really set her about. Any information would be greatly received. Thanks in advance. More
