With a good location, a pick of swimming pools, and a lively entertainment scene, the Globales Tamaimo Tropical Apartments are spot on for families.
These apartments are in a great spot for getting out and about. They’re just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Puerto de Santiago, and a quick taxi ride from a couple of nearby beaches.
Studios and apartments are simple and bright – think tiled floors, pine-wood furniture, and blue-and-white fabrics. They all come with a balcony, and a kitchenette for when it’s time to cook up something to eat.
Set at the heart of the resort, surrounded by a wide sunbathing terrace, is the main pool. The pool bar snack bar is nearby, so you can enjoy the full day just lazing in the sun. There are two other pools to pick from, one is a little quieter.
There is an Italian speciality buffet restaurant open for dinner from Thursday to Sunday serving a range of traditional local, and Italian pasta and pizza specialities. A reservation is required. Just so you know, if the hotel's occupancy is low, the restaurant may only open three nights a week.
The one-bedroom apartments are simple in style with striped-blue soft furnishings. The kitchenette has a microwave and two electric rings so you can make some light snacks. They sleep up to four with twin beds and a sofa-bed and pull-out bed in the lounge. Cots are also available.
Ignore all the negative reviews! The hotel is clean, spacious and a very good location. The rooms were spotless with clean white towels daily. Yes you get people reserving sunbeds with towels at 6am but that's their choice if they go on holidays to set an alarm. I went down around 10.30 daily and managed to get 5 sunbeds no problem. The pools are very good, and there's plenty of entertainment going on throughout the day for the children and adults. The reps are not pushy and if you don't want to take part that's fine Entertainment was a little poor in the nights so we spent every evening out, but that's what we like doing. We were self catering but the snack bar offered a special each day for just 2.50 euro e.g. grilled burger chips and salad. There a small number of restaurants close to the hotel, we tried them all, and were all very good. Route 66 is a fab bar with live music and a pool table hockey table etc. The sports bar opposite Lidl serves amazing food and provides all the sport from around the world as well as pool tables, table tennis, hockey, snooker squash and tennis. There is a lovely walk along the front into Los Gigantes and takes around ten mins very pretty town with plenty of places to eat, shop and a harbour offering water trips. The hotel can be noisy in the morning but its a family hotel, so what do you expect. If you want silence go to an adult only resort! No noise at night was very quiet in and around the hotel. If you get out and about this is a beautiful resort. The hotel over all was very good and I no complaints. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children.More
Great value for miney
After arriving at about 11pm we were given room 181!!!!! What can I say I was appalled. We have a 5 year and 6 year old and were plonked ontop of the disco. The music in our room was that loud we had to shout at each other to be heard. I went straight to reception and asked for another room to be told - come back in the morning as I can not give you another room! The music went off at 1.00 am (due to the clocks changing). Went to the reception the next day to be told there was no more rooms until the following day! So we had to make do! Impossible trying to get the kids to sleep and we didn't unpack. They were pretty angry for the lack of sleep. Could not settle n lost two nights of our holiday. Again went to the reception the next day and given a key for 261. Told to check it was ok n yes it was perfect so off we moved. At last sleeeeep for the kids! If I didnt have small children then the noise would not have been a problem. Perhaps some thought should go into reserving 181?
Other than this, well the rooms are exactly what you would expect for a 3* and I really can't fault the standard. They are roomy and had enough storage. House keeping was ok but floor in our room was filthy, it looked clean but when you got out the bath/shower we had to put on our shoes or we all ended up with dirty feet! We didn't have any hot water for the entire stay we had here. Everyday we had to boil pots and kettles for the kids bath. Pain in the butt is an understatement!
The hotel pool is really lovely but the kids pool was having some work done on it so that was closed. The kids entertainers - well I can only praise everything they do, full of energy, entertaining and the kids absolutely loved them. They are doing an amazing job and a credit to this hotel. The evening bar is a bit dated and there is always a big que at the bar. We were not all inclusive and every time we ordered the same drinks we were charged a different price? Strange? After a few days we started to ask for receipts and the prices ended up the same. Drinks are not cheap. Not sure if someone is taking there own tip? The evening entertainment is fab?
We didn't use the restaurant but the food looked ok.
All in all we had a fab time though and it is great value for money.
We had a hire car for the whole of our stay and parking it was a bit of a problem but we did I always manage to get a space. Did lots of touring round Tenerife and we really enjoyed exploring. This hotel was a perfect base for us apart from a couple of niggles.
This hotel is in a fairly quite but Los giantos is only a short walk away and its a bit more lively.
I do recommend this hotel and I would stay here again. Thankyou everyone keep up the good work!More

Nice hotel but fun police!
Moans over with first!
As a family with two rooms, we had emailed ahead to ask if possible for the rooms to be close to each other. The receptionist (when we arrived) was very abrupt & rude, and basically told us they were not willing to even try & apparently differents floors & opposite ends of the landing where 'very close' to each other.Luckily we had no more dealings with this lady.
In the swimming pool you are not allowed any inflatables, lilos or balls whatsoever. If caught you get told off by the lifeguards who patrol constantly. No football to be played anywhere, not even in evening, near bar, away from others as you are 'causing a disturbance'.
For 7 out of 10 nights, we had no hot water! Not very nice when you are sticky with suncream, been in the pool and are wanting to go out at night. We went to reception and to be fair they offered us a key to another room, which we used but is alot of messing to go get showered in another block of the hotel and they also offered us to change rooms but the thought of having to re-pack & unpack again put us off.
Finally, and this obviously can happen anywhere, but an iphone 6 was stolen from my bag. Just be vigilant and keep your possessions close.
Apart from all the above, it is a really nice hotel (honest!) There is a good selection of food in the restaurant, though poolside food same everyday. You can get pizza at poolside bar but even if all inclusive, you still need to pay 6 euros for this, which little unfair.
Majority of staff are really nice and there is one lady on reception who was lovely and very helpful throughout our stay, even helping us report our theft to police.
Some nice places to visit nearby and if your fit and healthy there are 130 steps facing the hotel that takes you up towards lidl and a small shopping area.
Evening entertainment every night. Animation team are fab and lovely. There is a mini kids disco, then bingo then a show and all we saw was really good.
Dispite my earlier gripes, it really is a nice hotel and we did enjoy our stay.More

Simply a brilliant holiday!
I went to Tenerife last year with my friends and have only just realised I forgot to write this review ! (oops) However the hotel was amazing so I felt I had to write this!
Myself and my two girl friends went to this hotel last year in June having chose it completely at random, we decided on the hotel from the brilliant holiday reviews on trip advisor and they are very true!
We had a apartment room which meant a small kitchen, a living room with tv, a balcony (although we were on the ground floor) and a bedroom. The couch pulled out to be a double bed and my friend said it was comfortable enough and she never lost sleep over it. We had everything we needed in the hotel room, the only complaint we would have is the closeness to the childrens centre and how the noise would sometimes bother us, however we were up and out so quick so it wouldnt be a problem!
The food was mixed up daily so there was always something new, the all inclusive was especially brilliant as bars were open till around midnight in the hotel and they would give you plastic cups to take your drinks back to your room; I especially enjoyed the ridiculous amounts of all inclusive ice cream I ate!
The location is definitely quiet and we didnt realise until we went on a day trip to the other side of the island that we were on the less touristy bit. However trips across the island didnt take too long on coach and so we still got to enjoy all the island had to offer! Especially as down the road from us (about 20 minutes) there was a black sanded beach, warning black sand is ridiculously hot!! We had plenty of shops in the proximity and a lovely bar down the road called "Route 66" which did live music and cocktails so we were in there most nights.
Putting it simply, the hotel was clean, friendly and very welcoming, we had an amazing time and I would recommend it to anyone!More

Good short break
Stayed for 4 nights over the Easter hols. We wanted a short break in the sun to recharge our batteries. On arrival, our room wasn't ready, so we had a drink at the pool bar while we waited. Our 2 bed apartment was spotless, roomy and overlooked the pool.
We booked All Inclusive as it was a short break, but there were plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Food in the main dining room was good, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with plenty of choice to suit us all. We tried the Italian , but we weren't that impressed. The snack bar food was repetitive but OK.
There was a lack of room around the pool, and although there were plenty of sunloungers, there wasn't much space to put them if you didn't get up fairly early to get a spot. It became very crowded, with not enough parasols. The Animation team did a great job, they were all very friendly and our sons enjoyed the Archery and Rifle Shooting each day. Evening entertainment wasn't our thing. Mini-disco followed by bingo, then a show. The room where is was didn't seen big enough, and there was a queue for drinks, after the 1st night, we went out and enjoyed Route 66 where there was a live band.
As most of the sunbeds didn't get the sun until nearer lunchtime, each morning after breakfast, we went for a walk along the seafront.
In summary, a good hotel for a short break with good weather. Very friendly staff, especially Sandra at the pool bar, who served Cava with a smile, and Jose, the pool attendant, who whilst trying to learn English, was happy to teach a bit of Spanish in return. For a 3 star hotel, it was good value for money.More
