Globales Tamaimo Tropical Apartments

With a good location, a pick of swimming pools, and a lively entertainment scene, the Globales Tamaimo Tropical Apartments are spot on for families.

These apartments are in a great spot for getting out and about. They’re just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Puerto de Santiago, and a quick taxi ride from a couple of nearby beaches.

Studios and apartments are simple and bright – think tiled floors, pine-wood furniture, and blue-and-white fabrics. They all come with a balcony, and a kitchenette for when it’s time to cook up something to eat.

Miserable staff, except reception

I was with my family ( 2 children) in Tamaimo Tropical for a week. Room was ok, cleanning every day except sundays, changing towels and sheets. Was great. Restaurant: absolutely terrible. there is a sign in front of the door Restaurant "not take food to outside" so well, nobody pays any attention, staff included. I just took one banana and one apple and a women call Blanca, started to bark like a dog because I took food. I tried to explain her that all people are doing the same and nobody control, but she doesn't understand and speak english, just shout and shout. I came to reception to explain what happened and I saw the Manager ( an elderly blond women with glasses) and I started to explain the situation. So, what was my surprise, She also doesn't understand and speak English !!!! Oh my God !!!!!! How it is posible a Manager from a hotel where the 90% are english people doesn`t speak English ??? Somebody can explain me please???? She was like a statue in the museum. Unbelievable. She started to babble like a baby and just said "reception". I was very angry and I speak with a man in reception and he was very polite and speak a perfect english ( you can teach to your Manager hahahaha). Definitely, staff very rude, don't speak english except reception and they are the one can help to you. I don't understand how can a Hotel can go to the right direction with this management. Great time!

We recently returned from a week here all inclusive and had a really good time, weather wasn't great but of course that can't be helped! Arrival was fine on 16/03 at around 5.30pm but the woman and man on reception were a little miserable. Room was perfect, spotless clean, built in TV and hair dryer and fridge, very spacious and a lovely little personal balcony. Apart from the fact we came as a couple and got two single beds :/ but we compromised. I think the food was fine, plenty of choice and the seven nights we stayed there was a different meal for lunch and dinner which was unexpected. Plenty of fresh fruit at all times. Only let down was the desserts I didn't have dessert on any of the days as it all seemed like cheap angel delight stuff. It's great that you can eat at all times of the day. Also soft drinks and alcohol were available all day. Facilities are good, entertainment provided in the day with competitions etc. pool area was lovely, you do have to get up early to reserve a sunbed otherwise you will find only the shady areas available but I'm an early bird anyway so that was fine. In the evenings there is a "disco" room, mainly for kids for the first hour or so then bingo! Then a different entertainment show every night which were really good, included magic shows, parrot shows, Freddie mercury tribute (poor), Brazilian dancers etc. then we spent a couple of nights in the local area, one main bar called Route 66 was a laugh but an average age of 65 probably! But we made our own fun! I would recommend the flipper uno tour along Los gigantos it was thoroughly enjoyable and worth every penny. The harbour is where you will find lots of water activities, lots of shops, restaurants and bars. We spent a few days there. Last of all have to say, the day staff including Manuel and the three girls, who danced everyday at the pool were such a friendly bunch, always smiling, always enthusiastic, lots of fun! They make the place! Don't let them go! Shannon & AlexMore

Relaxed break

Just returned from a lovely relaxing holiday. We booked last minute & after reading the reviews I was anxious but everything was lovely. Hotel staff were friendly & helpful. Room was basic but enormous & very clean. The all inclusive good was good at breakfast & dinner but lunchtime was a bit naff, burger or hotdog everyday. Saying that because we'd booked all inclusive we were saving on everything else & didn't mind treating ourselves to lunch out a couple of times. Pool was freezing!!! Very refreshing though :-). The best thing for us though was the weather which was late 20's & calm every day, and the stunning location. Blissfully quiet with just enough bars & restaurants & a short stroll into the equally stunning Los Gigantes. If anyone is looking for a get what you pay for chill out week, this is a good choice.More

Ultimate, Objective, Point-by-point Review

We went to Globales Tamaimo Tropical for a week in March 2015 as an unexpected last minute holiday. The hotel was selected by the travel shop and was sold as a budget holiday with an all inclusive cost of £400 each (with flights, transfers, extra luggage, meals and pre booked seats). We recognise you do get what you pay for and we were not expecting a lot. We do think that people who take the self catering apartment option get a much better experience. Our experience of the all inclusive was not good. We would not choose this hotel, their all inclusive option or the area again. • Rooms We were all inclusive and stayed in room 353. The room was basic with twin beds that were uncomfortable. We had asked for a double bed but were told by reception that no rooms had double beds. The furniture was basic; there was a fridge but no cups, kettle etc. There was a charge for using the safe and a deposit required for the TV remote control. We had a good view over the large pool and the room was in a quiet part at night. We were at the end of an open corridor by a circular metal staircase which was handy to get to other areas. We liked the room location. It was clean. The toilet was small and without shelves for toiletries but the shower was very good. • Hotel This was a basic 3 star hotel. It was very clean and there was ongoing minor decorating work happening to keep the building nice. The corridors were actually open which gave a good feel to the hotel. There was no public comfortable sitting area to relax. The reception was large but had no drink facilities. There was no indoor pool, no gym and the Jacuzzi (at an extra charge) was out of order. There was 30 minutes free wifi in the reception per day, so often the area was full of people on their devices. The wifi connection was terrible, very slow, and often took most of the 30 minutes to open pages or email. For an extra charge of 6 euro per day you could use wifi throughout the hotel. If it was anything like the free access we wouldn’t bother and connecting through your 3G and paying network charges is probably much cheaper than 6 euro per day. The hotel liked to charge extra for everything possible from weighing your suit case to a decent coffee or orange juice at breakfast. There was no indoor area to sit and have coffee except at breakfast. We were given a sheet of paper on arrival saying no sun beds to be reserved with towels. This was totally ignored by staff and holiday makers. The adult rooftop sunbathing area was small. The lift we used on arrival was small, slow and had awkward double doors. We never tried the lifts again. • Food and drinks There were two buffet restaurants, the main one and a small Italian one that needed to be booked in advance and was closed on Sunday and Monday. There is also an outdoor pool grill bar serving very poor quality food. All areas close promptly or slightly early. In the restaurants there was a great selection but it was mainly cheap processed poor quality food that lacked taste. The fish was good. As long as you are selective about what you choose to eat and are not too fussy, there is enough to eat and some nice items. No hot drinks allowed in the restaurants at lunch or dinner, you have to go outside to drink those. When we complained we were told by the reception manager that ‘it was the law’(we think he meant it was their rule) and we should speak to our rep. We never actually saw the rep for the last 2 days so we did not talk to him. The wine was terrible and the red wine was served chilled as it came out of a cooling machine. All the drinks tasted diluted. The Italian restaurant had a nicer atmosphere and a slightly different food selection. We preferred this but again poor quality food on the whole and terrible drinks. Nicer wine can be provided at meals at an extra charge. • Location Very very hilly area with either steep hills or lots of steps. Two small rocky black sand beaches a bit of a walk away but really we would say no beaches nearby. This is not the place for a beach holiday. There is a great public outdoor swimming pool ‘El Laguillo’ at Los Gigantes near the harbour. This is free and is a great area to visit. • Entertainment The evening entertainment was awful! It was so bad it was actually offensive to sit through. It was held in the only indoor place you could sit in the evening and have a drink (no hot drinks served), had basic cafe style chairs and tables and there were large mirrored columns supporting the ceiling that (although necessary) obstructed the view. This was a bad choice of room for the only bar and was not a comfortable or a nice space to be in. Outside the hotel were other bars and hotel entertainment that were better even if you had to pay for your drinks. Bar staff were quick to try and pour you branded alcoholic drinks at a charge rather than locally produced drinks. After midnight all drinks had to be paid for by all guests. • Staff They were generally friendly but not flexible. They liked to impose the rules and charge for extras. Tip boxes were around the hotel in abundance.More
