It’s close to the beach and centre of town, but with its extensive gardens, the Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas feels nicely tucked away.
You’ve got mountains in one direction and the ocean in the other, so the views at this place are pretty impressive. A rocky beach and the Lago Martiánez pool complex are just over the road, while the old town is five minutes’ walk away.
Palm trees and tropical blooms sprawl throughout the hotel’s grounds, and into the glasshouse-like lobby. Bedrooms come with pine-wood floors and fixtures, and furnishings in complementary shades of navy.

Another enjoyable stay
Our 5th time at the Las Vegas and it didn't disappoint. We had been given a penthouse room on 13th floor which involved access up a flight of stairs from floor 12 and the room layout involved several steps. As my husband has some mobility problems we returned to reception and the lovely Mathilda relocated us to a room on the 8th floor with sea view...perfect. We knew we'd have a great view of the carnival parade. Our room was comfortable, cleaned every day and towels replaced as necessary. The restaurant was extremely busy at times and there were some queues for tables. The waitresses work very hard clearing and resetting tables always with a smile unlike some of the waiters. The breakfast is excellent and we were pleased to have porridge and plenty of fruit as well all the usual breakfast foods. There was plenty of choice for evening meal with soups, pasta, salad and roast meats. Desserts were plentiful and a good selection of cheese. We hope to return to the Las Vegas and the only thing that would deter us is the long journey from the airport should be 1hr but on Thomson transport took 2.5 hrs plus an hour wait for passengers from other flights. Exhausting after a long day travelling. More
A week in Las Vegas
A very good week in Puerta de la Cruise, helped by the exceptional weather, excellent value for money and one of the best locations on the Island. The food was plentiful and there was a good selection, wine prices were really good value and was of a decent standard. If you tried hard you could always find something that you did not like, mashed potatoes were like purée, some times the veg was overlooked, there was no Yorkshire puddings to go with the roast beef but there were always plenty of choices to find things you liked better. Internet in the room was excellent, air con free, happy hour was really good value. A number of upgrades had happened since last year, new outside front of the house furniture, new sun loungers , the pool had been revamped, new pool bar furniture at the outside bar. Balcony furniture needs upgrading now because the raffle type chairs are all unraveling now. Considering we paid very little for the holiday, it was an unbeatable week.More
WINTER SUN BREAK
We have just returned from the Catalonia La Vegas, booked last minute deal to get some sunshine. 1 and half hour taxi ride to the hotel. Book in smooth, but no porters to help with luggage. Had a great room on the 8th floor with views over the pool and the mountains which were quite spectacular. The dining room, very chaotic and busy people chasing around trying to get to the buffet area, Food excellent with plenty of choices, lots of fresh fruit and good selection of pastries etc. The hotel was in a central position situated right on the promenade with the lido on the opposite side of the road everything spotlessly clean, lots of shops and restaurants to pick from. The hotel foyer is very spacious with lots of foliage and green areas, but not much of a seating area, inside to sit during the day, most seats were near the tv area. There was a spacious entertainment room, could do with more comfortable seats in the foyer. The grounds outside were very well kept, lots of shrubs and plants. If you are looking for a lively hotel this is not the place, as it caters more for the older person, several guest staying with limited mobility. On the whole the staff were friendly with the exception of one male receptionist who just could not be bothered and was very rude. Although we enjoyed our time in the hotel would not go back, and defo not 4 star needs a few teaks before it is 4 star.More
Great hotel, pity about the Thomson's rep
We were well impressed with the hotel, particularly the staff, Matilde was fab. We were made feel as if we were at home, she even rearranged our meals for us on our last day. The food was fine, some thing for every one. The plates were always hot except for salads, much better than the expensive hotels on the island. Every where was very clean. Free tea and biscuits at 3pm in the entertainment room. It was about 33c for first few days, the air con in the room worked well. Superb location on sea front, views of mountain or the sea from the rooms. Not far to McDonalds! They pay careful attention to detail, list of TV channels and phone numbers, food in the restaurant carefully labelled. The only thing we complained about was the Thomson's rep called Lee, he looked scruffy and when asked about the money saving Titsa Bono travel card his attitude changed and said it was not very good and expired after six months. Thomson's reps NEVER tell you about the Bono card which can save about 1/3 on bus fares. They prefer to keep quiet about them and push their expensive trips which can be had cheaper in town. We double checked when the Bono Card expired and loads of people on Tripadvisor, Thomson's own 24 hour helpline and of course the Titsa bus companies head office and their kiosk in town. They all said 12 months! When Lee started his presentation he was bragging about how he was an experienced rep and knew all there was to know. If you need any advice ask at reception, they are superb.More
Best location on the seafront in the centre will be returning next year. Clean and comfortable with good food and great staff, could not ask for more. Activities arranged, and evening program of act and music for dancing.More
