Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas

It’s close to the beach and centre of town, but with its extensive gardens, the Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas feels nicely tucked away.

You’ve got mountains in one direction and the ocean in the other, so the views at this place are pretty impressive. A rocky beach and the Lago Martiánez pool complex are just over the road, while the old town is five minutes’ walk away.

Palm trees and tropical blooms sprawl throughout the hotel’s grounds, and into the glasshouse-like lobby. Bedrooms come with pine-wood floors and fixtures, and furnishings in complementary shades of navy.

We stayed at the Las Vegas for a week all inclusive in July.....where do I start We are not usually that fussy with hotels/holidays but this has been our worst. The hotel is dated, definitely not a 4 star, its a 3 star. Not up to our usual standard. The room was OK, room was cleaned every day and towels changed every day but bed wasnt changed once. Most communal areas were tired and old fashioned. Bowling green was run down, park was tiny, mini golf wasnt maintained. We only met one friendly member of staff, the young girl on reception. Everyone else was unwelcoming, borderline rude. Staff in restaurant couldn't speak very good english, was difficult just to order a drink. We didnt like the surrounding area, the street outside was very busy, too commercialised/tacky for us. The looky looky men were a big put off. The closest beach if you can call it that was rubbish, no sunbeds, a child couldn't go into the sea, you cant call it a beach. The next beach is 25-30 mins walk away, that didnt look much better. The weather was TERRIBLE the whole week we were there. It was cloudy every day, I should have taken jeans instead of summer clothes. The rep told me the weather was like this often and it was better in the South. So we hired a car and drove down to the south most days (3 hour round trip) just to find some sun and a decent beach. There wasn't a great choice of food, both me and my son are vegetarian, the first night he had chips and I had lettuce, cucumber and beetroot. The rest of the week I managed to find something to eat but didn't have a great choice and the quality wasn't brilliant. Bar staff were rude and as there was only one person serving you had to wait for drinks. No cocktails were included in the AI and the included spirits were horrible. Evening entertainment didn't start until 10.15, so after your meal theres nothing to do, we just went back to the room. There's no fridge in the room, so its impossible to take water to the room for the night/morning. Overall it was a waste of money for us, we didn't like the area, there was nothing to do, the weather was rubbish, there wasn't a nice beach nearby, we went out every day, didn't drink so the AI was a total waste. I wouldnt return to this hotel and I wouldn't return to the North of Tenerife. If I was to return to Tenerife I would chose the South where the weather is better and the beaches are nicer. If youre looking for a holiday, Id highly recomend Gran Canaria, we went in April, the weather was fantastic and the staff were 100 times friendlier.More

Great hotel

Great hotel with a good location. Lots of shops and things to do. Hotel is big and clean with friendly staff! Good selection of food at breakfast with juice and hot drinks free of charge. Wide range of food at dinner some not to my taste. However there was always fresh salad and pizza and chips. Excellent life guard which kept an eye of the children in the pool as well as keeping the pool area clean and tidy. Only issue was the room walls were thin so if you had noisy neighbours it could be disturbing. More

Our last day here today. Would not recommend! Food is awful, chips chips and more chips daily not good for fussy eaters. Even myself who will try new things struggled to eat anything other than chips. Service slow at the bar with only one person serving and having to sign everytime you order a drink. Some staff very rude and will serve locals first before British even if waiting first. Locality good to local bars but very quiet for a young couple like ourselves- south will be much better. First two days were very cloudy but then brightened up a lot No beach but a small amount of black sand a 2 minute walk away next to sea Lucky lucky men and women were pushy and off putting. Bar closed at 11pm when all inclusive and cocktails and many drinks not included in all inclusive price. Local English bar the bee hive fantastic. Will not visit Puerto de la cruz again. More

Day 6/7 Catalonia Las Vegas is in need of a face lift, extra staff & a menu review. Food: although seemed to have ample choices, quality wasn't up to much, cheap tea, coffee & made it worse. Bar: most times only one person serving, which made waiting up to 20 mins - that's if others didn't push in first ! Wine was rancid, we ended up going out a few times, just because we craved a decent wine. Entertainment: kids club entertainers were cheerful, evening shows weren't too bad, all inclusive bar shuts at 11, so no chance of a night cap or a bottle of water without paying. Plenty of places to shop & eat out if you want to, Cafe Paris was very nice. A very busy, bustling town, conveniently situated, however, we were woken a few times in the early hours (i.e 4am) by noisy revellers retuning from a night out. All in all, would visit Puerto de la Cruz again, but wouldn't stay at the hotel & certainly wouldn't recommend it !! Lorro Parque is definitely worth a visit & the little free street train stops right outside the hotel. I shall be glad to get home tomorrow for a proper cup of tea and a decent glass of wine.More

I will never try again

I'm here with my family for a short holiday but I'm very disappointed! Starting with service and finishing with cleaning in bathroom. Old furniture and no respect for quest! Total inclusive is a joke. Today it was my daughter birthday and I ask from the day when I book this from Thomson to have just a bottle of champagne for children. Not FREE!!!! Today they said that is impossible and they didn't let to open own bottle. I'm with a 7 year's children. I'm already sorry because I chose this hotel!!!! More
