Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas

It’s close to the beach and centre of town, but with its extensive gardens, the Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas feels nicely tucked away.

You’ve got mountains in one direction and the ocean in the other, so the views at this place are pretty impressive. A rocky beach and the Lago Martiánez pool complex are just over the road, while the old town is five minutes’ walk away.

Palm trees and tropical blooms sprawl throughout the hotel’s grounds, and into the glasshouse-like lobby. Bedrooms come with pine-wood floors and fixtures, and furnishings in complementary shades of navy.

Amazing stay!

The Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas is definitely worth a stay, the entertainment there was definitely one of the best parts of my stay, Alba, Cheryl and Maria are all so lovely! They all made me and my family feel welcome and part of the hotel, the activities were very fun and are such a good idea for helping to make friends and meet new people from different places. Overall my stay at the hotel was very impressive, the food was good, the room was spacious and the beds were nice and comfortable. The staff at the reception were also very friendly and ready to help whenever it was needed. More

anna h,

Dont listen to negative people!

I am well travelled especially in the canaries. This is a very nice hotel. Predominantly Spanish. Always got a sun bed with huge parasols and cushions for the beds. Food excellent. If you order a bottle of wine and cant drink it all they will put your room number on it and put it in their fridge for next night. Convenient location. Lots of upmarket bars and cafes to go to of a night if you dont like hotel enrertainment. Book a room with a balcony and fridge so you can chill drinks. Would highly recommend. Dont listen to the moaners. They belong in the south!More

Definately NOT 4* Average hotel

I have visited many hotels throughout the Canaries and various other countries. We visited (all inclusive) with a teenager, my 10 year old and my sister. On arrival a very nice lady called Matilda checked us in, excellent communication skills, friendly and informative. Our room had a view of the pool, ample in size and clean. Good Points about the hotel - the food is almost 4* in my opinion and other than Matilda (reception), Alba (activities) and friendly helpful pool man. Great location. Free good wifi. These are the only good parts. Food - breakfast was good, wide varied selection. breads, cheeses, pastries, typical fried selection, fresh fruit, freshly made pancakes Lunch, variable, however always something. Addition of made baguettes would benefit, or the necessary produce to make your own as rarely cold meat available at lunch. Dinner, wide variety and themed every night, which is repeated. Always two fresh types of meat available to be cooked by chef if requested, ie, veal and stoke where common. Ready dishes such as pizza, pasta and salad every night, plus things like stew, orange chicken stroganoff and paella. I would suggest though that if having something cooked you check its cooked right through as the chef is often in a rush and more than once we were given chicken/pork which was pink in the middle! Desert - variety of ice cream, cakes, jelly, mousse and 1 hot option, ie- stewed pears. Poor Points - cleaning - sheets and balcony changes once in ten days?! there was a large cockroach in our bathroom late at night which we caught and delivered to the front desk, who were very apologetic. We requested for a full clean of the room in the morning. On returning the hotel management had kindly left champagne and two platters of fruit, however unfortunately the floors throughout the room were not brushed or mopped (yes, we checked). On two days pool bar did not open for at least an hour after it was meant to. I did email the manager in relation to this and received a response which stated it was not an hour and would be remedied. It was actually more than an hour and seems due to staff shortage which was evident in the service received throughout our stay in all bar and restaurant area's which was the poorest we have ever received abroad. On all inclusive option it was stated in description free ice cream at pool bar...really? I asked, my daughter asked...until day 7 we were finally told they had some. 'BRAND' ice creams charged between 1.80-3 euro, meant to be 50% off to all inclusive guests but depended on who served you. Pool bar cocktails 'all inclusive' slushy watery versions...not nice. However if you go to main bar they will make 'real' not all inclusive cocktails for 50% the price, so instead of 6euro you pay 3. These were much better but not very fair for all inclusive guests. General Hotel - hotel tired in many areas, particularly pool area, chipped paint, cracked tiles, cracked sculpture, heavily stained pool drinks tables. Evening Entertainment - Awful! Daytime 'Games' - fairly good, thanks to Alba, who my daughter thought was fab! Late Checkout - we departed on a Thursday night, requested on the Tuesday but told no, hotel 100% full, requested a room for an hour to change in...courtesy room, told no. Asked again on the Wednesday (different person) and it was fine to keep our room till 6pm as requested. Please be aware there is a 30euro charge but we were happy to pay this. In our overall opinion the hotel has a great location however due to general maintenance and service we do not consider this 4*. We would not visit again as we feel its not value for money in comparison to other 4* we have stayed in. Its a shame really as the hotel has the potential.More

FORSYTH6,

Not child friendly

I am currently staying here with my 2 children. There is nothing here for them to do the park is closed off, there is no baby pool or play areas and no entertainment so please rethink of you have children. Mostly every one is 50-70s and by the looks of it hate kids. Our balcony door didn't lock so I had to go all the way back downstairs at 10.30pm with 2 under 6s to tell them then they sent someone up in minutes to fix a new part to the door. I cried on the first night as I felt really out of place here with everyone starting at me at dinner time. We went down for dinner late as we didn't check in till 9pm and I asked the waiter for a high chair as we sat down he said yes then disappeared and never got one. Then no one explained that I had to order drinks and pay for them as I thought with half board they were included and there would be a tap somewhere with orange/apple juice or water. I didn't realise till we had finished our main meals and the Waiter came over and asked what we would like to drink. A bottle of water was €1.60! When we came down for breakfast it was much less stressful as it was help your self to drinks but very confusing. We stayed by the pool in the morning but went out for lunch and dinner as I didn't want to go back to be honest. The room was nice as clean when we arrived back but thank fully I'm checking out tomorrow. For the price I paid I Definetly won't be returning More
