It’s close to the beach and centre of town, but with its extensive gardens, the Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas feels nicely tucked away.
You’ve got mountains in one direction and the ocean in the other, so the views at this place are pretty impressive. A rocky beach and the Lago Martiánez pool complex are just over the road, while the old town is five minutes’ walk away.
Palm trees and tropical blooms sprawl throughout the hotel’s grounds, and into the glasshouse-like lobby. Bedrooms come with pine-wood floors and fixtures, and furnishings in complementary shades of navy.

A well located centrally situated hotel with polite and obliging staff and serving a wide variety of good quality food. Affordable drinks were available to accompany the food. The hotel had the added bonus of a decent sized heated pool, Perfect for the cooler winter months.More
Nice views of the sea from hotel Balcony. Rooms clean and bed very comfortable. Overall staff friendly except for one particularly rude individual called Edwardo who worked in the restaurant. The food was of very poor quality every evening. Mashed potatoes and pureed carrots so watery you could poor them. Poor quality orange day-glow desert bought in cheap. Slices of melon and pineapple hard and unripe. Pork kebab still raw in middle. Overall this is a nice hotel on the sea front. It is clean and well-kept but the food lets it down big time. 0/10 for the food.More

There is no doubt about it the Catalonia Las Vegas has an enviable location. It is set in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz close to the beach, close to the delightful municipal bathing area and close to the shops and cafes which make up the old town. You won't need a taxi to get anywhere and you will easily find your way back to the hotel after a tipsy night out. The hotel itself is perfectly acceptable as a standard offering in the package holiday industry. The rooms are adequate and clean. Our room was two single beds pushed together, but fine to sleep on. The maids fetched extra pillows quickly when these were requested. A TV was provided which is not unusual, but the good plus point was you could access BBC 1 and BBC 2 plus ITV which, if you decide to have a night in, is a good thing. Our room did not have a balcony which after many package holidays with a balcony room threw me a little. You can change rooms for a fee - to upgrade to a Balcony with Sea View Room was an additional 15 Euros per night. I would be perfectly happy with the room, but I did notice the bathroom in Room 324 did smell a little. I think this was because they have re-tiled the floor with soft tiles over the original hard tiles and water seeps between the joins when pressure is applied and stagnates a little and does not have the sweetest of aromas. I have noticed other reviews have been a little critical of the food. Well, it is not the widest selection of options, and some of the offerings can be a little bland, but on the other hand I was very pleased they had a ""steak night"" twice in the week I was there which was lovely. Further, the morning coffee was from a machine, but in my opinion it was excellent ground coffee that really woke me up. And to really make my breakfast go with a bang the bacon, served daily, was well cooked unlike every other Spanish hotel I have ever stayed in. Was I pleased. You bet I was ! In one sense breakfast is the most important meal of the day and with good coffee and bacon I was a happy man. While we are on the subject of food and drink if you want a decent cup of tea while you are away try the Bee Hive Sports Bar - 2 Euros for a pot of tea for two - a lovely cuppa. You will find it easily enough in the second street back from the sea front - big place with lots of British sport shown on numerous screens. Clean and not expensive. Lastly, a word on Puerto de la Cruz. The downside is it takes over an hour to get there from Tenerife South Airport. The place does not get much sun in the early morning, possibly because of the mountains behind the town. The sun shone every afternoon we were there, the first week in February and it was warm enough for me to swim in the sea from the black sandy beach at the top of the town. The town is genuinely quaint and has some original shops unlike the blander concrete shopping centre offerings of Play a de las Americas. I enjoyed my holiday and hope to return.More
Best view ever!
We booked this holiday as a birthday present and exceed our expectations. We arrived in the afternoon and how we entered in the hotel we saw a busy reception with a long cue at the front desk, thought we will wait for ages but no, the reception team took care of everyone straight away as they were 3 people on duty. We had a very nice room on the 12th floor with the best view ever, the hotel is positioned in the center of the town close to all the attractions, probably the best positioned hotel from Puerto de la Cruz. We booked half board, they have a buffet in the restaurant, with plenty and different choices every day, also a very busy restaurant. Everyday its ending with entertainment in the bar area, magic shows, acrobatic teams, singing artists, bingo, disco music, different things every night. Maybe this is a four star hotel but the service and the staff deserve 5 stars, Matilde and the reception team took care of all our requests promptly during the entire week, we noticed Maite and the blond lady from the restaurant were very helpful and we liked Pablo's cocktails in the bar. Thank you all for a pleasant stay!More
Good value for money. Some reservations
My husband and I went for 2 weeks by air from Doncaster with Thomson. The price was very reasonable but we did have some reservations The hotel is built on the top of a Macdonald's restaurant but there was no noise or litter. The bar in reception had no character and resembled a coffee franchise on a train station. In other words, little character. The rooms were lovely and recently refurbished. We paid extra for a balcony with sea view which was very nice but did not get the winter sun. Balconied rooms on the back of the hotel had nice garden and mountain views and also caught the sun. The restaurant was in dire need of refurbishment with scruffy 1970s chairs. The blinds had been removed leaving hooks dangling from the rails above the windows. The food was adequate with a good choice but we have had better quality in 4* spanish hotels We paid only £550 each for 2 weeks half board, but would have been willing to pay a bit more for more up market surroundings.More
