We normally stay in an apartment when visiting Playa de las Americas as the restaurant choices are so great but this time we decided to treat ourselves as it was my hubbys 50th birthday. We chose the Bitacora after looking at a few hotels as the terrace rooms looked amazing. I booked online direct with the hotel and we received free taxi transfers to and from the hotel which was a nice touch. On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly staff and checked in very quickly. We were allocated room 544, a corner room with a pool view and a most terrific terrace. The room itself was large and very clean as was the bathroom, only a shower but I prefer that. The 2 beds are made up together and were large and comfortable. There is a safe which was free to use in that room, a kettle with tea bags and milk and a fridge which cost 1 euro per day to rent if you wish. There were plenty of English channels on the TV, not that we spent much time indoors. The terrace had a table and four chairs and two loungers and a parasol, all of which were modern and comfortable. There was also an outdoor shower for when you needed to cool off. All the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant, especially the dining hall staff. We stayed on a half board basis which is enough for us. The food was fantastic from English bacon, sausage and fried eggs on a morning to roast beef, Yorkshire pudds and gravy on an evening. The food was varied and hot. Another nice touch was a champagne breakfast that was delivered to your room on 1 day of your choice. We chose my husbands birthday which made it very special. Although we didn't stay in the hotel at night as we like to walk about a bit, the entertainment looked good and kept the audience's attention. We don't use the pool area usually, preferring to walk during the day but having the terrace at our disposal made us relax there more than we would. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as we couldn't fault a thing, in fact I would like to say thank you to the thoughtful someone on behalf of the staff, who left a card to my husband in the room on his birthday with a small box of chocs.....little touches like that are a sign of class and attention to detail that I appreciate.More
Stayed first week in Feb on a half board basis. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, lots of choice. Newly refurbished spacious room was great! Large bathroom and walk in shower, heated mirror and decent hairdryer - very impressed! Cleaned to an excellent standard daily. Ate at pool bar most lunchtimes, food there was also very good. Pool area was great with an outside seating area with lovely settees/chairs etc. Location is excellent, minutes walk from safari centre/golden mile area and beach. Everywhere spotlessly clean and staff all very helpful. New lift being installed during our stay, did hear occasional drilling, however, staff doing everything possible to keep noise to a minimal. This did not ruin our holiday in any way. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel when in Tenerife again. More
We have stayed various times here and at different times of the year. We have always been curious what it would be like at Christmas. It was fantastic. We had a lovely week: staff were friendly and efficient, rooms were clean and comfortable and the Christmas Day meal surpassed our expectations. The staff worked so hard to ensure that everyone enjoyed the day. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel at this time. Another amazing holiday. Already booked for October. More
Excellent holiday in quality hotel
This was our 28th visit to the Bitacora and experienced a very efficient check in on arrival by professional and friendly staff, welcomed back as long lost friends! The room was on the eighth floor of very high quality (new 40 inch 'smart' TV installed during our stay) and had been refurbished recently, room had own air con, cleaned every day, fresh towels etc We stayed in a pool view room with adjacent (very large) terrace, room 820 highly recommended The hotel is an excellent position for whatever you are on holiday for, its next to a bus stop for siam park and the other resorts. Its right in the centre of las americas so loads of shops and restaurants plus a 5 min walk to the beach but it is in a nice quiet part of the resort. The food was what you would expect from a 4* hotel, there was always an excellent choice of high quality and well prepared foods every night. The restaurant staff were very professional and very friendly at all times, nothing was too much effort. Over all the hotel was really good value for money and have already booked our next stay at this excellent hotel.More
Not having visited the Canaries before my wife and I were looking forward to a new experience. The Bitacora was everything we were led to believe. The bedroom was very spacious with an equally roomy bathroom. The food was quite astonishing, from the vast selection to the excellent quality. All of the staff from the reception, bar personnel, dining room etc.,were a credit to the hotel. On the down side both my wife and I felt that the entertainment was not quite up to the standard of its sister hotel"The Vulcano" sometimes like ametuer night,!This apart we would not hesitate to return for another great vacation.More
