The Spring Hotel Bitacora is a favourite with guests thanks to its great position and fantastic pool scene.

Guests return to the Spring Hotel Bitacora year after year, which goes to show how popular the place is. Its main selling point is its location. The hotel is just a ten-minute walk from a sandy beach, and only a bit further from the shops, restaurants and bars in the centre of Playa De Las Americas.

The pool area is another impressive feature. It consists of two lagoon-like swimming pools, one of which comes with a waterslide and a large shallow area for children. Each pool is edged by loungers and parasols, with lawns and palm trees adding a bit of greenery. Rounding everything off is a shaded bar serving drinks and lunches like homemade paella.

You can also eat in the hotel’s buffet restaurant. Expect big buffet spreads featuring eggs, bacon and sausages at breakfast, and soups, roasts and Spanish staples at other times.

Finally, children are well catered for here. There’s a kids’ club, ballpark and mini discos in the evenings.

Standard room sleeps up to 3 adults and 1 child with twin beds, a single sofa-bed, a camp or sofa-bed that converts into 2 separate single beds, air-conditioning, satellite TV, hairdryer, phone and a balcony or terrace. Cots on request but may reduce the room occupancy. Daily maid service with towel change on alternate days and linen change 3 times a week. Single rooms are at a supplement.

Your guide to Playa De Las Americas, Tenerife

"Near the southwestern tip of Tenerife is one of the island’s main coastal attractions, the resort of Playa de las Americas. Full of modern restaurants, bars and hotels, it is lively and fun, its large white sandy beach attracting people from all over the island."

Playa de las Americas, 17.5km south of Reina Sofia airport, is a modern playground with an international atmosphere - perfect for families as well as young couples and groups of friends. The beaches are popular, watersports are brilliant and there’s a waterpark - and the buses to it are free! There is an 18 hole golf course with views towards the resort centre and the sea, an ideal location made even more attractive for a round of golf as it is protected from the wind by a nearby mountain range. Next door is the more sophisticated resort of Los Cristianos, while just around the coastline is the beautiful beach of El Médano, famed for its windsurfing.
