Upgrade was very poor
We booked in the Vulcano on the 6 of jan .We paid for a upgrade but the room they gave us was a standard room the glass top on the bedroom unit was broken causing a nasty cut in my hand the fridge that we paid for was very smelly .After we complained we where given another room that was the very same whithout the broken top and smelly fridge.Dont get me wrong this is a nice hotel Alexis one of the manager was very help full but at the end of the day all we wanted is what we paid for. We have stayed in this hotel for a number of times and never had a problem apart from this time but you dont wont to be checking in and arguing with the staff over the room type that you have stayed in sevral times before come on Vulcano get it wright you are letting your selves downMore

Just got back from spending a week at the Vulcano Hotel Playa de Las Americas. This is the first visit to this establishment. The hotel is big and is quite impressive. Facilities are very good and the food excellent with plenty of choices at both breakfast and dinner. We stayed in room 330 which is a superior type overlooking the pool. The room was spacious and spotless with the exception of the air vents of the air conditioning which were caked in dust. There was adequate wardrobe space and the safe in the room very good. The fridge could use and upgrade as the door was difficult to close or open. The bathroom was spotless but the hairdryer again could do with an upgrade along with the shower. There was plenty of activities during the day and the evening entertainment was all in all good. A lot of guests are returning ones and I can understand why. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Should we go back to this area I would certainly consider this hotel as a first choice.More

This is a nice hotel. Whilst our room didn't have much of a view it was comfortable, and quiet (once the music in the restaurant across the way stopped at 11). The cleaner did an excellent job including mopping the floor every day. The staff were helpful, the entertainment was good, the pool was warm & the aqua aerobics was a laugh. Buffet food never seems quite the same as restaurant food, but it was very good and the restaurant staff were very efficient. All in all no complaints and we had a good time. The only downside was that the hotel slightly reminded me of my late mother's care home. I've rarely seen so many walking sticks, wheel chairs, mobility scooters, not to mention the sock/sandal combo, in one place. Maybe I'm oversensitive as I've just hit 60!More
The Best of the Best in Las Americas
With so many reviews of the Vulcano available it may seem difficult at times to get a real feel for this hotel. Just to put this review in context my wife and I have been taking holidays at the Vulcano since the year 2000, typically visiting on average twice a year ( fitted in between other holidays !! ). So what makes us keep coming back. Well you all know the saying "there's no place like home" its just like that each time we visit, our latest visit in late December 2014. Over time we have seen many changes probably the most significant about 5~6 years ago when Alexia Oliva Fanlo arrived as the new Director. As always the new broom introduced changes which initially produced some negative comments in reviews, however 5~6 years on, much of the change that has happened we believe has produced positive results. A major factor for us in returning to this hotel is in the service provided by staff from reception to room service, dining to entertainment to maintenance without exception its a great team. In the dining area Daniel's team excel, food choice is wide enough to satisfy the most choosy of palettes and the improvements in the show cooking area are really positive. Rooms are serviced daily, if you report a problem - noisy air-con, patio door lock faulty - its normally dealt with in hours no issues. How many hotels have you visited where 100% of the Sun beds and pool areas are hosed clean on a daily basis? How many Hotels these days allow you to swap dinner for lunch if you have booked outside entertainment at night or just want to sample cuisine elsewhere? It's true the guest age range is typically 50+, 60+ & 70+ with a really warm welcome reserved for disabled guests, although I've noticed some reviews see this as a negative ( sad people ). The entertainment ( animation ) program has enough for all from exercise to games to professional shows daily with a lot of guest involvement. One final point is over the 15 years of visiting there have been 2 occasions when a need for medical attention arose, well contact with the Vulcano reception staff arranged immediate medical support solved these emergencies - just the comfort of home.More

Christmas & New year stay"
This hotel is ideal for people with walking difficulties, there is scooters for hire for blue badge Stayed at the Volcano for two weeks in a room with pool view, we was given a room on the third floor, we asked to be moved has the room was along way from the lifts, and moved to the fourth floor to room 470, this was our mistake, the room only had the sun for aprox half an hour a day. The hotel was ideal for people with walking difficulties, there are scooters for hire in reception for blue badge holders. and rooms had adaptions, tables in restaurant was reserved for wheel chair users. The reception areas was very clean and had a lovely decorated Christmas tree, the bedrooms very dusty, mirrors not clean once in the two weeks we was there. I advise to take own toiletries. Over Christmas and new year the food was very good it included langoustines, cavier, and smoked salmon along with a very well cooked turkey, and a bottle of champagne, on every table along side a bottle of water. Staff throughout the hotel are very pleasant, new years eve was full to capacity over 1000 people, the restaurant staff where exceptional. The bar entertainment we was not to our liking, piano playing until 10pm ( couples were dancing) and the entertaining after was hit and miss. Day time activities, darts, bingo, mini golf, archery, shuffle board, and others, for the more active there is aquagym , and pool biking. Example of a few hotel prices, a bottle of wine from 12 euro, j b whisky 3, 70, tonic 2,40, a bottle of water in restaurant 2,45. Safe 10 euro you get this back when key is handed in at reception.More
