The Spring Hotel Vulcano has bagged itself a great spot on Tenerife’s south coast. For starters, the beach is less than five minutes' walk away. A great selection of the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas are just a five minute walk from the doorstep. That said, it’s anything but noisy here - this modern hotel is tucked well away from the action.
The hotel itself is pretty impressive. It's spacious, smart and the friendly atmosphere is evident from the moment you check in. As for the bedrooms, they’re modern, light and airy – from the sink-into armchairs to the terracotta and cream colour scheme. It’s real home-from-home stuff.
In the lobby, they’ve brought the outdoors indoors. A massive atrium fills the marble-floored space with light. Plants, trees and fountains give a garden feel. And the wicker furniture wouldn’t look out of place in a conservatory. It’s like being in a big botanical garden.
But it’s the pool area that deserves special mention at this hotel. There are two rectangular swimming pools vying for your attention here. They’re sunk into a sizeable sun terrace and come complete with an island of palm trees and a dinky waterfall. Plus there’s a poolside bar where you can order a fruity cocktail to cool off.

Another great stay from a younger couple
Having stayed at this hotel twice previously we knew what to expect. We are a young couple in our 30s and we enjoy this hotel for the peace and quiet . If you want entertainment that doesn't involve waltzing then there are bars galore on your doorstep and this is what we did every evening visiting the La Paz strip! The room we got was allocated on the 7th floor overlooking the walk way and bars and shops. I did email prior to our arrival to ask for a high floor pool view room but did not complain . The room was immaculately clean and the beds were comfortable. Our balcony got the sun early morning so couldn't sit out late in the afternoon like I enjoy to do. The tv had some UK channels but not always the best reception. The food in the restaurant on an evening we felt had declined and was not very hot. There was a wide selection of meat but not much choice of vegetables . Breakfast was more than adequate and had everything you could imagine . The pools were wonderful, especially the heated ones and were more than welcome after sitting in the blazing sun! We appreciated that towels were removed if sunbeds not occupied and we always found a sunbed after breakfast around 10am and this was at Easter. There are lots of entertainment during the day if you so wish, archery, water Pilates , pool biking and aqua aerobics . We went to the bar for a drink before eating but didn't stay for the evening entertainment , we prefer to go out . Wifi in the hotel is ok, however not very strong and would be good to have a better signal. This has been better on previous stays. We definitely would return to this hotel . We met many guests from previous years, this must speak for it self and we found it so friendly, other guests stopping to chat. Staff in general were friendly but the lady on the restaurant collecting bills could smile more! As a young couple we appreciated the peace and quiet. We will most definitely be back ! This is a very mellow and well run hotel, it attracts a more mature person and is disabled friendly. The rooms are comfortable but I would have liked more storage drawers and the bathroom needs to have the bidet removed ( in this age of showers a bidet is not needed. We had plenty of hot water at all times of the day but toiletries were sparse. The beds are so very comfortable, and the balcony is a decent size. The reception and lounge areas are very comfortable and pleasant to sit in and read. The dining room is well run and foods are replenished quickly and tables are also cleared quickly. There is a vast range of foods to suit and meet every taste and diets, and the foods are served at the correct temperature. there is a decent wine list and again the wines are served at the correct temperature. We didn't use the pools but I was told that one of the pools is heated and very comfortable to swim in. This hotel is in a quiet position and near the bus stops, we particularly liked the location and it was easy to walk into Los Christianos and also up to Adje. The shopping centre behind the hotel has a variety of top shops and is a very good after dinner stroll of an evening. The best supermarket for all bits and pieces including water is the Spanish Supermarket turn left when leaving the Vulcanohotel. This was our first visit and we shall visit again.More
A restful Holiday
We have just returned from a two week stay at the Vulcano. This was our second visit the first being this time last year. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay and could not fault the hotel or staff. We travelled with Thomsons and the private transfer to/from the airport was brilliant. We previously stayed in an adapted room on the ground floor as my wife has reduced mobility. This time as her mobility had improved we decided not to go for an adapted room however, we were not expecting to be given room 724 on the top floor when we checked in! We quickly decided this was not appropriate as my wife could not walk down seven flights of stairs in the event of a fire so went to reception and asked to be moved at first we were told nothing could be done but with more persistence and help from Moses on reception we were promised a first floor room the following day. We were allocated room 162 which over looks the pool and got sun till about 7pm. All hotel purchases can be charged to your room which saves carrying cash. Prices for food and drink are comparable with other hotel prices but not as cheap as the local shops. If you want bargains Happy Hour is from 6 to 7 pm everyday. All staff are friendly and helpful and all speak English. We decided to hire the fridge in our room but at 1 euro a day we decided to go for a package which included 10 drinks for 20 euros. The pool area is clean and tidy and yes the no reserving of sunbeds rule is enforced between 8.00am and 9.30 am. and appears to work. Not everyone likes the sunbeds in rigid lines but it maximizes the space. Only on one day did the hotel appear to be struggling for sunbeds. Whilst we were there one pool was heated and regularly was between 29 and 31 degrees. The other was about 25 degrees. Most guests when we arrived were older and English. During the fortnight the age profile and nationality of guests did change. Many couples in their 40's and 50's. As the hotel has a number of ground floor adapted rooms it attracts disabled and less mobile visitors. The beaches from Las Americas to Los Cristianos and Fanabe are accessible for the disabled. This is a couples hotel, yes there were children but they were often very young and did not disturb the peace and quiet of the hotel. Day time entertainment is provided but in keeping with the hotel - I enjoyed the aqua aerobics and the Pool Biking! Evening entertainment consists of a number of tribute acts and some solo singers, quality varies but all are acceptable. The dinning room can get busy at times and finding a table can sometimes be challenge. The waiting staff work tirelessly clearing away and preparing tables. The buffets are always well stocked with items being refreshed continuously. The reason people go back to the Vulcano is that it does what it does well. If you go from the hotel to the pool one thing that strikes you is how quiet things are. This is an ideal hotel for those wanting a rest and peace and quiet with similar like minded individuals. If you want something wilder or more active then there are plenty of opportunities elsewhere in Playa De Las Americas. We done to all at the Vulcano we hope to be back again in the future!More
We stayed at the hotel for a week in March and were given a room on the ground floor with a terrace with table chairs and brolly and two sunbeds. The hotel entrance was impressive with lots of plants, trees and secluded seating areas. The food was exceptional with plenty of choice especially desserts which we have not experienced in other hotels. The staff in general were friendly, efficient and helpful. Pool area and bar were spotlessly clean. The location of the hotel was convenient for beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Fabulous hotel, can't wait to go back.More
