Guests return to the Spring Hotel Bitacora year after year, which goes to show how popular the place is. Its main selling point is its location. The hotel is just a ten-minute walk from a sandy beach, and only a bit further from the shops, restaurants and bars in the centre of Playa de las Americas.
The pool area is another impressive feature. It consists of two lagoon-like swimming pools, one of which comes with a waterslide and a large shallow area for children. Each pool is edged by loungers and parasols, with lawns and palm trees adding a bit of greenery. Rounding everything off is a shaded bar serving drinks and lunches like homemade paella.
You can also eat in the hotel’s buffet restaurant. Expect big buffet spreads featuring eggs, bacon and sausages at breakfast, and soups, roasts and Spanish staples at other times.
Finally, children are well catered for here. There’s a kids’ club, ballpark and mini discos in the evenings.

just back from a week all inclusive, what can i say...brilliant hotel, food is amazing, always hot and plenty of choice, always carved meat every night inc beef, pork, lamb and gammon, fish dishes are very good, plenty of choice for breakfast too. pool area is lovely with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. the rooms are excellent, tip...upgrade for a small charge for a pool view its worth it. entertainment is very good with shows most nights and the entertainment team are fabulous. hotel is central with lots of shops and bars close by. there is even english tv so no need to miss the soaps, highly recommended and will be going back!More
Another excellent holiday.
We enjoyed another excellent holiday at this wonderful hotel. We requested a high floor room and that is what we got. It had been refurbished to a good standard. Having British television programmes are a bonus at around 5 pm before going out. The staff throughout the hotel were all polite and friendly from reception to cleaners, restaurant staff to bar staff. The hotel is in an excellent area for walking, something we did most mornings so never got into a bun fight for sunbeds. In the afternoon we never had any trouble finding a place to sit. We did not stay in the hotel during the evenings as we enjoy going to the strip down near the Vulcano. We did have lunch one day in the hotel which meant we could go out in the evening to sample the local restaurants. The food in the hotel was excellent with a varied choice and hot. A good touch was the 11 to midnight happy hour which we used on several occasions. We really can't fault this hotel and are going back on the 4th March. Thank you to all at the Bitacora and see you then....13 weeks today.More

The hotel in the brochure looked and sounded great, however, on arrival the hotel was full of wrinklies. Almost everyone was in their late 70's+ . THERE WAS NO ATMOSPHERE AROUND THE POOL AND YOU WERE FROWNED UPON IF YOU SPOKE OR SLASHED WATER IN THE POOL. There was even a blood pressure machine in the lounge along with a mobility scooter charging point and a rows of scooters lined up in the lounge. Nowhere in the brochure did it say the hotel was a nursing home. The food was awful, it was mostly slop, probably so the old folk could suck it through their straws. Poor labeling of food so you did not know what the slop was. The restaurant staff were ignorant and did not speak when clearing tables again NO ATMOSPHERE. The hotel however, was clean and the rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The bar prices were 3 times that of the local bars so we never drank in the hotel and the happy hour did not work in the restaurant and again prices were expensive. THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE ADVERTISED AS AN OVER 70's HOTEL.More

Location - excellent, near enough to everything but far enough away so as not noisy. Rooms - lovely and clean. I think we may have been in a refurbished room that over looked the children's play area. Staff - lovely, friendly, helpful. Food - excellent. I believe everyone would be able to find something they like at each meal time (we were all inclusive). The lamb joint was amazing, wish we were there for 2 weeks so we could have it again! Only downside was men having to wear long trousers for dinner, but you can soon change again after. Pool - children's pool was freezing so we used the main pool. Had read that no children were allowed in that pool but that may only apply in peak season. People do reserve beds with towels early in the morning. That's ok in late November, I imagine quite annoying if it was July! Children's play area - really impressed with this although you could not get into the ball pit area unless a member of the animation team was there which wasn't all day. As we had our toddler with us didn't get to see any of the evening entertainment as always back in the room (with a bottle of wine on our all inclusive from the bar) by 8.30 -9. There was a lot of banging/hammering in the day that we could hear from our room, our little one still slept for his nap though and I guess not many people would be in their rooms in the day. Overall we would highly recommend the hotel and if we were to go to this area again The Bitacora would be our first choice. More

We had a lovely winter stay; we stayed on an all inclusive basis and enjoyed the Smirnoff vodka and other drinks and believed it to be good value for money. The hotel had a mix of nationality but was very pleasant. The food was nice and of good quality and choice and without complaint but please don't expect 5star. The hotel guest tends to be of an age of late 40s up and are repeat customers which says a lot so don't expect it to be a ravers paradise! Best tip in my opinion was to register for a "spring card" before you arrive as a perk for the loyalty scheme is better wifi (we could use wifi anywhere in the hotel) which was the only gripe if you couldn't log onto the free lobby wifi which was really bad.
