Guests return to the Spring Hotel Bitacora year after year, which goes to show how popular the place is. Its main selling point is its location. The hotel is just a ten-minute walk from a sandy beach, and only a bit further from the shops, restaurants and bars in the centre of Playa de las Americas.
The pool area is another impressive feature. It consists of two lagoon-like swimming pools, one of which comes with a waterslide and a large shallow area for children. Each pool is edged by loungers and parasols, with lawns and palm trees adding a bit of greenery. Rounding everything off is a shaded bar serving drinks and lunches like homemade paella.
You can also eat in the hotel’s buffet restaurant. Expect big buffet spreads featuring eggs, bacon and sausages at breakfast, and soups, roasts and Spanish staples at other times.
Finally, children are well catered for here. There’s a kids’ club, ballpark and mini discos in the evenings.

We stopped in this Hotel with my Family from 7th April to the 17th April 2014. Excellent Food, Excellent location, Excellent Pool and Childrens area. We stopped half board for 10 nights, the room was excellent (We had a new upgraded room facing the childrens area on the 4th Floor). The food was excellent quality with great choice. The Bar was 3 euro a pint (reduced by 15% if you had a spring card - note worth applying prior to arrival). Bars nearby between 2 and 3.5 euro. Recommend considering booking direct with the Hotel as if you booked you qualify for a Spring card and get free Wifi in the room. Also free taxi transfer if the holiday is over 7 days). The best price we got for 10 nights was £1400 half board in the easter hols (Hotel only) but when we booked direct we got it for 1400 euro (a 15% saving). You only pay on arrival and can cancel free of charge 3 day prior to arrival. i weighted up all inclusive vs half baord and for us it was about neutral but had the Children been older and we drank more (which i don't think we would) it would have been slightly better. (Our children are 5 and 7). I would recommend this hotel and i will be returning.More

Fantastic Hotel but............
We have stayed at the Hotel Bitacora about 3 years ago before all inclusive was an option, we really enjoyed it, so we decided we would go again. We arrived on April 1st for 7 days stay with two of our friends, who also had stayed there before on numerous occasions. They had stayed before taking up the all inclusive option, which they said was great apart from ordering drinks, but thought it should be sorted out by now. When we arrived the check in was smooth, rooms on the 5th floor were perfect. A bottle of sparkling wine was a nice touch. We arrived to late for lunch, but found some snacks at the pool side bar to keep us going. Then it went wrong. Bar rule 1 the sit down rule. I went to the bar to get 2 bottles off water, where a bar man acknowledged that I was there then ignored me for at least 5 minutes while he cut up fruit for cocktails. Then another bar man asked me to sit down at a table to order, I stood there and said I would like 2 bottles of water, he told me to sit down, again I said I wanted 2 bottles of water, again he insisted I sit down, reluctantly I did this, then he said, what would you like to order, amazed I said 2 bottles of water, thank you sir he replied. I sat there at my table like a schoolboy until my 2 bottles of water arrived. Bar rule 2. Plastic glass rule I don't know about you but when we are away we like to have a drink in our room while we get ready for dinner. I knocked on the door of our friends room to see if they wanted a drink fetching from the bar, they did, so I continued down to the bar. Remembering the sit down rule. I sat down like a good boy until the bar man came over for my order. I ordered the 4 drinks for us all but that was not aloud as you can only order 3 drinks on your swipe card. So I took the drinks up for my friends and returned to order ours. The same bar man took my order and asked if I was taking them to my room. The bar man then brought our drinks in plastic glasses. I said that I didn't want our drinks in plastic glasses and I assured him that I would bring them back, he replied to all of my questions, not possible. Rule 3. No nuts on Saturdays. While we sat down together having a sun downer they would bring out some nuts to accompany our drinks, but when we asked the bar man for some nuts another day he said, not today, which was a Saturday, you know the drill, you can't have nuts on Saturdays. Rule 4. The ice rule. On numerous occasions I would order a whiskey with no ice, you guessed it, everyone came with ice. On our last night it happened again, but this time I was having none of it. I told the bar man to take it back and bring me one without ice. He did, he waited for the ice to melt and brought me the same one back. I do think all these ridiculous petty rules are because the bar men don't get as many tips any more because of the all inclusive change. It is a shame as everything else about the hotel is fantastic especially the food and waiting staff. We would go back to the Bitacora again because it is a great hotel in a good location, but would not bother with the all inclusive option, the bar staff are not happy bunnies. More
A great holiday for all ages
We have recently returned from a weeks family holiday at the Bitacora . The hotel is in an excellent central location but very quiet. We had rooms with pool views which I would recommend. The rooms were clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. We were all inclusive and felt there was a good variation in the food throughout the week. The mini club was excellent with a dedicated team who worked hard to keep the children entertained. I liked how they quickly got to know the children and always addresed them by name any time they met them in the hotel. There was a great playground and soft play areas which the children really enjoyed. The staff were all very helpful and we had no problems with sun beds or service in any of the bars. The only negatives I could find were the lifts were slow and it is a shame that the children's pool is not heated as this meant limited use as it was far too cold. We would recommend this hotel and would definitely consider returning.More
wow. very miserable staff, cockroach literally running around the dining area( staff said don't worry they wont hurt you), lift kept breaking down and don't be fooled by 'all inclusive' you can only have certain things at certain times, didn't see one member of staff with a smile. I really don't understand where these positive reviews are coming from! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! unwelcoming dingy hotel.More
