The Hotel Bitacora is a family favourite thanks to its A-star location and pool scene. Plus, it’s only minutes away from the shops, bars and restaurants of Playa de las Americas.
The Hotel Bitacora’s main selling point is its location – the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach and only a bit further from central Playa de las Americas.
Families have it made at this hotel. A new adventure playground opened its doors in 2013, and there are two pools and a buffet restaurant.

just back from the Bitacora. We thought the food was very good, even had a themed Chinese Evening one night. Our only problem was they stopped the children's buffet while we were there. Also we had to invent mash ups for the 8 month baby. No facilities for warming babies food once the restaurant was closed. Extra micro wave needed please. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly. The animation team were excellent with the kids.More
Outstanding Service and Food
My wife and I have just completed two weeks, staying on a half board basis. We have been here several times over the past few years and so have obtained their 'Spring Card' loyalty card. This allowed us to have free WiFi in our bedroom and throughout the site, as well as a discount on our final bill and also on drinks in the sister Volcano hotel across the road. One way of juding a hotel is to see how it handles guest difficulties. Our initial room allocation was beside the lift and this proved problematical for my wife who is a light sleeper. On reporting this to reception we were asked to wait until a quieter room became available a couple of days later. The new room proved excellent and had a wonderful view of the mountains which we enjoyed very much. All this was achieved with ease and genuine staff courtesy. Sadly my wife caught a head cold which developed in to a quite nasty condition which has lasted almost five days now. It comes and goes and she is unable to attend the dining room on occasions while feeling ill. Here again the staff have been concerned and have been happy to assist with allowing me to take a tray to the room. We have both greatly appreciated their help and support.More
nice but dim!
we stayed here for a week and enjoyed it BUT were annoyed at the kids pool being absolutely freezing cold then to be told no kids inflatable toys to be taken into the warmer pool?! our little one who is 2 was also not allowed to go down the slide on our knee! maybe taking health n safety a bit far?! we were on holiday and wanted to have fun! Also to be told my hubby couldnt wear smart shorts to dinner was just a joke as some women had hot pants on that went right up there backsides grrr anyway food in hotel wasnt bad just a bit repetetive so we ate out on a few occasions (we went all inc) the bar have got a clever way of not letting you order too many drinks as you have to be seated to order so cannot go up to the bar! i thoroughly enjoyed the frozen strawberry daquiri though this is a must have! also had a massage in the hotel but wouldnt recommend, not for £55 euros anyway! most staff are friendly just a few on reception that have an attitude problem! i watched the maid clean the room and they spray this nice fresh spray to make you think its all been nicely disinfected etc wrong just quick touch up with the mop! oh yes and dont let me forget the dreadded toilets are a real problem they absolutely stink to high heavens and need desperately sorting! the greatest thing about this hotel is the kids play park it is huge and also has a soft play area which is all shaded! kids entertainment at night is brilliant & mini disco fab- my little boy loved it and they also put a kids film on the big screen after the disco! Disappointed with the entertainment....
This our 3rd stay at the hotel.I didn't enjoy it as much as I have previously. This is down to a few things...the entertainment was a bit samey. Not as varied as it had been. There was a woman singer who was imitating (badly) Tina Turner. She was awful! Most nights there were singers where as previous years there were more watchable acts. Hardly anyone gets up to dance anyway, apart from the New Years Eve party! Which was really good!! Also the magic act was really good!!.... The cocktails are rubbish!! The only one slighty bearable is the mojito. They have no idea what a cosmopolitan is..... The heated (?) swimming pool was definitely not as heated as it had been.My man complained about this a few times but didn't seem to make any difference... Now for some positives... Food is really good! Always a good choice. The kids section is a good idea but I think they try too hard & maybe should keep that simple with things that most kids like, even if it's repetitive... The restaurant staff are all lovely! The hotel is in a good location & has a lot going for it but I agree with people about the free wifi & possibly offer a free safe. Also someone on a review mentioned the bottles of Moët that were on the table at the Gala dinner. It is supposed to be a bottle per couple & we sat in a party of 6 adults & they only gave us 2.We did question it & they gave us another one no problem....More

We recently spent a week in this Hotel and enjoyed it very much.Good location very comfortable bedroom, and very good food. One thing that we missed was an area in the lounge where you could have a coffee or cold drink in the morning or early afternoon. The only place was at the far end of the pool which was often queued with the all inclusive guests and served in paper cups. When you are leaving and waiting for transport to the airport you would appreciate this facility.More
