Nice hotel but...........

Just returned today after spending 2 weeks at the Parque Santiago IV. Great hotel generally with pleasant pool areas, friendly staff and a very laid back atmosphere in a great location. Our room (1207) was close to the reception with a very large terrace with 2 sun loungers and table and chairs overlooking the pool bar area and with sea views. Very nice. The room is spacious with 2 single beds divided from the main room by a partition. The main room had a pull out sofa bed, 2 chairs, coffee table, TV and another table. The small kitchen came with a hob, oven, fridge and plenty of cooking utensils and cups/glasses etc. A small but very functional bathroom off the kitchen area next to the front door. Decorations dated but very Spanish (dark wooden wardrobes/tables etc) but acceptable considering the cost of our 2 week stay. Another point is that the rooms have no AC and do get very hot at night. You can hire AC from reception but is expensive and apparently noisey and to have to pay for the room safe is a little mean in my opinion. I was a little concerned before going as previous guests had posted that the security were a bit on the harsh side but we did not encounter any problems at all, nor did we witness any problems with overzealous security. In fact they were all very professional if a little distant. The front desk staff were friendly enough but there was a young woman who was very very friendly and courteous and would always help with any questions with a smile. The pool areas are great with 2 salt water pools, one heated, you could just float around in both without treading water as the salt content keeps you buoyant. Both pools are shallow though at a maximum depth of 1.5 meters only, so no diving head first. The only complaint I would make is the sun loungers. Even though there are plenty to go around they are very frustrating to mount the supplied parasols in as the mounting holes are all broken in the loungers, making it a balancing act to get them to stand up correctly. This is a problem that affected near enough all of the loungers and the Parque Santiago group really need to invest in new sun loungers with working fixtures and new parasols. The pool bar is staffed by friendly waiters but the food quality was in my opinion poor. The PS IV is more suited to older couples or families with young children as there is not any entertainment laid on in the complex. No music around the pool area and no animation team etc. Fine for my wife and I but could get a little boring for the teens/twenties etc. All in all we had a lovely 2 weeks there but we like a change each year so would not return because of this and not because we didn't enjoy our stay at the Parque Santiago IV.More

Lovely Complex, pity about no air con

Stayed in a ground floor room beside reception. Check in was very easy, staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Room dated (but most are in Tenerife). Room was a good size for two with a huge balcony, however, no umbrella/shade which made the room and balcony unbearable during the afternoon with full sun blazing in. I don't see many comments about the lack of air conditioning. I had just assumed air con was standard here. I was shocked to see no air con. Couldn't stick the heat (1st wk of Sept) so had to hire an air con unit at €60 for the week. It certainly cooled the room down thankfully however was extremely noisy. We didn't encounter any bugs at all. Cleaning staff were fantastic. Enjoyed the food at the pool bar once. The umbrellas at the pool are dreadful. Most sunbed holders for these umbrellas are broken and as others have said, it is a balancing act to try and get your umbrella to stay up. With no air con and dodgy umbrellas at the pool, I am sorry to say I won't be returning. I would say, however, having stayed in many hotels in Tenerife, that the staff were exceptionally friendly here.More

Perfect location

just arrived home after a week long stay at the apartments. Apartments themselves are slightly dated with lumpy hard beds but does the job nicely, has all the neccessities you would need. Both swimming pools are salt water which can be a pain if it gets in your eyes but showers with fresh water are at the side to wash this away. 1 pool is heated which me and my friends loved. sunbeds available any time of the time, no early morning wake ups to place towels down. the small restaurant by the pool area has lovely food and the staff are really friendly. the hotel is in a great location to both restaurants and a 5 minute cab journey to Veronicas Strip. Would 100% returnMore

Fantastic Family Holiday at Parque Santiago IV

Booked a holiday to Tenerife for end of August 2014 for 10 nights with family group of 7. We had hoped to be in Parque Santiago 3 but on arrival were allocated 3 studios in Parque Santiago IV. Initially were weren't very happy about the room allocation and the fact that we hadn't got our chosen hotel...HOWEVER, the staff did everything they could to accommodate us all close together, and I have to say that we were absolutely delighted with our stay at Parque Santiago IV. Fantastic complex, kept very clean, excellent staff (especially the guys at the pool bar, Jose and Sam) Rooms were cleaned daily, and were very good size, very safe atmosphere all round and complex was close to all restaurants etc, at the better end of Las Americas. We will definitely be coming back and will ask specifically for Parque Santiago IV as our first choice. Fantastic holiday and weather :-)More
