Luabay Costa Los Gigantes

This place comes with a big lagoon pool and an à la carte restaurant. It’s also got some spectacular views.

This hilltop hotel will be renamed Be Live Costa Los Gigantes from November 2015. It has views of the epic Los Gigantes cliffs, as well as across the ocean to neighbouring La Gomera. It’s in a quiet spot, but it’s still less than 10 minutes’ walk to the beach.

The hotel has a trio of pools, including a big lagoon number. Elsewhere, there’s a buffet restaurant with panoramic sea views, and another à la carte option. Then there are live shows in the music hall.

Last minute holiday

First the positives, very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Buffet offered loads of different food, fresh and well prepared and in the main could eat a very healthy and tasty breakfast, dinner and tea. Liked the pool BBQ food great for lunch. Local drinks so hit and miss but in general ok. Room had lounge and bedroom with balcony overlooking sea and lagumera Which was fab. The negatives, beds awful, hard and badly strung And when inquired about softer mattress they offered A couple more folded blankets under the bottom sheet. The a la carte a big no, it was awful, the Italian was bad, thought couldn't go wrong with the grill we thought, yes they could, even worse, was a shame as it was supposed to be the added extra and it was very sub the buffet food, in fact it was poor. Lastly, the Thompson Reps, The first contact with them, the one was rude and dismissive, the younger one did try to be more helpful. The second encounter, we asked about a hire car, promises to leave details under our door but luckily given our first encounter, we sought info with the hotel car hire, within half an hour we were on the road in a fiesta which did us proud for two days.we never got details under our door from Thompson, poor show. All in all a lovely week, good fun, great weather, shame about bed and a la carte, oh and awful reps.More

Lovely post Christmas break!

We stayed at the Luabay los Gigantes (now known as Be Live Family Costa los Gigantes) from 7th Jan to 18th Jan'15. Very nice hotel, very clean and staff very pleasant. Food was really good, good quality and plenty of choice. Pool areas very good with no shortage of sunbeds and an excellent pool bar near the quieter pool that served lovely barbecued food from 1:00pm - 3:30pm every day. Night entertainment was also excellent with professional acts in the theatre or live music for dancing in the Havana bar. Only criticism was main restaurant which served breakfast and dinner. This lacked any ambience, due to layout of tables, lighting and no tablecloths or napkins etc. Gave the impression of a rather large canteen. Overall though, excellent holiday and would revisit.More

Good hotel

Booked through Thomson as a last minute break 9th to 20th January. Allocated a spacious suite in block J with lovely views out to La Gomera. Room cleaned every day by pleasant staff, clean towels whenever you require them. The complex is set out as a holiday village with 3 seperate lounge areas, 2 providing evening entertainment Plenty of sunbeds and also a lovely terrace with sea views in front of the bar area . There is a choice of pools, with one being quiet near the snack bar Mini bar in room is re-stocked every other day. Free wi-fi in reception. Restaurant staff are very efficient and friendly. Food was varied, but sometimes not always warm. Snack bar food was fine and often had barbecue food. Hotel is located at the top of a hill but is only a 15 minute stroll to Los Gigantes. There is a gate located in the hotel grounds giving easy access to Playa de l'Arena. Overall a really enjoyable holiday, do bear in mind that the hotel has recently changed to a Be Live Family resort and is now definitely geared towards family holidays with plenty of activities for children of all ages. Even though the hotel is on a hill, it has paved walkways all around the grounds and some rooms were accessed directly with no steps, so could be suitable for wheelchairs.More

Great Hotel, shame about the food

We stayed here for a week in early January! Gave us a room with two floors,It had two bathrooms, one had a bath with shower over and other just had a shower. There is Coffee/Tea making in room but take your own. You can buy milk from shop at hotel, mini fridge topped up every couple of days with 2 cans of Pepsi & 2 cans of beer, bottle of water. Towels changed everyday, bed changed after couple of days but never changed pillowcases ???? Food was ok plenty of choice, Pork, Chicken and Fish everyday !!! Roast Beef one night, one night couldn't find anything to eat so went without and I'm not a fussy eater. Food not always hot most days had to use Microwave. It is a beautiful Hotel and we enjoyed our stay, but the food let it down. We have had better !!!!!More

Lynne196,

Mice on bed

We arrived late at night very tired so just went to bed.During the night we heard some noises in the room didn't thing to much of it. Next morinng I was tidying the bed when two mice shot of the bed and ran under it I got such a fright I burst into tears and that was the holiday ruined. It took reception four hours to get us into another room but it was to late every noise in the night I was up checking it out. When I went for something to eat all I could think was if there is mice in the rooms what's the kitchen like. It's the only time I've came back from an all inclusive holiday and instead of gaining weight I had lost some. I will never go back to this hotel and probably not Tenerife ever again.More
