Don't read bad reviews, Lovely Food& Staff
Me and my boyfriend had both read bad reviews after already booking the hotel online. To our relief the hotel was lovely, clean and the staff were very friendly. The food was lovely for each meal of the day and the pool side food too, however the breakfasts become very repetitive as there is not much variety. Unlike the other meals which had a large variety of beautiful different kinds of food. The pool was crowded during peak times which we avoided as there was often no sun beds to use. But when we did swim the pool was lovely and clean with comfortable sun beds. The pool is not big enough for the amount of people that are accommodated at the hotel. A small section of the pool should be shaded because the sun in so high in the day time and the risk of burning is high. There is a second pool by the sea slightly away from the hotel that would be a lovely area to use if it wasn't littered everywhere, had useable sun beds and some form of shade. The amount of litter and debris was disgusting. This pool area needs a clean up and safety posts put in place around the area. The jacuzzis were very small so it would be uncomfortable to sit more than two in at a time. However they are nice warm jacuzzis that are very enjoyable if you get a chance to get in them. They also are very crowded. The room was cleaned, had new towels and our bedding made everyday by the maids who were also lovely. However the sheets were not changed but this did not bother me. Overall I would recommend this hotel to family's or couples who would like cheap value for money holidays and don't mind that it is rough around the edges. This hotel is four stars but I disagree. I believe it is only three stars. More
Punta Del Ray
Great place, great staff and great holiday. Comfortable rooms and good food in the restuarant. The pool was a little on the small side for the number of guests but thankfully all those who were there were polite and allowed others space to swim as and when required. More
Don't read bad reviews.
What can I say, this place is fantastic especially for the price you pay and the bad reviews on here seems to be from people who expect the ritz. I went with 5 friends, aged 24-25. We were a bit apprehensive at first because of reviews read previously so I'll categorise good points and points needing improvement. Hotel Room: The hotel room was basic, the beds were very comfy and aircon worked well. The cleaners could of cleaned the room a bit more but towels were changed daily. Our friends had better rooms, luck of the draw I guess. Food: Breakfast was okay, probably the lowest point of food, lunch was good and the snack bar always had hot food there. The dinner was superb, Chinese nights, Sunday dinner, chicken stews, superb. I was worried about food but had all meats and fish and was fine all holiday. Pool: I literally have no idea why people are moaning about sunbeds. Majority of days I didn't even need to queue in mornings and able to find beds, I think there was one day we struggled. But there were chairs. The pool bar was fully stocked and you could get crisps, nuts, olives and any drink. You have to try coconut rum amazing. Pool was clean and lifeguard cleaned every couple of hours. They have volleyball and Zumba in the pool. Animation team: I was not a fan of them, found the hard working ones were the Zumba ones, the games and activities in the day were lazy and was not everyone's cup of tea. Could deffo do with an upgrade of games, games were being played seen in medieval days. Location: a few comments on here have moaned about location, yes it's away from the strip but you can get a bus for 2.50 euros, to local towns t a transfer for 20eurps with Thomson to the strip return. The beach is nice, black sand but f you wanna go in the sea then its fine. There's a beautiful sheesha bar down the road, hidden away with amazing cocktails and view so do go look for it. The sea pool is vile and can do with a clean but tbh I didn't see anyone down there when going down so not really a miss. They have a McDonald's up the hill, fine for a bunch of 25 year olds drunk and hungry at 12-1am, but older and less mobile people may struggle, but they do have mobility scooters. The staff outside in pool bar was the best staff out of everyone, reception was quite rude apart from one or two and at the bar in the lobby she seemed like she didn't like her job. Entertainment was okay, karaoke was hilarious. There is a nightclub disco, again not bad for our age but the music was horrendous but we made it a good night. I will be coming again, definitely. Anyone reading this seriously don't be put down by the bad reviews it's a lovely place, good hotel and I've stayed in a lot worse for a lot more (Butlins) More
An Excellent Fortnight
We absolutely loved this hotel and are already planning to return next year with more family! The hotel is far away from anything but the animation team keep you entertained all day and night so you don't need to leave the hotel. The food is outstanding and varied. We loved the theme nights in the restaurant - Tex-mex, Indian, Asian, Traditional British Sunday Roasts, etc. The daytime activities begin at 10.30am and continue until after 4pm. We joined in with Aqua aerobics, darts, killer pool, petanque, short mat bowls, table tennis, giant Jenga, schoelback....the list goes on! Bingo was at 4pm which was also when La Creperie opened serving freshly made pancakes with a selection of toppings. The snack bar opened at 10.30am until 6pm serving Burgers, hotdogs, pizza, chips etc and a selection of puddings, icecream and fruit. You could never go hungry at this hotel - they even serve Peanuts and crisps at the bar on All-Inclusive. The evening entertainment was varied and great fun. The visiting cabaret included Circus, Singers, A Motown Night, Acrobats, 70's 80's 90's night, and a Magician. The animation team also put on a Variety Show which was great fun! Aaron's Director sketch was hilarious, we had tears running down our cheeks!! The swimming pool was perfect. No need to race for sunbeds although some people still do! The natural pool across the road was gorgeous and so refreshing. But watch out - the steps ARE slippery with algae. Some reviews on here are blaming the hotel for rubbish bins left full in this area, but this is actually a public area. The hotel's adult only terrace is slightly more to the right and you use your keycard to get in there. People are mixing up the 2 areas. Great holiday and we are already planning to return next year with more family! Thank you Punta Del Rey - your staff are a credit to you .More
Great value for money
This hotel is a little gem, booked the holiday last minute and am extremely surprised with how good the holiday was, would even go to say it was one of my favourite holidays. The area is quiet but very hilly so beware! The local beaches are a 5-10 minute walk and are stunning black beaches that lead to the next town up from las caletillas. Along the beach front there are bars and cafes if you want to eat out that are reasonably priced too. There is also a supermarket to the left of the hotel and up the hill which is fantastically priced too. The hotel itself is great, the food was excellent with your fry up style food for breakfast with champagne if you wanted it, lunches were different every day and so we're the dinners, at dinner time there was beer and wine on tap so you could just help yourselves. There's also an Italian restaurant and a fushion snack bar too. The rooms were a decent size and were modern enough there was a safe in the room if you wanted to use it too. Our room wasn't a superior room but you would never know as it was just as good as the superior rooms! Our room was on the third floor wth a lovely view over the poolside and the sea. Evening entertainment was as good as evening entertainment could get, slightly cheesy and cringy however what else can you expect. They also had a dj play every night outside too until 11pm then a disco on until 2am, however you would never have known as there was no noise! Poolside activities every day for people who were interested too. 6 or 7 shops within the hotel to shop in aswell which were surprisingly very cheap. Hotel is a proper little sun trap too for all the sun bathers. I would highly recommend this hotelMore
