What makes Sensatori special?

"With its high-design interiors and impressive pool scene, Sensatori Tenerife is a luxury escape par excellence.”
This Sensatori hotel is the only one in the collection to have been awarded an extraordinary 5T+ rating, so you know you’re in for something special. And what makes it stand out? In a nutshell, its lavish good looks. From the outside it bears a striking resemblance to the Alhambra Palace. Step inside and it’s every inch the modern masterpiece. Cue cutting-edge furniture from the likes of Italian heavyweight, Fendi, over-sized fountains that light up come nightfall, and daybeds that provide the perfect lounging spots. Style aside, this place has plenty of Sensatori trademarks. We’re talking plush deluxe rooms with hi-tech extras like plasma TVs, restaurants that blur the lines between cooking and art, and an infinity pool with monsoon jets and in-water sunbeds. Factor in a coastal setting and a spa made for pampering and you’ve got a retreat with get-me-there-now appeal.

Premier Collection

Sensatori is part of Thomson’s Premier Collection, which means you’re entitled to exclusive extras like a bigger luggage allowance and priority transfers.

The Location

With the Atlantic at its feet and Mount Teide supplying a dramatic backdrop, the location of this hotel is every bit as impressive as the rest of it. It’s in the Guia De Isora area on Tenerife’s southwest coast. Five minutes on foot brings you to the village of Alcalá, which is home to a handful of shops, bars and restaurants, and Los Gigantes is about a ten-minute drive away. What’s more, this is one of the island’s sunniest spots.

The Hotel and Rooms

With its grand Moorish flourishes and arched cloisters, this stylish hotel is reminiscent of the Alhambra Palace. Inside, though, it’s all about high-fashion features. Deluxe rooms team chocolate brown with flashes of orange and green. They all have 32” flatscreen TVs and rain showers. There's a sofa bed, too, that can sleep an extra adult or two children. What’s more, all rooms have a balcony or terrace. To make the most of the setting, book a deluxe room with an ocean view, or one with a private garden and a daybed. Or take things up a notch with a Master Suite. Dressed in sophisticated neutrals, these elegant spaces comprise a living room and a separate bedroom with an en suite whirlpool bath. We also offer Family Master Suites, which consist of a Master Suite and an interconnected deluxe room – they’re perfect if you’re coming away in a bigger group. For the ultimate indulgence, though, book a deluxe room in the ‘Red Level’ zone. This boutique, adults-only wing has a lounge and a private pool. All the deluxe rooms here offer up luxe touches like a pillow and aromatherapy menu and a butler service.

The Pools

The main pool is an attention-grabber, measuring a massive 260-metres. Filled with seawater and accessorised with 70 in-water sunbeds, whirlpools and jets, it merges into an infinity pool. There's an adults-only section, too. Loungers and hammocks offer up views of La Gomera, Tenerife’s sister island. You can even splash out on a luxurious Balinese daybed. Complimentary towels, sun cream and cool facial towels are part of the package, plus you can choose two extra items from a list that includes wine, fruit skewers and newspapers. Elsewhere, there are three other pools, all with their own atmospheres. There’s a family zone, which has a pool for little ones, complete with water jets and slides. There’s also an activity pool and a quieter one surrounded by manicured lawns.

The Dining

As well as six bars and a wine cellar, there are six restaurants to choose from in the evenings. Four of these are included as part of your Full Board Plus package. First up is the main dining venue, Pangea, a huge market-style venue where the finest food from around the world is served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the à la carte front, there’s the Oasis Pool Grill where chocolate-coloured booths provide the stage for delicious Med favourites like fish and paella. Then there’s the Club Ocean Restaurant that serves Italian fare against a backdrop of white banquettes and glass-topped tables. Last but not least, there’s the Market Grill, the place to head for grilled meat, fish and salads in a relaxed, al fresco setting. For something extra special, there are two restaurants worth paying a little extra for. Nami combines the cutting-edge with a taste of old-world Japan. Here, you’ll find a sushi bar, teppanyaki tables and a life-sized army of terracotta warriors. It’s Calima that really steals the show, though. Inspired by Michelin-starred chef, Dani García, it’s where dry-ice cocktails and Iberian-with-a-twist meals are served against a backdrop of Swarovski crystals. In both restaurants, guests get 10 per cent off the final bill. There’s a smart/casual dress code at all six restaurants, which means no swimwear or cut-off shorts. For more on where you can eat and when, see the Full Board Plus details.

The Entertainment

While some people want to take in a show come sundown, others want a quiet corner to enjoy a glass of wine. With that in mind, we’ve selected the best showmen and singers to perform at certain spots around the resort. Choose from live music and West End-style acts or have a relaxed drink while a DJ plays chill-out tunes by the hotel’s fire pit. Head for the Plaza Atlantica, meanwhile, and mood-lit fountains dance in time to music.

The Experience

Relaxation Yhi Spa is a state-of-the-art cocoon where Space Age meets New Age. Featuring all the usual suspects – like an indoor pool, sauna and steam room – as well as out-of-the-ordinary touches like a flotarium, it’s the ultimate multi-sensory experience. Treatment cabins come in indoor and outdoor varieties, while the treatment menu ranges from Indian pressure point facials to aroma and gemstone therapy massages.

* All spa treatments and facilities are payable locally

Sports & Adventure Next to the Yhi Spa you’ll find a state-of-the-art gym. Plus there are three tennis courts, and you can rent bikes to explore your surroundings. There's also a jogging trail that runs along the promenade right by the hotel. And if you phone the ‘Red Glove’ concierge line, they can book you a round on any of the island’s five golf courses.

Play From May to October, and during the Christmas and Easter holidays, there’s the Play House where children aged 3 to 12 can enjoy the Kids’ Kitchen, the Silly Science Lab and the Arts and Crafts Zone. There are free supervised parties and movies in the evenings, plus sleepovers for a charge. The Play House is free and open six days a week for an hour or two at a time. When our staff aren’t running supervised sessions, you can still use the Play House with ‘stay and play’ sessions. And so older ones are kept busy in the summer holidays, we'll put on activities for up to 15-years-old come July and August.

For tiny tots, there’s a multi-sensory nursery open seven days a week. Specially kitted out for newborns through to 4-year-olds, it’s run by UK-accredited childcare staff. Nursery sessions cost extra and need to be pre-booked as there’s a strict child-to-staff ratio.

Full Board Plus

With Full Board Plus, all meals are included and you get complimentary house wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served in the main restaurant. Lunch can be taken in three out of the hotel’s six eateries, while dinner is included in four of them.

Your guide to Guia De Isora, Tenerife

“If you’re looking to get away from it all in serene surroundings, look no further than this traditional Canaries gem.”

Want to come and experience undisturbed days with a traditional Canarian ambience? Then you’ve found the perfect holiday hideaway. This place will suit you to down to the ground. A picture postcard village set against a stunning backdrop of mountains, you’ll find a peaceful pace of life in friendly Guia de Isora that’s just the ticket for unwinding. This unspoilt area has been pretty much missed off the tourism list - so if you’ve come to Tenerife for its lively nightlife, then this won’t be your cup of tea. But if low-key charm is high on your list of priorities, read on. Lie back and relax on the nearby beach – one of the isle’s best - and listen to the soothing sound of the soft surf washing the sands. Bliss. Spectacular vistas are on tap here too, with views stretching out over the sparkling Atlantic Ocean as far as the island of La Gomera. Take a gentle stroll along the coastline and you’ll see the views at their shining best – just don’t forget to take your camera. There’s a liberal sprinkling of shops, with supermarkets for all the necessities and some pretty souvenir shops, and don’t miss the hustle and bustle of the local produce market held on Wednesday and Sunday mornings. You’ll also come across plenty of restaurants where you can tuck into traditional island as well as international food. If you want to pick up the pace, locally there’s tennis, golf, fishing and water parks, plus the bustling resorts of Los Gigantes and Playa De Las Americas. Or jump aboard a leisurely ferry ride to the neighbouring islands of Gran Canaria and La Gomera for a delightful day out to remember.
