Really can't fault this hotel, perfect location, you can turn right and walk about 20 mins to a beautiful peaceful area where you can stop for a drink at the Mirador and people watch, or turn left and walk to the busier La Americas where you can still get 1 Euros pints! Hotel is very clean with great staff and no idea where some of the people got their comments about the food; must of stayed in different place to us as could not fault the food was amazing, we had 2 nights at the Blue Ocean too which was lovely! We enjoyed staying at the top pool area near the infinity pool, the view was amazing and the building work next door did not bother us one bit. Would definitely stay here again, only downside prices are much higher for next year as the building work next door will be Completed.More
Relaxing enjoyable stay at Hovima!
We cannot really fault the hotel, it was spotlessly clean, lots of different options at meal times even for myself the fussiest vegeterain who does not like vegetables! We loved that you could find a sun bed around one of the pools at any time of day...a refreshing change from many hotels...even 5* ones! Yes there is construction work next door but we can honestly say it was not a problem, it wasn't continuous all day and was hardly noticeable! We had no problem relaxing by the pool. The location of the hotel is great, shops nearby and only a 2 min walk to the lively promenade that is busy with mostly families. We had a lovely surprise awaiting us in our room when we arrived for our anniversary and also a special dessert one evening in the restaurant. Would definitely return to Hovima!More
Don't know what some people are on about...
Just got back from a week end of July, myself and a friend, and I literally don't understand how people can give the place a bad review! Mental! Firstly food...breakfast, everything you could want. Cereals, cold meats, cheese, bread, full fry up (bacon, sausages, fried eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, potatoes etc), omelettes or savoury pancakes made to order, pancakes and churros. Probably missed some things out. Why anyone would need to go out for breakfast is beyond me!! Lunch and tea was varied. Soup. Salads both speciality and standard, mix of meat and fish, paella, different potatoes, pasta and pizza. BBQ one night. Sorted!! Went to the ocean blue restaurant and was lovely. Cold meats, Camembert, steak on kebabs (friend had duck) and a chocolate with fruit fondue. What's not to enjoy?? Drinks: all inclusive was fine. Cocktails are slushes but I loved this. (FYI there's more cocktails than the pina colada and tequila sunrise that's ready made!! Somewhere is a menu hiding and they do other ones with the pre made bottles (green lagoon, margaritas, daiquiris etc) Yes they're pre made but saves queues!) spirits are fine and they even had little bottles of ginger ale for my gin and ginger! Entertainment was fine. Yes not the best some nights (80s night was fun) but it is what you make it. Have a drink and a laugh!! During the day loads of activities going on including water aerobics, water polo, football etc. Rooms were lovely. People saying the shower leaks...it's cos it doesn't have a deep tray. Put your bath mat and a hand towel down and it's fine. They'll change them the next day. Pool area was really clean, pool toilets cleanest I've known. Spent a day at Siam park. Bought all inclusive tickets from their website before we went. Yes they were €119 but so so worth it!! Went straight in (queue to buy tickets was down the road). Unlimited fast track on all the slides (u can buy a one ride on each pass but these you can go round and round) and as much food and drink as you want from the beach area. The queues were massive for the slides (1 hour waits) but we just skipped right to the top and jumped on!! There is a fast pass lane. Fantastic! Even got a couple of cans of kopperberg before we went and put them in our bag to take back to have on the balcony. Why not! Advice would be that if you want to do the tower of power, go on it first. There's no fast track on this one and queues are biggest later on. A fantastic day out but wouldn't have enjoyed it as much spending all day in a queue! Went out two nights to playa de las Americas. €7ish each way. Very busy and quite a lot of youngsters but fun!! Anyway, brilliant brilliant holiday! More
Does what it says on the tin
I spent a week at the Hovima Costa Adeje at the end of July. The reception staff are helpful and informative, and the all inclusive package is just that. The food is standard buffet fare which can't be faulted. Two visits to the a la carte "Ocean Blue" restaurant allowed per week (book in advance, aim for one fish night, one meat night) also a barbecue one nigh which was very good. There is an outdoor area to the restaurant with nice sea views. Hot drinks, local alcoholic drinks all unlimited for the week. Some nice cocktails around the pool as well whilst sunbathing. A wide variety of ages and nationalities. Mostly British couples, probably late 20's and early 30's. Evening 'entertainment' is a bit tired (bingo, quizzes) but a couple of good tribute bands were ok. Three pool areas for sunbathing, the main one has an outdoor stage where evening entertainments take place. It is peaceful to sunbathe until about 11am, then the music starts - with the same playlist every day. Headphones are a must, although the in-house wi fi (free) is not too strong around the lower pool area. The middle pool zone has a shallow pool and a snack bar, and the upper pool is probably the most peaceful, and has an infinity pool. The sun beds are plentiful but some people flount the rules and notices by reserving them with towels and failing to appear for many hours. Sun beds are heavy metal affairs not easy to move, and could all benefit from a power wash! The hotel has a spa and small weights room, but I didn't use these. I had 4 rounds of golf during the week, 1 at Adeje (€20 round trip by taxi - good quality and great sea views), 2 at Las Americas (€15 round trip, ok course, good clubhouse) and I hired a car for a day through reception (€42) to drive to Amarilla Golf (poor layout and quality, very ordinary clubhouse - don't bother). I have played Golf in many countries and The extra 3 hours flight time doesn't make Tenerife viable for a return trip over Vilamoura! I ventured out on foot over to shopping centres at Plaza del Duque (quite small) and Siam Mall (bigger and better). There are also lots of shops near the hotel in either direction. It is very busy until late into the evening and felt quite safe to wander down to the seafront and along the coast either to Puerto Colon (turn left) or along Torviscas Playa (right). Lots of families with small children out until well after dark and a visible security presence. Normal precautions against pickpockets as one might employ in London should be sufficient. The Iberostar next door has been stripped back to bare brick and the renovations are due to continue until January 2018. There is drill noise, but unnoticeable with your own headphones in, and no noise is obvious during the lunchtime siesta from 1-3pm. All in all, a good holiday, but I shall be travelling further afield next time.More
If this is to be Hovima's flagship hotel they must be surely embarassed. The food in this place is terrible, I can only think its planned by the capabilities of a 5 year old and the head chef must go. Boiled carrots along with mixed steamed vegatables for BREAKFAST. Most are English holiday makers here and we dont generally go for that mismatch of food, they even do Hash Browns for evening dinner. We started having breakfast out after 3days. 3€ gets you a cracking breakfast. Ocean blue restaurant, well the only thing blue is the way you feel after eating there. I paid a small fortune for EXCELLENCE and got basic, we where in the wrong room for 9 of our 14 nights. It was only when we where told that we questioned it. The room allocation is a lottery and the gold excellence package is a joke. Hovima has a lot of lessons to learn from other hotel chains. At best this is a glamourised 3*. You even have to pay for the ridiculous spa. The parapharmacia around the corner is kept in business by this place, lots of people with upset stomach. By the way, the noise from the Iberostar referb is terrible and not one member of staff made any apologies. I hope when the Iberostar is complete paying public go there instead of this excuse of a hotel. Would not recommend this place and will certainly not use Hovima again. Must be the worse holiday we have ever had.I await the reply from so called customer relations manager. What good she is?More
