Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel

This hotel has got the lot. A trio of pools ticks off rooftop and garden numbers, while the restaurants include a buffet place and an à la carte pool bar. The location aims high, too - it sits in a high-end postcode that comes with a beach.

Sitting in an upmarket corner of Tenerife, the Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel looks out over the sparkling sapphire seas. In fact, you’re just a short stroll down a steep slope from the honey-coloured sands of both Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque. And there’s a sprinkling of shops, bars and restaurants even closer.

It’s not a big brash resort though. Far from it. Here, you’re at the heart of a restful residential area, where most of the 5 star hotels on the island congregate. From the moment you set eyes on the Fanabe though, you probably won’t want to venture far. Sat in gorgeous green grounds, you’re most definitely in for a treat here. You’ll know you’re onto a good thing as soon as you step into the lobby. Light, luminous and lavish, it’s a chic affair all round. We’re talking glossy marble floors. Oh-so inviting sofas. And floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlook one of the eye-catching pool areas.

Talking of which, you’re totally spoilt for choice in the swimming stakes. With three pools to choose from, you’ll have to do the rounds before you decide on a favourite. If it’s jaw-dropping views you want, head for the roof terrace where two of the plunge pools live. Or for a truly tropical setting, there's the main pool sitting in the grounds, surrounded by exotic plants and swishing palms. Rather keep active? No problem. Keep up with your exercise routine at the fully equipped gym, which also offers aerobics lessons and massages. Join in the fun and games with the entertainment team. Or choose from an exhaustive list of sports that includes minigolf, tennis and football. However you work up an appetite, when you’re ready to eat the buffet restaurant offers up international favourites, with on-the-spot cooking stations a mainstay. There's also an a la carte lunchtime eatery by the pool, and you can tuck in to sandwiches at the lobby bar.

Fabulous hotel

This was our first visit to Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel and we can't wait to return. All of the staff are friendly and polite and can't do enough for you. I was unfortunate enough to need a doctor while we were in Tenerife and the hotel staff handled the whole thing fantastically, with a doctor at our door within 10 minutes. The restaurant is well organised and there is a wide variety of foods to suit all ages and nationalities. The hotel is exceptionally clean and the rooms are big with a good sized bathroom and balcony. The only drawback we found with this hotel is that until we arrived there, we were unaware that men cannot wear shorts for dinner. (Trousers or jeans only). Women are allowed to wear shorts which we found a little strange as we would have expected it to be smart dress for all in that case.....Good job my husband wore his jeans to travel in or we would have had a problem! We cannot fault this hotel in any other way and will definitely be returning asap. Loved it!More

Fantastic Hotel, Staff & Service etc etc

we just returned from a week there, 12th-19th Sept. Cannot find anything negative to say about the place at all, staff were excellent & helpful, the place was kept spotless by fantastic staff. The food was beautiful, with so much to choose from. The Entertainment was the best, Justo on his classical guitar was the best guitarist I have ever heard, would Definitely go back there and would highly recommend it to others.More

Lorna H,

Great holiday

Just back from a great holiday at the Fanabe Costa Sur, we found this a great hotel which was very clean the cleaners do a wonderful job, I have read few reviews and yes we thought that parts of the hotel were showing its age but nothing that bad the rooms were a good size we were at the back just above the kitchen delivery area so there was a little noise but again nothing that bad we were on the second floor. the swimming pool was cleaned every morning and as for size (saw a comment that this was small I am not sure what they were expecting as this was quite a large area plus there are two small pools on the top floor. All the staff were more than helpful ,the front desk Reception were excellent with staff who were more than happy to help with any requests and who were very knowledgeable . The hotel is in a good location not far from the beach close to the buses and shops. COLD FOOD was the only down side we had there was a very large selection, for both breakfast and dinner so it would be hard not to find something to eat, we found that a lot of this was luck warm and even cold, cold plates didn’t help, but items like the beans bacon and sausages pizza and other items in the evenings was a real let down, this in part did spoil our stay, which was otherwise excellentMore

Overall standard

Room-high floor, quiet, great view.... Bed however is very old and creaky at every flinch and turn. Wakes you up during the night it's that loud. Mini bar empty on arrival and still empty?! Never had this. Air con great and laundry service excellent. Can't fault the cleaning staff :) Entertainment- is hit & miss.... But easy to venture out if not your cup of tea. Not enough tables to cater for everyone when a good show is on. Waiter service prompt though Food- had 1 warm meal since I arrive last week... Have paid for evening meal and breakfast but can't eat cold food. By the time you have your meat for example... Getting your veg etc to fill your plate isn't in the same area so walking too and from is ridiculous and by the time you reached your seating area the whole plate is cold. Only thing I would say I am disappointed with. Had to pay spending money on food elsewhere Overall apart from the bed issue and food... I would come again but perhaps come self catering More

kirsty r,

Lovely holiday

Just spent 11 nights at Fanabe Costa Sur. Loved every minute, only went bed and breakfast so can't comment on others meals but breakfast great, everything you would expect, omelette, fresh fruit, dinner room large so never felt too busy. The hotel is very clean, our room 182 overlooked the pool and was lovely, large beds, air con, cleaned every day and fresh towels. The pool was large and there's a great roof terrace with plunge pools which is quiet. The hotel was walking distance to all the bars and restaurant and there's plenty to do. Would defiantly return.More
