Good hotel

Visited this hotel for the first time on an all inclusive basis from 24 Apr - 1 May 2016 with a group of 6 of us. Hotel is very clean and tidy, perhaps could do with a bit of an update, but did not detract from the experience. Food very good, staff friendly and helpful, location good, amenities fine. Will visit again.More

Memorable Stay

We booked our last minute 10 day half board holiday through Jet2 and were delighted with the package which included good leg room, bags in hold and transfers. Flight times were excellent both ways and there were no delays. We are regular visitors to Tenerife and have stayed in a number of different 4 or 5 star hotels including two of Fanabe’s sister hotels, Adege Gran and Noelia Sur. Prior to our arrival on 19th April I had contacted Fanabe via email and requested a 4th floor pool side or sea view room. I received a very nice reply stating that on account of our late booking it may not be possible to fulfil our request. However, when we arrived we were given a 4th floor room with a sea view. It was clear from our dining room pass that the room number had been changed to facilitate our request. The room was spacious with two large beds, ample wardrobe space, safe (extra fee), a flat screen TV, settee and fridge. The bathroom had a bath with shower inside, two wash hand basins, toilet and bidet. While our room required a little TLC it did not detract from our wonderful holiday experience at the hotel. WiFi in our room was excellent so we didn’t need to go to the reception area for WiFi connection. WiFi was also very good on the rooftop terrace. Our first breakfast experience was different to other hotels. The table was not dressed with napkins, cutlery, tea cups etc. We had to do a tour of the restaurant to find these essentials. It would be nice if the hotel could change this practice. The hotel offers the same selection of food each day and I enjoyed each and every breakfast. The bacon was the tastiest I’ve experienced in Tenerife!! Dinner was special. The soups on offer were really tasty. Generally, after soup I enjoyed the paella followed by other fish or meat courses. If you like fish you will love this restaurant. I’m not a dessert person so I finished my meal with some fruit, ice cream or cheese. If you have water or wine with your meal you must pay on the way out of the restaurant. Your bill is not passed to reception and added to your account. Overall, staff were very friendly especially at reception, bars and those who look after the bedrooms. Staff in the restaurant did not engage much with us although we did see them engage with families with young children. It would be a nice touch for them to enquire if you were enjoying your meal. There are loads of sunbeds so we didn’t feel we had to rush to get a bed in the morning either around the pool or on the rooftop terrace. The hotel is situated about 5 to 10 minutes’ walk to the promenade and beach. We enjoyed some lovely walks along the promenade particularly to the harbour on one side and La Caleta on the other. For those who like to wheel and deal, the market is held on Thursdays and Saturdays in a car park adjacent to the hotel. We did not really warm to the night entertainment. Too Spanish for our liking. We walked about five minutes to Martini’s where the music is much more suited to those who like to dance - jive, waltz, line dance etc. We had some fantastic nights there! Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fanabe and we can’t wait to return.More

Dated and aiming at full inclusive clients

First of all, I need to stay we have chosen this hotel for our last night in Tenerife as it was pretty close to the airport (20 kilometers - 15 minutes). We knew what to expect from the area (ie not much, compared to other beautiful places in Tenerife). To come back to the hotel, although well maintained, it is now dated and smells disinfectant (not enough to get rid of cockroaches). Based on Tripadvisor reviews, we asked for a room on a high floor, on the right side of the U-shaped building: we were given a room on the 1st floor on the left side... Considering the price we paid, we were trully disappointed. (Single) good point: The receptionist was friendly and able to advise us Canarian food restaurants (not so easy to find in the area)More

Fanatic Stay!

Just arrived back 7 days 21.04 untill 28.04. Our 2nd visit this time 4 years apart and with our twin boys 21 months old. Prior to our stay I had contacted Fanabe via email and requested a pool side room with two travel cots as my booths prefer separate rather than sharing, I had a polite email back saying this would be fine however the cots would be a tight squeeze. Upon arrival we were shown to our room, pool side as requested with two travel cots. Our beds had been pushed together and the cots placed in great spaces which ensured the room was still spacious, 4th floor with great views. Wifi in the hotel, excellent! Had no problems with the wifi, had our phones hooked up to it as well as the iPad on YouTube for our boys there was no buffering whatsoever we were very impressed. Upon the 2nd night one of our little boys developed croup, this meant we had to get him to a hospital ASAP the hotel staff were great, rang us a taxi which came imidietly. When we arrived back at 5am we were asked would we like drinks, tea, coffee or milk for the boys. The next day we had a prescription for meds for him, we had searched everywhere and no where had the meds, walking round all day we give up! We asked the reception could they help and within 2 minutes they had found us a chemist 2 minutes away (typical the only one we hadn't tried) who had the meds, he got the chemist to keep the meds untill we went to pick them up. We couldn't have asked for politer and helpfully staff. We had positive views from our first visit but 2nd time round was fantastic. Huge main pool, always found a good bed with an umberella, we never went poolside untill at least 12pm when the whole pool has sun coverage. Play area very clean and my boys loved playing in there in the evening as day time the equipment was too hot. Fantastic soft play area indoors too. The entertainment team always acknowledged us and made conversation and talked to my boys. They loved having a little dance to the music too, so much better than the pool being quiet. We went half board breakfast lots to choose from!! The fruit and toast went down well for all of us. Then we could choose between lunch and dinner, my only negative point on lunch and dinner was there weren't much for my little boys to eat. There was pizza and pasta and lots of Chips and salad however nothing specific for children. I thought it would have been great if there was a kids section with there own food. They had lots of highchairs and plastic plates, knifes, forks, spoons though. Again very helpful staff, clean facilities definitely would have a 3rd visit. Noticed there was another GF hotel being built near plaza le duque would love to know about this as the chain of hotels seem excellent. Thanks again for a plesant stay.More
