Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel

Sitting in an upmarket corner of Tenerife, the Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel looks out over the sparkling sapphire seas. In fact, you’re just a short stroll down a steep slope from the honey-coloured sands of both Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque. And there’s a sprinkling of shops, bars and restaurants even closer.

It’s not a big brash resort though. Far from it. Here, you’re at the heart of a restful residential area, where most of the 5 star hotels on the island congregate. From the moment you set eyes on the Fanabe though, you probably won’t want to venture far. Sat in gorgeous green grounds, you’re most definitely in for a treat here. You’ll know you’re onto a good thing as soon as you step into the lobby. Light, luminous and lavish, it’s a chic affair all round. We’re talking glossy marble floors. Oh-so inviting sofas. And floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlook one of the eye-catching pool areas.

Talking of which, you’re totally spoilt for choice in the swimming stakes. With three pools to choose from, you’ll have to do the rounds before you decide on a favourite. If it’s jaw-dropping views you want, head for the roof terrace where two of the plunge pools live. Or for a truly tropical setting, there's the main pool sitting in the grounds, surrounded by exotic plants and swishing palms. Rather keep active? No problem. Keep up with your exercise routine at the fully equipped gym, which also offers aerobics lessons and massages. Join in the fun and games with the entertainment team. Or choose from an exhaustive list of sports that includes minigolf, tennis and football. However you work up an appetite, when you’re ready to eat the buffet restaurant offers up international favourites, with on-the-spot cooking stations a mainstay. There's also an a la carte lunchtime eatery by the pool, and you can tuck in to sandwiches at the lobby bar.

Christmas and New Year Holiday

My husband and I with our daughter and her partner also our granddaughter went to the Fanaby for our Christmas holiday. We had a lovely time, the weather was really hot. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff were very nice and helpful. The food was very good with plenty of choice in all of the courses. The Christmas day food was wonderful, we did not think they could do any better but we were wrong as the New Years Eve dinner was spectacular, and the evening entertainment was brilliant, ending with a fireworks display. We will be going back again.More

Value for money

Just back after 10 day stay at the Fanabe Hotel on a half-board basis. Excellent service and very friendly staff. We requested a change of room on arrival and were facilitated immediately.Attention to cleanliness is evident. You won't go hungry at the Fanabe, extensive food choice.More

Enjoyable break

1st time at this hotel & we enjoyed it, last time we went we stayed at Guayarmina Princess which was lots better but half board. But saying that we found the hotel clean & the staff very friendly. My travel agent emailed & asked for a room on floor 3 or 4 & pool view which we got. We had room 306 which was fab. Very large bed beautifully furnished with a bathroom with 2 wash basins, bath with very good shower & bidet. The food was good with plenty of choice but not excellent. Entertainment was OK but often found the same at many other hotels. after 3 days found the roof terrace which was astro turfed with plenty of good sun loungers, a bar & 2 plunge pools. there was also a discreet nudist area well hidden ( I didn't use that facility though) for me the only disappointment was the pool snack bar, the AI had only burgers, sausages & buns & some cakes to choose from. The other snack bar sold sandwiches chips etc but these had to be paid for - a little stingy I thought. There were plenty of sun lounges around the pool area. The hotel is not far from the front & in a very nice area.More

Clean, comfortable and ok

We stayed in a family room on second floor on the sunny side of the hotel, overlooking the pool. The hotel is lovely and clean, staff were lovely. The food was ok, plenty of choice but just warm. We were half board and decided to have lunch at the pool bar one day-mistake, avoid the chicken burger. Very very poor quality meat. Certainly wasn't chicken, although staff insisted it was.More
