Sitting in an upmarket corner of Tenerife, the Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel looks out over the sparkling sapphire seas. In fact, you’re just a short stroll down a steep slope from the honey-coloured sands of both Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque. And there’s a sprinkling of shops, bars and restaurants even closer.
It’s not a big brash resort though. Far from it. Here, you’re at the heart of a restful residential area, where most of the 5 star hotels on the island congregate. From the moment you set eyes on the Fanabe though, you probably won’t want to venture far. Sat in gorgeous green grounds, you’re most definitely in for a treat here. You’ll know you’re onto a good thing as soon as you step into the lobby. Light, luminous and lavish, it’s a chic affair all round. We’re talking glossy marble floors. Oh-so inviting sofas. And floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlook one of the eye-catching pool areas.
Talking of which, you’re totally spoilt for choice in the swimming stakes. With three pools to choose from, you’ll have to do the rounds before you decide on a favourite. If it’s jaw-dropping views you want, head for the roof terrace where two of the plunge pools live. Or for a truly tropical setting, there's the main pool sitting in the grounds, surrounded by exotic plants and swishing palms. Rather keep active? No problem. Keep up with your exercise routine at the fully equipped gym, which also offers aerobics lessons and massages. Join in the fun and games with the entertainment team. Or choose from an exhaustive list of sports that includes minigolf, tennis and football. However you work up an appetite, when you’re ready to eat the buffet restaurant offers up international favourites, with on-the-spot cooking stations a mainstay. There's also an a la carte lunchtime eatery by the pool, and you can tuck in to sandwiches at the lobby bar.

Credit to the staff who work and maintain it!
Just returned from a week at this Hotel. The Hotel is a credit to the staff who work and maintain it! Everywhere is clean, tidy and well maintained.(although some areas could do with a lick of paint) All staff friendly and helpful. Food was ok,plenty of choice! Beds lovely and comfortable. Bar areas lovely and clean. Entertainment excellent, really enjoyed the 3 Tenors and TopHat and heels! Good location.More
A bit tired but good value
The hotel is very clean and the staff in all departments are friendly and helpful. The restaurant offered a very wide selection of buffet type meals which were better than some of those served in similar hotels We have stayed in. The rooms were sound but our room was showing signs of wear and really needs to be refurbed. The pool picture is a bit misleading in the images as it was in partial shade for most of our stay. The location is not too far from the beachfront and there are numerous bars nearby.More

Just returned from a week at Fanabe Costa Sur. Thomson class as 3☆, the hotel has 4☆ would agree with Thomson. Hotel is on top of a hill, if you have walking difficulties look at another hotel, possibly Guyamarina Princess, which is right on the front. Food is repetitive and not always cooked properly. 10 minute boiled egg was nearly raw. Bacon either burnt or undercooked. Room was very clean, we had a Super king size bed which was very comfortable. Staff were very helpful. Sun terrace on roof had plenty of sun beds and was very relaxing, no children allowed. Pool area was clean, plenty of sun beds. Would definately go back to Costa Adeje but probably to a different hotel.More

We recently stayed at the Fanabe as a family party of 12 from 6 months to 60 and were very pleasantly surprised. Some previous reviews had been a little negative but the hotel was exceptionally clean, the staff were lovely, the rooms were blitzed daily and the entertainment team worked extremely hard. Our two four year olds enjoyed the morning kids club visits. A lot of people did reserve sun beds but to give the hotel their due the pool didn't open until 9am and a chain was kept across. Once this was removed people popped their towels down but I don't think that 9 is an unreasonable hour to be up and about even on holiday. Previous places that I have stayed required an alarm call with the birds to get a bed! The pool felt cold at first but was heated and was very clean with different sections for swimmers and people who wanted to play games. Two of us did B & B whilst the others were all inclusive. We enjoyed the breakfasts especially the omelettes never having a queue of more than 3 people in front of us. The family enjoyed the all inclusive option having small people who liked to try different food without the expense of wasting anything. We ate out in the evening and found lots of different restauraunts within a five minute walk. Down the road and turn left then into the little shopping arcade were four or five excellent choices with a lot more friendly service than the bigger restaurants along the front. Entertainment was good on a night - kids section first with music and balloons and then an act (although the Charlie Chaplin guy was very creepy). This was downstairs in the disco then we moved upstairs for more music and occasional acts up in the foyer. The best beds I have had whilst away in Europe. Air conditioning was poor but the room wasnt facing the sun so we could keep it fairly cool. It was the first time that I have been away and seen no insects - not even flies or ants. The staff were lovely with the toddlers and babies and very tolerant of our family - anyone who wanted peace and quiet tended to go up onto the roof terraces so I didn't feel guilty if they were noisy in the pool which being a larger group can sometimes happen. I would happily go back to the Fanabe - maybe even on all inclusive for the drinks package whilst still eating out at night.More
Not as we expected
I arrived at fanabe costa sur the hotel looked and seemed lovely it was very clean (5*) and the rooms are also very nice (5*) when the hotel asks for requests for your stay we asked for a pool view and a high floor however thomsons doesn't tell you that it's £3 per day per person for a pool view baring in mind we booked 12 months before our stay and we we're left disappointment because our request wasn't honored! After speaking to the reception we moved rooms after 2 days as we was given a room over looking the car park we're everyone could see into own room ! if you enjoy your food DONT GO HERE! The food is horrible all the plates smelt( doggy)Asif they hadn't been dried properly all we ate was chips and it wasn't nice to have the same meal everyday we ate out for breakfast and lunch and then was dreading our main meal but we didn't expect to be paying money out for food when we paid extra for all inclusive the food doesn't even look appetising as the soup for example looked like dish water!! the bar staff are very rude and do not want to know you if you're not paying customers e.g if your all-inclusive , the entertainment wasn't good, daft and a waste of time only thing good about the hotel are the FREE DRINKS however you need to order a few drinks as they are watered down.More
