Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel

This hotel has got the lot. A trio of pools ticks off rooftop and garden numbers, while the restaurants include a buffet place and an à la carte pool bar. The location aims high, too - it sits in a high-end postcode that comes with a beach.

Sitting in an upmarket corner of Tenerife, the Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel looks out over the sparkling sapphire seas. In fact, you’re just a short stroll down a steep slope from the honey-coloured sands of both Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque. And there’s a sprinkling of shops, bars and restaurants even closer.

It’s not a big brash resort though. Far from it. Here, you’re at the heart of a restful residential area, where most of the 5 star hotels on the island congregate. From the moment you set eyes on the Fanabe though, you probably won’t want to venture far. Sat in gorgeous green grounds, you’re most definitely in for a treat here. You’ll know you’re onto a good thing as soon as you step into the lobby. Light, luminous and lavish, it’s a chic affair all round. We’re talking glossy marble floors. Oh-so inviting sofas. And floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlook one of the eye-catching pool areas.

Talking of which, you’re totally spoilt for choice in the swimming stakes. With three pools to choose from, you’ll have to do the rounds before you decide on a favourite. If it’s jaw-dropping views you want, head for the roof terrace where two of the plunge pools live. Or for a truly tropical setting, there's the main pool sitting in the grounds, surrounded by exotic plants and swishing palms. Rather keep active? No problem. Keep up with your exercise routine at the fully equipped gym, which also offers aerobics lessons and massages. Join in the fun and games with the entertainment team. Or choose from a list of sports that includes minigolf and football. However you work up an appetite, when you’re ready to eat the buffet restaurant offers up international favourites, with on-the-spot cooking stations a mainstay. There's also an à la carte lunchtime eatery by the pool, and you can tuck in to sandwiches at the lobby bar.

Lovely holiday

We spent a very restful week at this hotel. Lovely swimming pool on ground level with plenty of sun beds and a bar. We preferred the patio area on the roof as this was relaxed and quieter. There are loads of sun loungers and 2 small pools. We were all inclusive and the food was great loads of choice and varied from day to day. The staff are professional but friendly if you make the effort. The bar area is very pleasant with an out door patio. There was entertainment each night. We did not seek out the disco area. The receptionists were very helpful so all in all a great stay.More

Needs some TLC

In my opinion this is a nice hotel, nice friendly staff and our suite is nice too but this is not a 4 star standard. We paid extra for a suite and I even tho we like it there is no sun at all on the balcony due to the position of the hotel. The jacuzzi bath in the suite is worth the upgrade. The breakfast is Luke warm and not a good choice glad we opted for b&b but ate breakfast nearby most mornings. The pool is lovely but the sunbeds are far too close together but the roof pool area is lovely, quiet and relaxed. The position of the hotel is great u can walk down the front all the way to playa las Americas and the surrounding area is lovely. I wouldn't return to this hotel it needs a refurb and more attention to the food (only had breakfast) a little TLC and this hotel could be bettetMore
