Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel

Loading

Sitting in an upmarket corner of Tenerife, the Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel looks out over the sparkling sapphire seas. In fact, you’re just a short stroll down a steep slope from the honey-coloured sands of both Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque. And there’s a sprinkling of shops, bars and restaurants even closer.

It’s not a big brash resort though. Far from it. Here, you’re at the heart of a restful residential area, where most of the 5 star hotels on the island congregate. From the moment you set eyes on the Fanabe though, you probably won’t want to venture far. Sat in gorgeous green grounds, you’re most definitely in for a treat here. You’ll know you’re onto a good thing as soon as you step into the lobby. Light, luminous and lavish, it’s a chic affair all round. We’re talking glossy marble floors. Oh-so inviting sofas. And floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlook one of the eye-catching pool areas.

Talking of which, you’re totally spoilt for choice in the swimming stakes. With three pools to choose from, you’ll have to do the rounds before you decide on a favourite. If it’s jaw-dropping views you want, head for the roof terrace where two of the plunge pools live. Or for a truly tropical setting, there's the main pool sitting in the grounds, surrounded by exotic plants and swishing palms. Rather keep active? No problem. Keep up with your exercise routine at the fully equipped gym, which also offers aerobics lessons and massages. Join in the fun and games with the entertainment team. Or choose from an exhaustive list of sports that includes minigolf, tennis and football. However you work up an appetite, when you’re ready to eat the buffet restaurant offers up international favourites, with on-the-spot cooking stations a mainstay. There's also an a la carte lunchtime eatery by the pool, and you can tuck in to sandwiches at the lobby bar.

Very clean, food a little repetitive

We have just spent 10 days at the Fanabe on an all inclusive package. First impressions were very good; the reception team were very polite and helpful and our room was spotlessly clean. The food was fine, but by the end of our holiday it had become repetitive and going for a meal became more of a chore than something to look forward to; although each evening meal is themed in reality very little changes. Service in the restaurant was variable, we found that if we were shown to a table by the staff we got our drinks fairly quick, if told to go and find a table ourselves, we became disowned by the waiting staff, until that is our plates were ready (or nearly ready) to be cleared when the eagerness of the waiting staff held no bounds! Further to earlier posts, it was made clear on checking in that shorts were not acceptable during dinner and this appeared to be enforced by the waiting staff, now if only they could do something about the sleeveless vests! The pool was fine and the reception area and outside bar were pleasant areas to listen to the live music and enjoy a drink. We would go back to the Adeje area again (we also went last year), but would probably opt for B&B and take the opportunity to vary our evening meal by eating out at the many restaurants in the area.More

Great Holiday

My husband myself and my 15 year old son stayed hear in April 2014 for one week all inclusive we had a great holiday just a few negatives the room we was given was not big enough I asked if we could have a connecting room as my son is 6ft 4 in and a bit embarrassed to be sharing with mum and dad but this wasn't possible. In the morning Breakfast service was like a fight everything all over the place and not enough toasters and could do with a little more organisation. The rest of the service at meal times was fantastic the food was themed every night with some great dishes. The reception staff were very helpful also the waiting on and bar staff were fantastic. The rooms were cleaned everyday with towels changed everyday. I would go back. Thanks for a great holiday.More

Very clean

Very clean hotel. Very polite housekeeping staff. In a good location for us and close to the beach. Food was ok, more choice if you like fish, meat options not always appealing to us. We stayed half board and therefore sometimes ate lunch in hotel and dinner out in restaurants on the seafront. Didn't see their entertainment so unable to comment on that. Overall we had lovely week.More

hold on tight to your plates!!

Currently staying in this hotel which is lovely and clean. Cleaning staff, reception staff are wonderful but waiting on staff in dining room should have some etiquette training. They shuffle you in, find you a table then guaranteed will ask you about 6 times if you have finished so they van clear up and ship you out. On several occasions I have literarily had my plate scooped off me while im still chewing. Very annoying!!More

PLEASE READ... TERRIBLE KITCHEN STAFF TERRIBLE FOOD

Came here last May and everything was amazing... came again in december which was lovely but the food quality went downhill. Gave it another chance in march 2014 once again food terrible...Steak and lamb was thinner than bacon looked alot like dog food, portions very small, when i asked for more it was thrown on my plate along with a disgusted look from the cook, Food very repetative. When i asked for my pancake to be cooked a little longer as they looked well under cooked , i was told that its not possible by cook YAYA and another staff member DANIEL, i stood my ground and after 4 lots of pancake servings she gave in and made them for me whilst muttering under her breath no doubt calling me. Reported this lady YAYA to manager. Very very rude staff that made you feel like you was scrounging for more food when they should give you enough to begin with. The texture of the meat was similar to quorn with added geletine. NOT GO BACK unless change of kitchen staff. rest of holiday was brilliant luckily we only went half board so had most meals out.
