This hotel has got the lot. A trio of pools ticks off rooftop and garden numbers, while the restaurants include a buffet place and an à la carte. The location aims high, too - it sits in a high-end postcode that comes with a beach.
Sitting in an upmarket corner of Tenerife, the Fanabe Costa Sur Hotel looks out over the sparkling sapphire seas. In fact, you’re just a short stroll down a steep slope from the honey-coloured sands of both Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque. And there’s a sprinkling of shops, bars and restaurants even closer.
It’s not a big brash resort though. Far from it. Here, you’re at the heart of a restful residential area, where most of the 5 star hotels on the island congregate. From the moment you set eyes on the Fanabe though, you probably won’t want to venture far. Sat in gorgeous green grounds, you’re most definitely in for a treat here. You’ll know you’re onto a good thing as soon as you step into the lobby. Light, luminous and lavish, it’s a chic affair all round. We’re talking glossy marble floors. Oh-so inviting sofas. And floor-to-ceiling glass windows that overlook one of the eye-catching pool areas.
Talking of which, you’re totally spoilt for choice in the swimming stakes. With three pools to choose from, you’ll have to do the rounds before you decide on a favourite. If it’s jaw-dropping views you want, head for the roof terrace where two of the plunge pools live. Or for a truly tropical setting, there's the main pool sitting in the grounds, surrounded by exotic plants and swishing palms. Rather keep active? No problem. Keep up with your exercise routine at the fully equipped gym, which also offers aerobics lessons and massages. Join in the fun and games with the entertainment team. Or choose from an exhaustive list of sports that includes minigolf, tennis and football. However you work up an appetite, when you’re ready to eat the buffet restaurant offers up international favourites, with on-the-spot cooking stations a mainstay. There's also an a la carte lunchtime eatery by the pool, and you can tuck in to sandwiches at the lobby bar.

If this was a 3* hotel you'd be more than happy with it and even impressed but it's not up to basic 4* standards Good: clean, entertainment staff, health & safety, pool, pool views, kids foam party event, kids water slide event, lifts (quick + glass lift nice), drinks (good selection), rooms cleaned daily to a good standard Average: rooms, food (very hit and miss / not impressive even at its best), staff (smiles are rare + they ignore / walk past you rather than serve you) + don't expect any friendly chit chat from them, shows at night (all talking is mimed but the entertainment team do put in the effort), restaurant more like a canteen Bad: decor (seating inside the lobby looks more like a working man's club), service (takes ages for them to serve you), wifi (very very hit and miss for guests) In a nutshell, everything is hit and miss. If you aren't expecting a 4* hotel or haven't stayed in many so that you can compare, you'll probably enjoy the hotel a lot.More
Fantastic and epic time
Stayed for 2 weeks and I can honestly say my family had a fantastic time, rooms were spotless, food was out of this world, all staff were polite. We would recommend this hotel it's awesome..... It was a safe hotel for my 11 year old to explore with the many friends he made while there. Thank you Fanabe we had a wonderful time and didn't want to come home :( More
Just returned on 13th august after a week at this resort in tenerife and have to say what a beautiful hotel and resort. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, our large room was cleaned daily and clean towels each day. Our view from our balcony was panoramic and come evening around 11pm it was very peaceful. We were bed and breakfast so did not get the chance to try the evening meals however the breakfast was adequate they cater for all nationalities so there was plenty on offer and fresh hot pancakes for the kids! Only negative comment was the children on the rooftop area although they were not disruptive and noisy we were told that this was adult only area and the plunge pools for the adults. We would not hesitate to return to this hotel and hopefully it will be again this year. Thank you fanabe costa surMore

My wife, 2 year old son and I stayed in the Costa Fanabe Sur for two weeks from July 2014. If you're looking for a fantastic, extremely clean and comfortable hotel in a great part of Tenerife then this is the place to stay. If, like others on this site, you're looking for: a 5 star hotel completely to yourself; Michelin Star food spoon fed to you; every member of staff to preempt your every desire; while only paying 3/4 star prices - then you should look elsewhere! The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout; the chambermaids are a real credit. The rooms are large and airy with flat screen t.v, mini bar and extremely comfortable beds. Our mini bar was not working on arrival but was replaced the next day. The air con is a big plus. I've read some people on here complaining of the poor WIFI; in the two weeks we stayed we only experienced a couple of days where the bandwidth was poor, otherwise it was excellent throughout the hotel including the pool area allowing me to listen to Spotify etc. The food is very good with an excellent variety. Staying half board, we loved the fact that we could choose to go for lunch or dinner each day; we mostly went for lunch and went out for dinner in the evenings. There was always a variety of different meat dishes, fish and vegetarian options for lunch and dinner; I particularly enjoyed the breakfasts with freshly made to order omelettes. The only issue with the restaurant is the rudeness of the holidaymakers of which the hotel has no control. The restaurant can become very busy at certain times and as a result some people believe that their needs are more important than others choosing to barge into people, run from one station to another, take six slices of the freshly prepared pizza when there are only 10 (and a queue of people behind them) and in some cases be very rude to the staff because "they've paid for this". The bar areas are very nice with a lovely outside area at the front entrance. There is live music here every night. Being able to get fresh clean pool towels every day was another bonus and removed the worry of excess baggage. A 10 euro deposit for each towel is returned on your departure. The pools are great with a large free form pool on the ground floor and two plunge pools on the roof. The pools are well maintained and kept very clean. The roof top pools and solarium are great. Children are only allowed up here when accompanied by an adult. The 6 or 7 times that I visited the roof area (on my own) there were only a handful of kids and it was extremely tranquil. Yet again, the holidaymakers are the one that cause the real issues. During our first week we could go the main pool as late as 11 am and still get beds and a parasol; essential when on holiday with a two year old. By the second week, unless you were at the pool by 9.30 there was no way chance of getting beds or parasols. This was a result of very selfish holidaymakers who would queue for the pool opening before running to get beds in 'their' spot. I actually saw a grown woman and man run for the same loungers from opposite directions before one of them threw their towels on the bed from afar stopping the other person getting them; I also saw people throwing towels onto beds form their balconies. This is fine if that's what you want to do however the majority of people would place 5 or 6 towels on beds, take two or three parasols and then go away for breakfast or go somewhere and would not return till as late as 1pm. This would result in young families looking for parasols for their children but with none being available. I would also like to add that the people doing this were in the vast majority of cases British with the odd few Spanish joining in. I never heard one German voice at the pool in a fortnight contradicting the usual stereo types. Come on people, have some consideration for others and come on hotel management, be brave and stick their towels in the pool! Some really nice restaurants in Costa Adeje and San Eugenio. Some lovely bars and restaurants down at promenade area; particular mention for Little Italy. The promenade area at night is great for families with some nice bars being total pedestrianised it's safe for kids/teenagers. We went to aqualand one day. It was excellent and was not overly busy. The longest wait time for one of the slides was 5 minutes. You can get on and off the free bus around the cornder fro the hotel in front of the hotel Isla Bonita. Tickets are reasonably priced although be warned; it is relatively expensive when inside. If I remember correctly it's 6 euros for chips and 12 euros for pizza, not to mention the foot long drinks. Although the beer was well priced :-) Get a taxi to and from the airport. It's only around 15 minutes away - around 30 euros. We were in our room within an hour of landing. Overall, a fantastic holiday, fantastic location and a fantastic hotel! A four star hotel with 3/4 star prices. Shame about some of the holidaymakers!More

At best two-star!
Complete and utter rubbish hotel. In very sad need of repair and not at all four-star. There was a stampede for the pool and that was verified with the shouts and cries as people were allowed through to the pool area which is so crowded. Furthermore, having to pay for everything in cash, £10 per pool towel and £20 for the iron because people tend to "leave" with them, as we were told by the front desk staff. The food is of such poor quality and choice but that didn't stop the people from loading their plates and running around to get as much as possible. Sorry, but it was like feeding time at the zoo. There are a couple of things that are good about this hotel and those were that some of staff tried to help and were courteous. Also, the location is good. There is a nice beach about 10 minutes walk away. Would not return and would definitely not recommend.More
