Colon Guanahani Hotel

This grand hotel gives you three pools and a setting just 5-minutes’ walk from the beach.

This place was given a makeover in 2014. It has a grand, colonial feel and is edged by tropical gardens, at the centre of which lie two huge pools. And it’s less than a 5-minute walk from a sandy bay and the smart shops and restaurants in Playa Fanabé.

Breakfast and dinner are covered in the buffet restaurant, while lunch comes courtesy of the pool bar. Both have large terraces so you can eat outside. The massage menu in the spa is well worth a look, too.

One of the best

Just returned after spending 2 weeks at this lovely hotel. Although it is adults only it is for all ages young and mature, we found the young people wanted to just relax and enjoy the pool and sun with no shouting or diving in the water, and No Loud music blaring all day. The rooms were lovely with plenty of room as other reviews have stated the walk in power shower was a joy after a hot day by the pool. The staff are all lovely pleasant always a freindly hello they could not do enough to help and please the guests, they are a credit to the hotel. You can decide at check in when you want your towels and bed linen changed, you have pool towels and sunbed cover in the room. Even in July we found no problem with finding a sun lounger anytime during the day. The pool area is a little oasis calm and peaceful. The entertainment was not brilliant the best acts were the 2 different groups which were Spanish dancers and another group who were cabaret dancers. In Costa Adeje there are plenty fo places to eat and drink if the hotel is not to your liking. If you are looking for daytime activities and night life this hotel is not for you. The hotel was kept spotless and service was excellent. A big thank you To ALL the staff front of house and behind the scenes who do a fantastic job and always with a smile. Will we go back I hope so.More

Quiet hotel clean well maintained all of the staff friendly and professional pools never crowded lovely to eat outside due to the fact it's adults only a few young couples but mainly 50+ fit the brief. Enjoyed the half board option relaxed evenings and the overall relaxed atmosphereMore

Fabulous Hotel.

Everything about this hotel is first class, friendliest staff I have ever come across. Stayed for a week as a birthday surprise, my wife couldn't have chosen better. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone and would certainly return.More

Peaceful oasis

Having booked a superior room, we were upgraded to a suite upon arrival. No sparkling wine, but still a very warm welcome as we were met from our coach, our cases taken from us and checked in very quickly. The room was spacious and pool facing, also overlooking the outside terrace where meals can be taken. There is a very high standard of cleanliness, which the staff appear to take pleasure in maintaining. The courtesy and friendliness of all the staff we encountered was second to none. Pool towels were provided, one for the lounger and one to dry yourself with, which you could change daily with no charge. There was also no charge for the wifi or the safe in the room. Mini bar a little expensive, but that's to be expected and you don't really need to use anything out of it, especially if you do as we did, and buy water/drinks from the supermarket and use the mini bar as a fridge. Adults only, there is a peace and tranquillity at odds with the livelier areas of the resort. No music on poolside and you are protected from the roadside noise. Previous reviews have said that there are a large majority of much older people, I found this not to be the case at this time of year. Ages ranged from early 20's to late 80's, and everybody seemed to keep themselves to themselves. No raging parties, but if that's what you want, you will find plenty in the resort. Just go out of the hotel, head towards the beach and turn left!!! You have everything from chill out cocktails to sports bars to fun pubs. If you want a quieter evening, turn right instead of left and you will find some very classy restaurants and spectacular views. (And a very upmarket, expensive shopping centre!) The only reason I did not give the Guanahani a five is because of the food. Breakfast was absolutely fine with the grill chefs providing fresh omelette's, fried eggs and pancakes on demand, with also a very good range of cereals, fruit and typical breakfast options provided, Champagne too if you want it, at no extra charge. However, having stayed half board, I found the hot food provided with the evening meal a little lacking. Only to be expected from buffet style food. Again the grill chefs were providing freshly cooked options which differed each evening, and this was definitely the best option. What was good though was that if you wanted to swap your evening meal for lunch in the pool bar, you could do so. All in all, a lovely experience at the Guanahani, I would recommend it to friends, in fact I have already done so. I would definitely return, but with the Bed and Breakfast board option. More

Fabulous Four Star

Overall my partner and I were very satisfied with our stay at the Colon Guanahani, the hotel provides great accommodation for a reasonable price. We were the last to arrive at the hotel so the check in process was very speedy. We were then taken to our room and given a very in depth tour of the room and various landmarks that could be accessed from the hotel which was a very nice touch. The room was fabulous!! We opted for a standard room and could not have been more pleased. The room was spacious and clean with a great walk in wardrobe with plenty of hangers and a very stylish bathroom with a huge shower. The room was cleaned daily to a high standard and there was a plentiful supply of both beach and bath towels. The room also had a very decent sized flat screen tv with a good selection on channels including English ones. The room was air conditioned and the hotel provided you with a second swipe card for your room so that the aircon could be left on throughout the day, meaning you had a lovely cool room to come back to after a day in the sun. We only ventured to the roof top pool which we found to be very relaxing. It was always possible to find a sun lounger at any time during the day at the roof top pool, which made the holiday very relaxing as we did not have to set an alarm to reserve a sun bed as you do in most resorts. The main pool area did seem quite a lot busier but we were very happy with the roof top pool as it provided lovely views out to sea and a jacuzzi. We stayed bed and breakfast at the hotel and found the selection at the breakfast buffet very pleasing. My boyfriend opted for a cooked breakfast each day with the chefs cooking bacon and your choice of eggs fresh. Meanwhile I opted for the fab selection on fruit, pastries and yoghurt. We did not eat any main meals at the hotel but on several evenings we went to the bar for drinks, we would recommend the sangria and the signature Colon Guanahani cocktail!! The day before check out we are able to reserve a half an hour courtesy room so that we could enjoy the hotel facilities before our late flight. I would recommend the Colon Guanahani as an excellent hotel for a relaxing, adult only break in great surroundings!More
