Colon Guanahani Hotel

This grand hotel gives you two huge pools and a setting just 5-minutes’ walk from the beach.

This place was given a makeover in 2014. It has a grand, colonial feel and is edged by tropical gardens, at the centre of which lie two huge pools. And it’s less than a 5-minute walk from a sandy bay and the smart shops and restaurants in Playa Fanabé.

Breakfast and dinner are covered in the buffet restaurant, while lunch comes courtesy of the pool bar. Both have large terraces so you can eat outside. The massage menu in the spa is well worth a look, too.

A great hotel

Just returned after a few days at this very friendly hotel. This was my sixth visit which really says it all! My thanks to all the staff without exception for making my short stay so pleasurable. The hotel has benefited from the refurbishment last year, it is very bright, spacious and very comfortable. Again thank you all and look forward to returning very soon.More

Friendly, peaceful and spacious

From the moment we arrived until the time we left, the level of service and friendliness of the hotel staff was excellent. The service at reception was fast and we were welcomed with a glass of bubbly. We booked a Double Superior room which we found to be well designed with a walk in wardrobe which included a safe that was free of charge. The bathroom was spacious (as was the bedroom) and included a walk in shower that was also very spacious. For those that like to relax in their rooms for part of the holiday, there was a good mix of TV programmes including BBC 1/2, ITV 3/4, Sky News/Sports for English speakers; other nations were also well served. There was also free WIFI in the room. The breakfast room had large indoor and outdoor areas and the breakfast fayre was ample and of good quality. The pool area was very relaxing with ample sunloungers and a good pool restaurant. Also very impressive was the constant presence of a lifeguard - something that you don't see in many hotels. Finally, and very important, the location of the hotel was excellent i.e. close to restaurants, bars and the beach.More

My Fly and Flop Holiday

Spent a fabulous ten days at this hotel. Every aspect of the Holiday was perfect, Especially the staff. As I holiday on my own being looked after means a lot. All the staff made me feel very welcome. I enjoyed the the Heated Pools, and the quiet as it's a No Children Hotel. It was kept very clean. I had a lovely room and to get Free Wi Fi in the room was great. Lovely Breakfast Buffet and to top,it off the weather was great. Thanks again to all the staff.More

Winter sun

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who gave cava while they explianed the hotel the then took us to our room. The room was very good, very clean and very modern with it's walk in wardrobe and large shower. The dining room is large and facilities to eat outside. The food was very good with the option of buffet or serve at your seat. There was a different roast every night (which was excellent) and plenty of fish dishes. We also had the occational lunch at the pool side cafe/bar and the that was very good with large portions. There is two main pools on the ground level and a roof top pool with jacuzzi. I hate cold swimming pools but all these pools are warm and just to my liking. There is entertainment every night which was quite good depending on your taste and this was by the main bar. If your a cocktails then this is the place to be with a selection of about 30 to pick from. The WiFi, Pool towels and room safe are all free. The hotel is an adults only so the majority of people I would say are retired and looking for a quiet holiday (as we were) and thats what you get. When we return to Tenerife we will probably stay here again.More

A good three-start hotel

Not a four-star, but a good three-star. No parking and advice about easy parking on the road was wrong (a nightmare every day). Hotel very clean, gym good (new equipment and always empty as most guests elderly) and pool area nice and big. Most of the staff (chefs and one of the reception employees excepted) seemed not to want to serve people of a similar age, but could clown around and fawn over kids and elderly people. Sometimes very rude to us. Coffee was always black with hot milk on the side - breakfast and pool café staff had no idea what latte, cappuccino and café au lait were (surprising for a so-called 4-star). Self-moving twin beds of course. We had a nice here though. With attention to a few details and some staff training (we concluded some staff had got in by someone just having left the back door open) this could be a really nice place - a 4-star even.More
