Colon Guanahani Hotel

This grand hotel gives you two huge pools and a setting just 5-minutes’ walk from the beach.

This place was given a makeover in 2014. It has a grand, colonial feel and is edged by tropical gardens, at the centre of which lie two huge pools. And it’s less than a 5-minute walk from a sandy bay and the smart shops and restaurants in Playa Fanabé.

Breakfast and dinner are covered in the buffet restaurant, while lunch comes courtesy of the pool bar. Both have large terraces so you can eat outside. The massage menu in the spa is well worth a look, too.

Superb hotel-first class throughout

Recently returned following our 4th visit and our first since the refurbishment programme.Great new heated rooftop pool and the food selection in the dining room just keeps getting better year on year. What hasn't changed though is the first class service from all the staff who really make your stay at the hotel hassle free. Colon Guanahani is a lovely hotel to enjoy a winter break in a tranquil environment.More

Brilliant hotel

After reading tripadvisor reviews, we decided to choose this hotel and took the advice about upgrading to a superior twin room overlooking the pools. We were delighted with all aspects of the hotel. Location is central and the facilities are first class. It never feels overcrowded, with 3 heated pools and plenty of sunloungers. There is also a spa, gym and fitness centre. A big plus is that the hotel caters for adults only. All the staff are friendly and courteous and clearly recognised and welcomed guests who had been there before. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked to return in December.More

Treated with overwhelming indifference

My partner and I booked a Superior Double Room some months ago and stayed for a week, returning two days ago. The hotel looks great and the reported refurbishments are very impressive. However, we felt rather disappointed by the lack of hospitality or even friendliness from staff. The Reception staff were quite offhand and there was little or no eye contact - they were clearly more interested in charging payment in full before even being shown to our room. The room was not what we had requested and did not have a double bed. At our request we were re-allocated and it was made clear this was an inconvenience to the staff. Again, no double bed as booked. Already an air of resignation was creeping in to our much-anticipated holiday. The rest of our stay was uneventful and facilities are good. However, this is not for the under 70's age group. It's great that the elderly can be catered for, though I was very nervous about falls by the pool or slips/trips (though there are very good ramps in all the right places). Also good to know that pool hygiene and safety appears to be a priority and the water was tested regularly. I just wish we were made to feel more welcome. My partner speaks Spanish which is usually an ice-breaker but it didn't help on this occasion. I have to say that we will not be returning but wish the hotel every success with their particular niche/customer profile.More

Excellent hotel good location. Room very good really clean. Staff very friendly. We had bed & breakfast which was very good everything very fresh & eggs bacon & omelet cooked to your liking. Would definitely go back to this hotel if we visit Tenerife again. Rooftop pool & jacuzzi wonderful just by our room & very warm as were the other pools.More

Visit to the hotel January 2015

We have recently returned from a splendid fortnights holiday at the Colon Guanahani hotel. Extensive refurbishment was undertaken last year including an additional swimming pool with Jacuzzi. This work has added an extra gloss to the already high standard though out the hotel. Rooms have been updated through out. The hotel were able to provide us with the room we requested. The helpful and efficient staff contribute to the hotels success. The food was excellent at breakfast and dinner, the whole atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The fact that so many clients return regularly speaks for itself. This was our second visit and we are looking forward to a return holiday soon. The Hogg FamilyMore
