An amazing holiday

To say I dint book the PlayaOlid . I feel very lucky that jet 2 moved me to this hotel . This was a holiday for me my mother and 9 year old daughter Millie . Landing late at night we were made to feel very welcome at reception given all the assistance that was needed. Did the first day just finding your feet a few to many drinks. Went to see the night time entertainment and found that this hotel had an entertainment team that could actually entertain you . Over the next 2 weeks the girls and Fran kept us entertained day and night . Olivia , Maggie and Natalia (the Spanish princess ) got me doing things ive never done before especially like singing on kareokee amongst other things. The bar staff were great the only down side is Patricia left in the middle of my stay . I like to say a big thank you to all the staff and entertainment team for a fabulous 2 weeks wonderful . xxMore

Worst Holiday Ever

We had our first holiday cancelled on 2/6/16 via an email from Thomas Cook advising is that this was due to the Bitacora having building works again and that it was very disrupting. Working with our local Thomas Cook branch we were offered the Playa Olid for an extra £774.00. The reason for the extra money was we were to go fully inclusive as at the Bitacora we were only going half board which suited our needs better as my children are very small eaters. This brought our only total up to just shy of £7k. However the Bitacora was a four star and the Playa Olid a three star. We prepared our children for the change in hotel (they are adopted) so need lots of explaining to. We arrived at 12.30 after getting our children up at 3.30am that morning. Upon arriving we were told our rooms were not ready and they wouldn't be ready for sometime! Eventually after complaining one room became available at 3:30pm and we had to wait for the second from until 4pm. The rooms are very modern but are very mismatched to the rest of the accommodation. The hallways and pools look very dated. We were travelling with a 3,5,9,11 year old children, nanny, myself and husband. The main pool has steps in the shallow end but this is often used for aerobics or sports, the second pool has no steps in the shallow end so children have to enter into the deep end and hold onto the wall to travel round which in itself is dangerous. There is a smaller toddler pool but this gets used by the older children and becomes dangerous when the first pool is used for activities, it also gets very overcrowded. Lifeguards sit on iPads or telephones when they are supposed to be watching. The pools do not open until at the earliest 9:30 as they clean around the pools each morning. Holes appeared in the second pool area granted they were quickly repaired but should it of happened? Pools are not big enough for the size of the hotel. There are not enough sun-beds ones that were there often broke. Food is of very poor quality COCKROACHES often wonder around the dining room, initially when pointed out to staff they would kill them but after a few days they said they had called the relevant people and leave them to continue walking around the food counters and up walls. Often walking around food counters as pictures show. One even fell onto a woman's head and she screamed personally I would have wet myself! It's the same food day in day out for the children. The dining hall is not sufficient for the amount of guests it really is like a cattle market. One side of the restaurant near the back was mainly closed we often had to ask staff to open it so we could sit as a family when we did venture into the restaurant. We went all inclusive however this did not include ice creams only ice pops which would always run out by 10:30 each morning. Drinks are very watered down and hardly had any taste of alcohol. My husband fell over on the stairs leading up to our room from the second pool hurting his back informed reception and Thomas Cook rep not asked to complete accident form. On a separate occasion requested a plaster from reception and was told they had none! Made rep aware of concerns and he said he had dealt with them but the hotel told us they hadn't. Kids club is hotel run so does not meet English standards, children are allows to wonder in and out unchecked. Kids club is in a dark room with no lighting and a severe lack of natural light. My children went once and was told to lay down and had a BUCKET of water thrown over them. In the uk this would have been child abuse. If it was made fun using water pistols it would have been more acceptable to cool them down but a bucket of freezing water is totally UNACCEPTABLE. Entertainment was so poor it was laughable. The only night we did enjoy was the drag night. Requested to be moved hotels and was offered the Best Tenerife hotel for a further £500 euros, told Thomas Cook this was not acceptable and if they couldn't arranged another hotel to get me flights home. On Monday I contacted TC again to no avail although they said they were working on it. Tuesday was the last straw when the COCKROACH fell and I requested flights home and eventually on Wednesday they found us another hotel. I do not understand how this hotel is even in the TC brochure. The TC rep informed us we were not the only ones complaining and I can see from trip advisor this is true. We changed hotel but this really lost is a day of our holiday and children had to make new friends. Hotel we moved to was lovely and very child orientated. If you have young Children do not go!More
