Playa Olid

When it comes to location, Playa Olid gets a solid A-plus - it's close to the beach and Siam Park waterpark. Families are well catered for, too, thanks to a child-friendly pool, spacious apartments, and buffet restaurant offering takeaway options.

Playa Olid is set in a lively corner of town with a range of bars, shops, and restaurants on its doorstep. And Tenerife’s biggest waterpark, Siam Park, is only a 5-minute drive down the road.

The beach is close, too – its curved, golden sands are less than a 10-minute stroll from the hotel, and it’s popular with both families and the surfing crowd.

Back at the hotel, there’s a pool, sunloungers, and palm trees dotted around the edge, plus its own bar. A couple of floors up, an extra sunbathing terrace with a Jacuzzi® overlooks the pool. Plus, children get their own half-moon-shaped paddling zone.

The apartments are big and bright, come with a terrace or balcony, and have fully-furnished kitchens. There’s also a buffet restaurant, where the chefs grill steak to order and pack up lunch-time picnics for guests.

Good hotel.

I was travelling with 4 other friends, and we had booked 2 apartments, self catering. When we arrived, there was no sign of our booking & apparently we weren't the first party that day to have this issue. The reception staff, could not have been more helpful. Monica and her co-worker that day (sorry, we didn't get her name) soon found a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom appt (important for 5 females!) and upgraded us to half board as they did not have the 2 appts that we booked through the agent. We stayed in 1109, which was at the front of the hotel, but we did not get too much noise from the main road. On our level, was the sunbathing area, and so we were able to hop over our balcony to the beds!! One of the bedrooms was en-suite, and the kitchen/diner was spacious. The room was not cleaned 2 of the days we were there, but we had been told about the days and so not an issue. Foodwise, the buffet provided a good selection every day. Breakfast was the usual hot foods, along with fresh omlettes, if requested and cold meats/cheeses etc. Dinner always had a variety of meat selections, a grill cooking a fresh steak (not just beef), fish, salads etc. It was probably the best hotel buffet food I've had, which caters for AI. We did not sit by the pool, due to the sunbathing area outside our appt, which had steps down to the pool. However, I would say in the height of summer, it must be murder getting sunbeds, as the pools were quite small. All in all, we were more than happy with the hotel, and think that this was enhanced by the helpfulness of the reception staff when we fist arrived.More

Great little hotel

Whilst leaving a review for another hotel in costa adeje we just returned from I realised I never left a review for Playa Olid where we stayed last year.... Its a great little hotel and puts some of 4 star hotels in the area to shame! We were in a renovated room which was fab! Great space, modern furniture, big screen TV and spacious bathroom with massive worktop and good shower! Very friendly staff and super entertainment team. Pools are not that big but clean and back pool is always quiet ( no activities there so great for chilling) Bar snacks are great - hot dogs and burgers are great if you don't want to get dressed for lunch and just want to stay by the pool. Slushies for the kids - usually have to pay extra for these but in this hotel there were all inclusive... My only criticism would be lack of sun beds, we were there in October and it was ok but I can imagine it gets very busy during summer... Rooms facing main road will be noisy - try to get a room in the "green" block facing back pool - nice and quiet there... Food ok - nothing fancy, you usual all inclusive.. 15 min walk to the beach and many shops / restaurants near by. We will definitely be returning!More

Very disappointed with holiday choice!!

We recently booked a weeks' holiday in these 3* apartments for the October half term. We were a little hesitant about the booking due to some of the reviews but we went ahead anyway. We had booked an all inclusive package but when we arrived late on the Saturday evening, due to a delay with the flight, we had missed the evening meal time and nothing was available for us to eat there. We ended up going to a supermarket across the road for some bread and cheese. From the write ups the apartments had fairly recently been upgraded which was still evident. Ours was a one bedroom apartment with a bathroom, living area with limited kitchen facilities, a sofa bed, small table and chairs and a balcony. The bedroom wasn't that big and what made it worse was that it faced onto the main road which was extremely noisy all day and through the night. There is no air conditioning in the apartments and when we were there I don't think that the temperature dropped much below 20 degrees during the night. Because the rooms were so hot we had to have the window open in the bedroom, which incidentally had vertical bars on it and so it felt a bit like a prison. But because of this the traffic and people noise outside was terrible. We didn't keep the door open onto the balcony as our daughter didn't feel safe in the lounge area on her own. We spent two very uncomfortable nights there with not a lot of sleep. We asked about hiring fans on the Sunday but we were told that the 'department' dealing with them weren't available until the Monday!! Most of the communal areas inside the hotel were clean and pleasant. The food in the restaurant was adequate with a number of choices of dishes. The hotel was very busy and noisy with families - probably due to it being half term. We didn't use the pool areas as they looked shabby and quite cramped for space and sun beds. We normally book 4* hotels but this time we booked this 3*. There is a huge difference in quality and service between the two ratings. Before the end of the first day we enquired about moving and upgrading to another hotel which we did on the second day - this time a 4*! I'm sorry but it's a thumbs down from us!!More

We stayed at Playa Olid for 1 week from Friday 03 October - Friday 10 October 2014. We stayed in an apartment that overlooked Pool 2. The apartment itself was very clean and tidy, and the maids did a good job at cleaning. No valuable items were touched, just tidied up. It had no air con, but we didn't expect it from a 3 star place. We stayed in a superior apartment with brown being the main colour. The master bedroom was what we expected, except that the bed is just two single beds pushed together. The bathroom, was good size, no window though. The main living area, was a good size, and you could get BBC1, BBC2, ITV, ITV2, ITV4 on the TV, so there was always something to watch. We did not use the kitchen, as we were All Inclusive. The restaurant was very hit and miss at dinner time. It does look like a school canteen, but again, it is a 3 star place. Most of the selection at dinner was very poor, including desserts, as in, there was a variety, but not all was nice. We only had 2 dinners that we enjoyed. We ate out 3 or 4 nights. A couple of nights, the dinner was excellent. We only had lunch once in the restaurant, which was decent. The breakfasts were the same every morning, with sausage, bacon, beans, pastries, cooked meats etc. The drinks were from dispensers, and the orange juice was like very watered down cordial. With the toaster, you either had to slow it down to snails pace, or risk standing there for ages, putting your toast through several times. Onto the pool. The pool itself was fairly clean, but the sun bed area was not. We saw the maids simply taking pool water and splashing it around and calling it clean. The water itself had a oily-plasticy taste to it, and I didn't go in again. Usually for lunch we had the food at the bar at pool 2, which consisted of burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, chips, etc. All cheap, below average quality. When we wanted drinks, they were served in little plastic cups, and the alcohol was watered down, you could have several cups, and still be fairly sober. We never experienced the pool entertainment or night entertainment, so I can't comment on them, but I imagine they were average, seeing as how I never heard anyone raving about them. Overall, I would not recommend this place to stay at. The only good thing it has going for it is that the apartments are decent and kept fairly tidy. If you do come here do not expect any frills. You will not get any.More

We booked online and were very pleased with the accommodation we got. The staff are excellent, helpful and polite. The room was checked and towels changed every2 days Drinks were very expensive as we were not all inclusive so didn't drink there when there's plenty to choose from outside. I think they should give themselves more credit as we found there was a changing room and showers we could use after we vacated the room. Some information in the rooms would help customers make best use of what's thereMore
