Playa Olid

Loading

When it comes to location, Playa Olid gets a solid A-plus - it's close to the beach and Siam Park waterpark. Families are well catered for, too, thanks to a child-friendly pool, spacious apartments, and buffet restaurant offering takeaway options.

Playa Olid is set in a lively corner of town with a range of bars, shops, and restaurants on its doorstep. And Tenerife’s biggest waterpark, Siam Park, is only a 5-minute drive down the road.

The beach is close, too – its curved, golden sands are less than a 10-minute stroll from the hotel, and it’s popular with both families and the surfing crowd.

Back at the hotel, there’s a pool, sunloungers, and palm trees dotted around the edge, plus its own bar. A couple of floors up, an extra sunbathing terrace with a Jacuzzi® overlooks the pool. Plus, children get their own half-moon-shaped paddling zone.

The apartments are big and bright, come with a terrace or balcony, and have fully-furnished kitchens. There’s also a buffet restaurant, where the chefs grill steak to order and pack up lunch-time picnics for guests.

Terrible hotel / fab location

Hotel review Terrible hotel / fab location Me and my partner stayed here for 2 weeks on all inclusive (at the end of August) personally we just couldn't wait to get out of there, we certainly wouldn't go back to that hotel EVER!! (Location great though) (Please read for your own good) ((Hotel guests)) During our stay this hotel was full of Rude (nightmare) people, they swore, argued with each other and hotel staff, they give dirty looks, hung around in big groups, the kids just ran around the hotel all day and night (on their own) They were very loud and very intimidating, the adults just drank beer all day and night (gave off an incredibly bad atmosphere) One of them actually got thrown out of the hotel for the remainder of his stay in tenerife. We had people banging on our bedroom window in the middle of the night waking us up (this happened several times) We saw men urinating in plant pots around the hotel, people shouting from balconies late at night. The noise at night was just ridiculous, I honestly didn't sleep for the whole 2 weeks I was there. Maybe we just went at the wrong time I don't know but I sure as hell won't ever be returning to find out. there were also new arrivals every day instead of the normal once a week or two weekly, you just can't get used to people because they come and go constantly, every day brought a new person and we we're just worried about who would turn up next. ((Hotel room)) - dodgy electrics - electrics blew my hair dryer up :-( - damaged roof - no air con - no lock on balcony door - clean with no bugs (at all) ((Food)) The food isn't bad to be honest, the food was good BUT it was just repetitive. ((Pool)) - full of lilos, balls and water pistols - to small for the amount of guests they have - kids and adults diving, cannon balling in to the pool - kids splashing people - kids unattended - wasn't very clean ((Staff)) - the reception staff were rude, when we checked out they just said right that's it after we gave them our door key they didn't even ask us how our holiday was or anything (probably for the best) - the waiters and waitresses were all lovely and extremely hard working - staff didn't challenge bad behaviour When we told our rep what we thought of the hotel guess what he said!? He said yeah I know it's not good is it, I don't even like working here my self!! (Yet Thompson's still sent us here) shocking!! ((Location costa adeje)) (FAB) The location was perfect we were 5 minutes away from the beach, shops and restaurants and my word there were plenty to choose from. Every direction you walked in just unearthed more shops and restaurants, it was brill. There was a wide range of different nationality restaurants to choose from Indian, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, McDonald's, Burger Kings and many many more. We ate out every night because we just couldn't resist trying all the different restaurants. The beach was gorgeous, we spent most of our time there. The entertainment at night (in costa adeje) wasn't very good to be honest so we spent most of our nights in the fun club on the sea front (near the crazy golf course) It had family fortune / music quizzes on all the time hosted by a super fun and lovely guy, We even watched a Freddie mercury tribute there (which was fantastic by the way) Highly recommend that place. Theres lots of excursions to choose from, we choose loro parque which is a fantastic trip to the zoo where they perform fantastic sea lion, dolphin and whale shows. We also went on the freebird boat trip which is a 3 hour long journey, it takes you out to sea where you will see the wales and dolphins in the wild (it's a beautiful experience) good price too! 30 euros each (bargain) especially when they provided entertainment on there, free alcohol / soft drinks bad sandwiches :-) The staff were fantastic on that boat. I would recommend getting a taxi to Los Americas for 6 euros (that's where all the good shops are) SOO.... Overall a terrible holiday (while in the hotel) Great holiday (when out of the hotel) I'll let you decide for your self, everyone's different, I just hope your stay here is better than mine. Ps. Watch out for the lucky lucky men (they are a pain in the bum / there's loads of them)More

Coleybab31,

Brilliant!!

Family of 4 2 adults, 2 year old & 6 month old. We had a super time here. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. The rooms were spacious and looked smart. We were all inclusive. The food was great for all of us. A few fresh food options were even cooked in front of you. The entertainment team were excellent as were the shows at night. The pools and hotel were all very clean and we'll kept and it was a great location for everything including a few excellent beaches. The only downside was no air conditioning. We rented a unit at reception it was €110 for 2 weeks am €20 deposit. It was worth every penny. If you search before you go you might get it cheaper via another company. The next bar down rented fans for €15 for 2 weeks but we just wanted to be sure the baby was cool. We will hopefully come back here and would recommend it to everyone. ThanksMore

Lovely Hotel - Exceeded Our Expectations

After reading some of the negative reviews prior to staying at the hotel we were very nervous but this is a lovely little hotel! It's important to remember that it is only 3* so don't expect The Ritz. The Lobby Bar & Entertainment Room were lovely, the lobby is very large, open & cool and the entertainment was good (the nights we stayed in for it). Lots of complaints about long queues and only 2 drinks a time, we never had to queue for more than 5/10mins and it's a 2 drink max at any inclusive hotels I've ever stayed at so it's what we expected. The restaurant was clean with lots of places to sit the food was lovely, lots of choice and fresh meat & fish grilled in front of you both at lunch & dinner. The pools were good we mainly stayed around pool 1 always sun beds available and bar open all day. I believe we were very lucky with our room we stayed in 2102 which is just around the corner from pool 1 on the ground floor, quiet area, fairly private with bushes at the front of the terrace, a refurbished room which was in the shade so nice & cool which meant the ceiling fan alone was enough to keep the room at a comfortable temp for us. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We did not take part in much but there were lots of activities going on throughout the day at pool2. The negatives for us are quite small ones.... Wifi was very poor but you can use the computers & internet at the supermarket across the street for €0.80 for half hour should you need to. The only bar open during the day was the pool bar so had to walk past the pool & through sun beds to get to it. There were some families who were a little loud & annoying but the hotel can't help who checks in there can they! The hotel was in a good location a short walk to the bars, shops, restaurants & beach however we found the nightlife to be a bit rubbish, there was lots and lots of places to go but all were empty! Would highly recommend Harley's American style bar though, good music and even better cocktails! Excursions - book on the street! We saved around €70 on the 3 we went on booking through a rep on the street for a company called VRT rather than the holiday company at the hotel. We went to Loro Parque & Siam Park both fantastic days out! Loro Parque especially, the Whale & Dolphin shows are amazing! We also visited the volcano Teide and went up the cable car. Pricey but absolutely worth it the views are incredible. We would return to the hotel if it was in another location, we had a lovely week but didn't fall in love with the resort and probably won't return to the Costa Adeje/Playa de las Amercias area again. Rebekah-Louise1,

Acceptable, but not the best 3*

I dont want to give the impression that you will be disappointed but reviews do not always help. This is a large complex and it looks like they are bringing it up to date. Not the best welcome introduction from the less than helpful reception. There are lots of rooms and lots of levels, hence lots of stairs and small lifts. These lifts appear not to go all the way up. Our room looked like something from Ikea ! Some others were more traditional, basic spanish yellow and wood furniture. A little concered that not all rooms have a fan, no A/C is availlable.Overall our room scored 8/10. The complex has 2 small pools and the pool bars get 7/10. The pools however get 6/10 due to size and a less than modern feel. Some people forget their manners while away, and I must remember not be too judgemental. So what do we have to eat in the school canteen (not restaurant) a wide range of food. Nice to see children running around while eating. Overall it just doesn't create the best atmosphere and I have taken into account it's a 3* hotel. So here I am pushed into giving it 7/10, based on the reasonable food and the attentive staff. I did fill in a feedback slip, after a week and it gave me and my partner an opportunity to point out some observations. I hope I will feel better after 14 days here, because I've settled in now. Its in a good location with all shops and bars in a short stroll down hill. SO OVERALL 7/10.WE WILL NOT HURRY BACK.More

Lovely Place!

We stayed here for a week at the end of August school holidays. A mix of ages from 8 to 52. Staff were generally polite and helpful, pools are cool but not cold so perfect for hot days! Food was hot and plentiful, we have several fussy eaters yet they always found something they liked. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner plus burgers, hot dogs, salad, toasties and ice poles from the 2nd pool bar several hours per day. Drinks were good, ask for extra alcohol to be added to the cocktails ;) plenty of sun loungers and a 10 minute walk to the beach. Exchange money in one of the shops toward the beach for a much better exchange rate. PS3 is €1 for 15 mins, computer/internet €2 for 30 mins and pool is €1 per game - we found all very useful. Supermarket opposite open until midnight, another 24hr supermarket out the front turn left. Next door to that is "The Pub" great for watching football matches or a change of scenery as reasonable prices and free pool! Plus they're happy to have the kids there until close. Evening entertainment at Olid was the usual. We visited Aqua Park - great day especially if you have younger kids too, additional €100 pp to get in with dolphins and learn to train them etc. Expensive but worth every penny! Overall we loved our holiday, the only niggle was lack of kids activities in the day. AND BEWARE there is NO AIRCON and the apartment gets very hot. €30 for a fan or €90 for air con unit, we chose 2 fans and they worked enough for our needs. Your electricity will only stay on with card inserted and cleaners remove any left in so a fan is probably your best choice! The apartments, food etc in this 3* hotel are on par with many 4* we have stayed in and even better than some, so a great cheap getaway!More
