When it comes to location, Playa Olid gets a solid A-plus - it's close to the beach and Siam Park waterpark. Families are well catered for, too, thanks to a child-friendly pool, spacious apartments, and buffet restaurant offering takeaway options.
Playa Olid is set in a lively corner of town with a range of bars, shops, and restaurants on its doorstep. And Tenerife’s biggest waterpark, Siam Park, is only a 5-minute drive down the road.
The beach is close, too – its curved, golden sands are less than a 10-minute stroll from the hotel, and it’s popular with both families and the surfing crowd.
Back at the hotel, there’s a pool, sunloungers, and palm trees dotted around the edge, plus its own bar. A couple of floors up, an extra sunbathing terrace with a Jacuzzi® overlooks the pool. Plus, children get their own half-moon-shaped paddling zone.
The apartments are big and bright, come with a terrace or balcony, and have fully-furnished kitchens. There’s also a buffet restaurant, where the chefs grill steak to order.
The one-bedroom apartment is smart and stylish. The chocolate coloured theme runs throughout giving it a fresh, modern feel. It sleeps up to three adults and one child with twin beds and an extra sofa-bed in the lounge with a flatscreen TV. Outside, you have your own balcony.
Went for a week with children to these apartments which were clean and spacious, however that is the best that can be said for the accommodation. The drinks were watered down and left an unpleasant taste in our mouths. The food was of poor quality and bizarre tasting - most of which was spat out by both adults and children alike. Brussels sprouts in April? - and my children eat fresh Brussels in season - with stale carrots. It seemed to be a selection of left overs served up from the meal before and very little fresh. The desserts were thick with peculiar cream filling and the same each night with a different thin jelly covering. Ice cream in pots were the only edible option. Lots of quantity and looked lovely but the experience of meal times were disappointing. We spent money eating out in local restaurants which shows that good tasty food could be produced. The evening entertainment was poor and the bird show especially was distressing to see as the eagle kept trying to fly off.. The handler allowed the eagle to be photographed for nearly 2 hours afterwards. Sunbeds were reserved early with towels and yet some were not used until the afternoon. The children's club was poor and despite asking the staff to include our small children they were unable to join in as the older children dominated the group.

First Family Holiday Abroad
We had an amazing first experience of an all inclusive holiday. Our room was very clean, we would come back in the evening to fresh towels, beds made (even kids PJ's folded) and the room was well equipped. Although we were all-inclusive, we still had use of a fridge (needed to keep bottled water cool) and a kettle (for a cuppa first thing). We had a one bed apartment which was spacious, we stayed on the sofa bed which was as comfortable as sofa beds go and the kids used the bedroom which could be a little noisy when people were returning to their apartments, but kids too shattered to notice. Our room overlooked Pool 2. Pool 1 is noisy as there is music and activities for the children going on during the day, but it does quieten down late afternoon and closes altogether about 8pm, More irritating than anything was the putting of towels on the sunbeds around the pool by people as soon at the area was opened, there is a note saying that management will remove them, but this is not enforced). The food was excellent and plentiful, with choices to cater for all palates, and the staff ensured we never had a dirty cup/plate at our table, they were friendly and helpful. One downside to our all-inclusive was that if we went out for the day, which we did most days as our holiday included unlimited access to Siam Park, and we did a couple of day trips, the hotel does not provide packed lunches so it meant missing lunch altogether, which was not a problem for us adults, but children need lunch, and ended up buying snacks (next time we will consider half board). Wifi was pretty non-existent, but we didn't go on holiday to spend our time of facebook! Overall, we were pretty impressed with Playa olid, and would definitely go again during the Easter Holidays.More

We really enjoyed our stay at Playa Olid. We stayed in an apartment which was clean and welcoming, my daughter had a full size single bed rather than a typical sofa bed. The staff were friendly and the hotel had a relaxed feel to it. The food was lovely with a variety of food being offered at every meal so caters for many appetites. The hotel was even kind enough to provide individually plated cold breakfasts for our departure at 5 o clock in the morning. The swimming pools were lovely and clean and with two pools we found they didn't get overly busy. The hotel offers childrens activities throughout the day, my daughter took part in cooking her own pizza and making clay models. A mini disco was on every evening. the location of the hotel was ideal, only a 5 minute walk to the beach with shops, bars and restaurants all around. A bus stop is right outside the hotel incase you want to travel. I recommend this hotel.More

There were 6 of us altogether 2 adults 4 children (6yrs, 14yrs x2 and 11yrs)
The apartments were lovely, clean and spacious. Watch out for the metal on the pull out bed however, our 14yr old cut herself on it, quite a deep cut. Area was nice and the weather was lovely! bit of a hill but manageable. A shop nearby to get some snacks and drinks etc....you might need it as the food was horrible and of poor quality, plenty of it but tastless and stale and when brussel sprouts and carrots texture is more like bubble gum you end up eating the same stuff eg chips. The kids eat the same thing nearly every night which was ice cream , chips and beans...they spat out (as did we) alot of the food if ventured into something different. The staff were hard working and 3 were very friendly. Restaurant was as some have said like a cafe and noisy. All drinks were watered down and tasted disgusting! Ensure there's toilet roll down stairs in main area toilet as I was left with my 6yr old and another youngster sitting on the toilet while other parent chased staff for toilet roll. Entertainment was awful. We saw birds of prey display, birds were stessed and we walked out and went back to our room. My 14yr old went back down an hour half later and pictures were being taken of the distressed bird...cruel. Siam water park was amazing!!! best part of holiday. Beaches were lush too!
Would def go back to Isand but not hotel.More
