Playa Olid

When it comes to location, Playa Olid gets a solid A-plus - it's close to the beach and Siam Park waterpark. Families are well catered for, too, thanks to a child-friendly pool, spacious apartments, and buffet restaurant offering takeaway options.

Playa Olid is set in a lively corner of town with a range of bars, shops, and restaurants on its doorstep. And Tenerife’s biggest waterpark, Siam Park, is only a 5-minute drive down the road.

The beach is close, too – its curved, golden sands are less than a 10-minute stroll from the hotel, and it’s popular with both families and the surfing crowd.

Back at the hotel, there’s a pool, sunloungers, and palm trees dotted around the edge, plus its own bar. A couple of floors up, an extra sunbathing terrace with a Jacuzzi® overlooks the pool. Plus, children get their own half-moon-shaped paddling zone.

The apartments are big and bright, come with a terrace or balcony, and have fully-furnished kitchens. There’s also a buffet restaurant, where the chefs grill steak to order.

Good value for money

Spent a week having booked a superior room. There is much focus by the ever-present owner on cleanliness, all items being in good order, and friendly efficient staff. Food is as variable as might be expected for all-inclusive but there are good choices of freshly-cooked items, salads and fresh fruits as well as the usual fried and cooked items. Some Spanish dishes also provided eg gazpacho always available. The included wine is light and easy to drink, higher quality can be bought. Coffee and fruit juices less good but under review we understand; we opted for the 5-euro fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast (1/2 litre). We had an updated room so plenty of space. We slept well in good clean beds and had plenty of hot water. It was nice to have the fridge for wine and milk and the TV worked well except when bad weather broke up the signal. Early-morning people did make some noise on stairs and footpaths which could be heard from the bedroom. The main (heated) pool can be noisy with music and children but the (cold) second pool was quieter and pleasant with lots of sun - we overlooked this pool. Loungers were comfortable and in good condition and umbrellas available. WiFi will be installed in the rooms but was available seated near reception. The location overall is good with bus stops outside to places such as La Caleta (fish restaurants) or Cristianos. Good value, we would return. Our notes to the hotel suggested less music around pool and in the restaurant - quiet is good.More

I have been to this hotel twice once on a girls holiday 2013 and a family holiday 2014 and the staff remembered me and made us all welcome both times The food is great and the rooms are clean I would definitely recommend this hotelMore

We booked the playa olid as a last minute get away as just finished exams.. But we did not expect the following. Staff were extremely rude towards me and my cronies throughout the stay. Called my room mate a 'monkey' from playing hide and seek within the hotel, was absolutely disgusted to hear this. Food was at a generous 1/10 which is simply based on the cold meats placed with flies fluttering around my presence. Didn't eat throughout my two week stay which meant the all inclusive was a total disaster! Laughed all the negatives off and tried to get on with the holiday but was hard considering the rudeness and staff if the local attenders. Had a good time overall which was merely due to me and my friends humour and our attitude towards the holiday. One man called tony was the highlight as he was the scene of the hotel and made everyone laugh. Would definitly not recommend this hotel to anyone and would encourage you to dig out an extr couple of 100 to make sure you have a great holiday. If you have already booked.. Good look because you will need it!More

Good apartment

Stayed at the apartments from 13 Feb for one week on All-inc. Very big and clean rooms, staff very friendly and pleasant. No linen or towel changes on Sun and Thurs, alcoholic drinks are very weak and not very nice. The biggest disappointment for us was the food, although we never went hungry I expected much better given the good previous reviews. The dining room was much more of a canteen with school type chairs and all very close together. The weather was lovely during our stay. If you fancy a drink out I would recommend the pub half way down the hill which is a very friendly place. Please remember that the hotel is 3 star and attracts some but not all 3 star guests and finally the rooms facing the road are prone to traffic noise.More

Very pleasant stay!

Just got back last night from a week long stay at playa olid apartments. Apartment was immaculately clean. Had kettle and toaster etc even though all inclusive which was a nice surprise. Nice balcony area and felt spacious throughout. Had hairdryer in bathroom which was a bonus. Food very good, only ate out a few times away from hotel. Hotel staff friendly. Didn't use pool as went to beach nearly every day, but it looked ok. No complaints, had a great time with fab weather!More
