Good times

We have just returned from an 11 night stay at the M&L Apartments. We arrived before lunch and the room was available immediately. There was six of us: 3 adults and 3 children under 9 so we had a 3 bedroom apartment on the Mestral side of the complex. Our apartment was of a generous size and having two bathrooms was perfect. We were located in E block which was right next door to the kids club. The food in the main restaurant was very nice - mixing Spanish with English - and it was plentiful, with the serving staff refilling before anything ran out completely. We also had snacks from the pool snack bar, the children loved the mid-morning burgers and hot dogs, and being able to help themselves to ice creams. The sangria went down a treat too! The animation team were excellent, better than the one at the Menorca Holiday Village. My children especially like Captain Morgan and Tommy Tomster who were super-friendly and made a good team. CM was obviously the choreographer but we loved TT's enthusiastic moves. The pool scene was lively and it suited us to be by the Mestral pool with its daily quizzes for the grown ups and pool jump competitions for the children. At 5, 6 & 8 years old, our children were perfectly catered for. We spent a day on the beautiful beach with some friends and paid 18€ for 2 sun loungers and a parasol. You could walk out far into the sea before it got deep so it was a perfect beach for children. Even the bridge/walkway down the beach was lovely. You could turn left or right out of reception and find some local shops. There are a couple of little supermarkets and shops selling souvenirs and Avarca shoes but you would do better going into Mahon or Cuitadella. We spent a morning in Mahon (slightly nearer than Citadella), the bus was 3.25€ and took approximately 40 minutes. The souvenirs were cheaper here as were the Menorcan shoes and the choice was wide. Santo Tomas is a very small resort so if you looking for a lots of bars, restaurants and shops I wouldn't recommend it, although you could hire a car and explore the island from there. We would return to the Mestral & Lleibeg apartments, it suited as a family but would definitely hire a car for a few days. More

Great hotel with fantastic staff!

Stayed here for 2 weeks in July. It's our 3rd year in a row staying in Mestral and Llebeig apartments. We stayed Mestral side. If you've kids that enjoy getting involved in the day's activities I recommend you stay Mestral side as this is where all the madness takes place. Go Llebeig if your after a quite holiday. Let me start by saying the Tompson team here are fantastic. They go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure you have a great holiday. Luke the head rep was fantastic always on hand to help no matter how small the problem. As were his colleagues Sinead and Jake. They are also fab with the kids my 3 loved them. Especially my 8year old daughter who became rep no. 4 Morgan and Tommy the entertainment reps are just fantastic at what they do. The kids think they are celebrities lol. They have so much time for every kid and know them all by name as well as their parents by the end of the holiday. The pool side games kept the kids entertained most of the day with my kids opting to stay by the pool with them rather than going to kids club. As they would miss pooling jumping in Competition. My 5year old hasn't as much confidence in the water but no child if ever left out so he go to be the judge instead. Adult games included the daily quiz and waterpolo. We didn't really use kids club but the couple of times my 8year old did go she loved it. Especially the chocolate party. Be warned they get chocolate everywhere but the kids love it. So wear old clothes. Kids can go to 1 session a day lasting 2 hours. I heard people complaining about this but really your on holiday with your kid why would you want to ship them off to kids club all day. Yes it great for them to get a break from the sun even for mum and dad to get a couple of hours to them selfs but I think 1 session is more then enough. The evening entertainment was really good. I personally enjoyed the game shows. Usually meant quests getting up and making an egit of them selfs but good craic with loads of audience participation. A great way of meeting new people too. We met said they'd never been on a holiday were everyone is so friendly. We seen the Disney show which was great for kids and as much as I seen people saying it was rubbish it was by far the busiest night of the entertainment. The Chinese acrobats where fab! Team day was the best. From the pool side games through the day were they do reps versus quests a afternoon of games great fun for all. And a great way of getting no to know the reps too. Continuing in the the evening for more games and finished with the team show. Kids love this and you can see all the reps put there all into this. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment pool side which I couldn't fault. Plenty of space 2 bathrooms 1 with a bath/shower and 1 with a walk in shower. The hair dryers are rubbish I suggest you bring one with you. We only used Mestral pool bar staff there again are great. Mainly having either Aidran or Tony working these guys brilliant. Rarely having to que for drinks they keep the bar area clean all day. The pool it's self could be doing with an up grade it's getting a bit worn but Llebeig pool was renovated in the last year hopefully Mestral will be next. Some of the subbeds are broken and uncomfortable and my advice on the parasols is if it's windy at all don't put them up. We seen many a parasol fly across the pool during our stay. We never got up for sunbed till around 8.30 /9.00. The pool area is cleaned before this so not much point going out any eariler. And having a pool side apartment I can say they cleaned the pool area everyday. The only day I found it difficulty to get a bad was Thursday's. With Wednesday being the biggest arrival day most seem to spend the next day by the pool. Every other day there was always empty beds dotted around the pool with plenty of room to move them about if a family came later in the day. The all inclusive is very typical of all inclusive having went all inclusive at other hotels in the past its certainly wasn't the worst I've ever had. Yes you do have to que for food most meal time but there was organisation. And the ques went quick enough. And they're was always tables free. As for the birds they are nature. It's not like management are standing out side inviting them in. There is always staff about cleaning and are more then willing to clean any bird pooh found on tables or Chairs. And they have definitely decreased since our first year here and it's oblivious to see the hotel has measures in place to try and prevent them entering the restaurant A lot of people complaining on here about the price paid does not match the standards. Yes I paid a crazy price plus extra to upgrade to all inclusive on arrival but just because I paid a lot doesn't change the fact that it a 3* rating. It's certainly not a bad 3*. If expecting 4*+ then that's what you need to book! Thanks Morgan Tommy Luke Sinead and Jake for a great holiday xx More

Sinead B,

Great for young children

We have just returned from a two week stay and we had a brilliant time. I have read some of the negative comments mainly about the birds and the dining room but feel they are a bit unfair. In the two weeks we were there we never witnessed birds swooping in stealing food! Yes they are around but they are not a problem. With regard to the restaurant, yes sometimes we had to queue for a bit and maybe this could be organised better, however for an all inclusive buffet the food is really very good. Plenty of choice, very fresh and beautifully presented. The resort is lovely. I can't believe some people have complained there is not enough to do in the resort. Surely you know that this is a quiet family resort when you book. The beach is beautiful and the whole area has a laid back vibe. Our 2 bedroom apartment was fantastic, very spacious and very well equipped. There is so much to do for the children. My six year old son was in heaven with all the activities on offer. The Mestral pool has lots of activities taking place but if you fancy something quieter, the Llebeig pool is stunning. A massive thanks to the whole team of reps who work so very hard. A special mention to Tommy and Morgan who kept us thoroughly entertained and the very charming head rep Luke. The kids reps are also fantastic and my son was desperate to go to kids club which surprised me as usually he doesn't want to go, but he loved this one. We had a fantastic family holiday and can't wait to return.More

Mark L,

Disappointing for the money

We stayed for 10 days and although we enjoyed the resort, the dining experience is a big part of our holiday and this just wasn't up to scratch. Not to mention the fact it was next to a loud booming stage in the evenings. We couldn't even hear ourselves moan. Fine if you like loud music but there was no atmosphere and as for the queue which others have mentioned here - it was awful. Dirty chairs, tables wobbling, even the occasional dirty plate or glass. But the worst bit was the queue. I felt totally harassed as no trays and two children to get food for. It was a school canteen at best even though some of the food tasted very nice - you couldn't go back for more as the queue was way too depressing to do a second time around! Also, the orange juice didn't taste good, the coffee was poor and the water was often lukewarm. Staff hardly spoke and no wonder; they were totally overwhelmed by the chaos. Birds flying on to tables as soon as they are vacated and leaving droppings. Everyone staying has kids and the hotel is packing in more as we only had option to book one room apartment which I didn't think anything of at the time, but when we got here it soon became clear that every apartment had either four or six people in, so totally at capacity. No couples at all. Basically it was all British families so very busy and noisy. Don't even hope to get a sun bed! Mini golf and soft play is extra so as you walk to dinner your kids may well want to have a play but every night will soon add up. People here state they aren't fussy but expect more - well so they should. It cost us thousands to be here half board and we expect better. Will avoid ThomasCook next year if this is their plan post Egypt resort closures. It's a real shame as their flights and cabin crew were fab, good transfers etc too. More

Poor all inclusive

I travelled with my husband & 3 children (7,6&3) for one week. The best part was the spacious, clean 3 bed apartment. Great having two bathrooms & the all important bath for young children! Beware the slippery floor though if little wet feet are walking around - we had a couple of bumps. Huge safe balcony & a big airer to get the towels & cossies dry. The resort is lovely & quiet - very clean, if a little lacking in charm. The beach was a highlight - soft sand & crystal clear water. I like completely calm water & there were small waves at times but that was just my preference. Three restaurants spaced out along the front, all 3 of which served great food - something we shouldn't have had to do on an all inclusive holiday! ...which brings me to the food. I'm not a snob & understand that you shouldn't expect things to be identical to the uk, but I do expect not to have to queue as if in a school canteen & fight birds off my plate. People here have stated that we should expect birds as it's an outdoor restaurant but I've eaten in many open air restaurants on many holidays & this is the first time I've ever had to remember to take wet wipes down to dinner to clean the chairs & tables with prior to eating. The food was set out in one long line which caused long hold ups. It would have been better to have different food stations, as in other all inclusives I've been too. The food was adequate at best. Bowls were often absent at breakfast time, leading to us using coffee cups for the kids' cereal. Tea & coffee only available at breakfast, not lunch or dinner. We didn't go hungry but we didn't look forward to mealtimes & decided to eat out a few times instead. The poolside snacks were a great hit with the children though. The pools were OK, the splash park perfect for our 3 year old. The drinks were fine - I don't mind the local versions of the branded drinks anyway. No complaints about the free ice creams either. The kids club was a hit - very professional & good health & safety. My three absolutely loved the chocolate party (small extra cost - they need to wear old clothes). The entertainment in the evening was alright. My daughter loved the party dances & the Disney show (it was actually laughably awful but she's 6)! There was very little for the adults entertainment-wise. A few quizzes but that was it. There is no doubt that the ents team worked tirelessly though & they were brilliant with the kids. The entertainment was over by 10. The inflatables & soft play was an additional charge but I knew about this from Trip Advisor before booking so factored this into the budget. My three loved them. It felt a very safe resort & parents seemed to look out for each others' children which was nice. In summary, if we'd gone self catering I wouldn't have felt so disappointed. As an all inclusive it's poor value. We still had a good time but we wouldn't go back. More
