Great holiday experience for the family

Booked a late holiday in early October based on previous reviews and took our young kids (19mths and 3yrs) for a week - our first as a family. It was everything we'd hoped for and more besides. After a very early flight over and with tired kids we were glad for the direct transfer taking only 35 minutes to the resort. The 2-bed apartment was very modern, clean and surprisingly spacious compared to previous experiences aboard. We soon settled in and enjoyed what the complex had to offer. We'd opted for the all inclusive deal, so that we didn't have to bother buying food for fussy children and cooking after a long day out and about. We were glad we'd made that decision as the daily buffets in the Las Dunas restaurant offered plenty of choice and daily variety. Even better no upset tummies - just full ones! Poolside and evening entertainment was provided by the reps Scotty Boy and Rachel, while the kid's reps did a great job keeping our 3-year old busy. Our family spent most of the time in and out of the pools, with the Splash pool and slides proving a big hit for the kids. The beach is close by and worth trying out, although sadly while we were there the sea was choppy and on a few days infested with small jellyfish that sting (like a wasp sting). The atmosphere around the complex was very friendly with a mixture of families and mature couples. There were a few people we met that had been going there for years which was reassuring to hear. Overall a great holiday, good value for money and our kids loved their first holiday aboard. A tough act to follow for next year...More

Tall_Latte42,

WOW !!!!!!!!!

Arrived back home just yesterday and it has a lot goods and few minor bads. The bads- food was fairly repetitive and we had a few arguments with the manager over the serious lack of kids choice, end of season maybe but the apartments still had guest with kiddies so you must cater for both and as we were all inclusive we had no choice but to ask for more kiddies choice and the following days the kiddies menu was back on. Not for older kids like over 14-15 as there is simply not much to do, it's more a young family complex and resort as the resort is a GEM but tiny. Few ants but not as bad as people say and it's everyone's fault ants are there as they are attracted by dropped food !!!! Stop moaning about them as it's our fault for dropping food. Wasps are an issue, and the birds well as cute as they are and they do come close to you as there used to being fed. That's the bads!!! The goods - scotty boy and Rachel are amazing with everyone and our son Charlie loved the dancing with Rachel as did our other kids, it does seem they are given limited funds to entertain but they have made the best of it and we loved them, also kiddies club Laura and Ashleigh are very good with kiddies. The complex is a wonderful gem and very safe as is the resort. The beach is out of this world as is the trek to son bou , if you do the walk just to the left of the beach at santo tomas up the first few steps is a entrance(a hole in the ground with steps) to a old war bunker on the left hand side, PLEASE go in and admire the views. The pools are cold but when the sun is out you don't notice it, the sea is warm but a lot of jellyfish sadly. The apartments are spacious and clean and as reviews say, fully equipped with IRON and board, the balconies are huge and very safe for toddlers as they have been doubled fenced off. I would definitely recommend these apartments to others with young kiddies. We had a glorious 9 days out of 11 of sun. Very few shops in resort but equipped for every day needs but when we left yesterday they were closing for the winter. The markets are good but don't go to haggle as they don't and go in the shops first as sometimes cheaper than the market !!!!!! All in all a wonderful complex and resort, safe, friendly and kiddies always get a high five from tony at the bar and juan in the restaurant. Hire a car as there is some wonderful beaches and Cala galdana is a gem but again a lot of jellyfish. Oh DO NOT buy the WIFI , it is very hit and miss and I had a refund, keep the little slip tho as if urs doesn't work you need that to get a refund. Met some really nice people on holiday and would return but not with older kids as they get bored. Hope you find this useful. Happy holiday'sMore

Great for the price

Returned from a week stay on 15th October 2014 with our almost 3 year old daughter. We booked last minute and we were so impressed with everything we are already planning our return visit! The airport and flight experiences were great, no queues all very smoothly run, and very friendly staff (first choice). When we arrived we were so pleasantly surprised! The reception staff were so lovely, our room was very spacious (block f mestral), 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and living space. Balcony HUGE! The pools were fantastic, especially the splash pool for our little one. Beach was one of the best i have seen - even better than some in the Caribbean. The food was great - we had planned to eat off site before arriving as thought the all inclusive would be repetitive, but we didn't once because there was so much variety - providing you don't want to eat chicken and chips every night (which they did cater for!). All meals were fantastic and no stomach problems at all. Drinks were great, and on tap! I was a little put off by some reviews saying the restaurant was across the road, don't worry as the road is so quiet and we thought that it was nice to have the restaurant separate - it was a 3 minutes walk from our room. It was fairly quiet but the entertainment staff still put in their best and our daughter love it. We were so lucky with the weather - 28oC!! Negatives - only because nowhere is perfect: a few flies in restaurant, no air con in restaurant (part of which is partially outside though), hear people complaining of ants but I only saw a few in common areas, slightly off putting smell in one bathroom, plastic cups only in pool bar (no wine glasses) restaurant had proper glasses but not pint glasses, be prepared to spend 25 euros for the bouncy castles/soft play (6 days entry) as getting a 3 year old past every night to dinner wasn't worth the hassle!! Seriously though these are such minor niggles and didn't spoil our holiday in any way at all. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing break with very clean and comfortable accommodation with great kids pools and really good food book now. Wouldn't necessarily recommend for young couples or families with teenagers - it really is very quiet (in a nice way though). Don't be put off by the negative reviews, this place is a really gem. diane h,

Good holiday for a young family.

Visited these apartments at the end of September 2014, with my husband, mother in law and daughter aged 15 months old. First family holiday abroad. Was very pleasantly surprised with the apartments. Great location for the beach, with two main pools and a splash zone for the young ones also. Didn't actually go swimming in the pools however, as far too cold - not heated- but used the splash zone instead. The rooms were of good size and clean - only down side was there seemed to be a lot of flies flying about everywhere! The only hidden extra with the rooms - which no one tells you about is the additional payment each night if you require a travel cot. 4 euro a night! Food variety was also good - with a wide choice every evening. We ate out a few times for a change , but you get what you pay for with the food at these apartments. Would go back here again, but every where is very quite, but that may have been the time of year we went - out of season. Many young families so great for the kids. A ''lets get loud'' disco every evening also which my daughter just loved. Adult evening entertainment is very poor - but i guess all parents are done in come 9.30pm. Lots for the children to enjoy - with crazy golf/ soft play/ bouncy castles / and trampolines etc. so thumbs up to that.More

The Wood Family

This our 3rd time at these apartments and once again had a wonderful time We have just returned home from an 11 night all inclusive stay The resort is closing down for the end of the season and seemed extra quiet, but that was not a problem for us as we go here to have a rest The friendliness of the manger and all the staff made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived The food as usual was very good and varied each day We also had the most incredible weather, with only a few storms and some rain, but most of the time, the sun was shining We are already talking about another visit next year and both of us were sad to go homeMore
