A great hotel in a superb spot

We stayed here for a week with out 12 year old daughter in July just as the kids had finished school so I was expecting that it would be full of kids and families and that there would be limited sunbeds around the pool but I was wrong! The hotel is very quiet and there was always sunloungers available at the pool. A couple of evenings we had to wait for staff to create us a table in the dining room but it was never any trouble. The room, although small (with 3 beds in it) was clean comfortable and we had a sea view which quite honestly I'm not sure you could put a price on!! The food was excellent for an all inclusive, even for our very fussy daughter. I have been to far, far worse! The drinks were also great and a good selection. The hotel is a bit on the quiet side with minimal entertainment, but actually that's what we wanted and it's only a few steps to livelier bars if you want them. We went to the beach almost everyday and ordered packed lunch from the hotel which was great. We would definitely go back.More

Quiet

My husband and I took our nine year old grandson here for a week, the hotel is lovely as are the views of the bay, the food was always good with plenty of choice and the staff were excellent. The hotel guests were mainly Spanish I think there was only one other English child staying apart from the families that are staying in the village and use the hotel pool however our grandson managed to make friends and loved the pool. It was so refreshing to go to the pool at any time of day and not find towels reserving sun beds we put this down to the fact that the guests were mainly Spanish. If you were visiting with young children the steps down to the beach may be a bit of a challenge as there are over a hundred. The village never felt busy but had a nice atmosphere. We went into Mahon by local bus and had an hour on a glass bottom boatMore

Hotel Playa Azul

Just returned from this Hotel,it'sdown as a 3star but it is better than a lot of 4star hotels we have stayed in,the staff right down to the cleaners are great, the food and drink are excellent. Also the location is great,we booked a sea view room and the view was fantastic. The pools are lovely and there was never a problem getting sun loungers even after we had been for a walk after scoffing a great breakfast. Not for people who are looking for hotels with round the clock entertainment, but if you want a lovely hotel with great staff, food, drink and great views give it a try.Only one thing ,I think they need a free Wi Fi area,I know people who would not use hotels for this reason. We will be back Jack, GretaMore

JackGreta,

Lovely Holiday

Just returned from a week staying at Playa Azul and it was a wonderful holiday. We were given one of the bungalows outside which meant there was plenty of room for just the two of us. Pool was very nice and overlooked the sea which made for a lovely view. There's a quite a few steps down to the beach which is fine on the way down but can be a little tiring on the way back up, especially in the heat. The sea was lovely though, with no pebbles or rocks! Every hotel holiday I've been on previously always had the guest who felt the need to put towels out to claim sun loungers ridiculously early. This definitely wasn't the case here and even in mid August there were always plenty of free spaces and parasols all day. We were all inclusive and the food was nice. Typical hotel food but good quality and a good choice. Drinks were available at the bar from 11am-11pm, although not all alcoholic drinks were included in the all inclusive. On the day of our arrival my friend had an accident which meant she needed a trip to the medical centre. The staff were incredibly helpful, called a doctor out for us and made sure she was ok. All in all a lovely trip, though I will point out that Menorca is quite a windy island.More

Fern R,

Great

We went for the all inclusive deal (a first for us) and were really glad we did: the food was fantastic. Rooms are functional and clean. Staff incredibly helpful. Pool excellent. Cala'n Porter is pretty, peaceful but not too quiet. Only downside of the holiday, which was nothing to do with the hotel, was a totally over priced coach trip to a local fiesta (booked at the local Spa) which dumped us a good two and half hours before anything happened! The bus trip to the capital (bus stop outside the hotel) was much better!More
