Playa Azul

This hillside hotel has a pool with a view, plus it’s just a 3-minute walk to Cala’n Porter beach.

Playa Azul offers sweeping views of the coastline, whether you’re poolside or on the bar’s al fresco terrace. Plenty of the rooms have sea views and there are bungalows you can stay in, too.

The hotel has its own buffet restaurant, and Cala’n Porter beach and town centre are both just 3 minutes away on foot.

Menorcan Happy Days

My partner and I went to Playa Azul for 7 nights to celebrate my retirement and I could not have picked a better place. From the moment we arrived the staff were excellent, from our greeting in reception to the people who tended to all our other needs, one minute serving in the dining room the next working in the Blubar or the pool area and always with a smile and friendly disposition, they could not do enough for us. All public areas of the hotel were kept clean and tidy, the dining room was buffet style and the food both varied and of an excellent standard. There was ample space around the 3 different sized pools with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Our room was a twin with ample space for our clothes etc. with a large bathroom and shower and all kept very clean by unobtrusive staff. The position of the hotel is on a quiet road, overlooking the sea and a beautiful cove. Calan Porter has bars, restaurants, shopping, car hire in fact all that we needed for our stay and in a very relaxed atmosphere. Many thanks to all that contributed to what proved to be an outstanding holiday.More

Great 3-star hotel: exceptionally friendly in a beautiful location.

We had a really lovely time at this peaceful & friendly hotel. It's very clean, particularly the two pools. We are a family with a 3-year-old boy and the staff was so good with him. There is a small playground at the hotel and a better one at the beach. There's also another one a 5-minute walk away. Some of the negative reviews here miss the fact that this is a 3-star hotel and these reviewers seem to have expectations based on a more expensive 4 or 5 star hotel. I've stayed at expensive hotels (through work) and they can be so cold and unfriendly, even if they do have all the facilties and gormet food. The Playa Azul is exceptional in its class and I've rarely stayed at such a warm and friendly hotel. The food is good (we found lunch better than dinner) and we were able to change our half-board to lunch for the whole stay with just a quick word at reception. The manager has her desk located in the lobby opposite the reception and this was such a strong signal that any complaint will be taken seriously. It's also signals a self confidence in the quality of the hotel. Negatives: You do have to pay for wifi, the safe and pool towels, but this is what keeps the overall cost down - I'm happy with that. There are internet cafes nearby and shops selling cheap beach towels. And then there are the 180 steps to the beach, but it's a wonderful beach with some cafes and you can take a longer walk down via the road if you want. The steps keep it to a ten-minute walk. But the negatives don't warrant a mention really, it's a lovely, clean hotel in a great location. You can also catch a bus from right outside the hotel to the city of Mahon (20 mins) and it's a really good day out, with a huge harbour and lots of eating and shopping, aswell as the beautiful old town. We had a double room with a seaview over the beach, and watching the sunset from our balcony with a cold beer (from a nearby shop) was just perfect.More

1st Visit to Menorca

This was our 1st visit to the beautiful island of Menorca - and we were definitely not disappointed. Short distance to travel from the UK to such a lovely island. We paid additional to have a sea view and it was well worth it (Room 114). Stunning views overlooking the bay. Only a couple of small babies in the hotel, no children at all - lovely and peaceful! Hotel was very clean, food was good, would agree with some reports that it was like a canteen, but we've been to worse, and the food was always of a good standard with plenty of choice. Saying this however, there were occasions when it wasn't very warm! We would most definitely return to the island and again to this hotel.More

Lovely place to stay

My wife and I had a four night break at the Playa Azul and we have no complaints. The food was excellent and our room was neat and clean and was kept that way by the very friendly staff. The resort has plenty going on at nights but is free from any noisy youths. We would recommend the Playa Azul and just wished we could have stayed longerMore
