Playa Azul

This hillside hotel has a pool with a view, plus it’s just a 3-minute walk to Cala’n Porter beach.

Playa Azul offers sweeping views of the coastline, whether you’re poolside or on the bar’s al fresco terrace. Plenty of the rooms have sea views and there are bungalows you can stay in, too.

The hotel has its own buffet restaurant, and Cala’n Porter beach and town centre are both just 3 minutes away on foot.

If Carlsberg operated hotels this is the model they would follow.

Very well managed budget style hotel which is well deserving of the Thomson / TUI rating of 3 star plus or the local rating of 3 star superior classification. We found every member of staff to be friendly, highly efficient and a credit to Set Hotels and their culture of exceptional service to their guests. Food was typical Mediterranean with a strong Menorcan theme and frequently exceeded what you would expect to find in a regional 4 star hotel. Rooms were functional although a little bland with the bare minimum of furniture, no pictures / paintings hung and every wall being painted a glaring white and lacking in colour. Bathrooms were modern, spacious, well appointed and had a very powerful and efficient walk in shower ( top marks there ). Housekeeping standards could have been better, in general the public areas were acceptable although our room and the corridor on our floor were not quite to the same standard. Views from this hotel are exceptional and the overall facilities, one adult plus a seperate childrens swimmimg pool along with public computer access in the lobby, a cosy terrace style bar and super efficient and welcoming restaurant allow this hotel to meet even the most demanding of expectations. Not too many screaming children here either so with, excellent food, great staff and a good choice of beverages we would cerainly recommend this hotel and its's all inclusive option.More

Great location.

We stayed at the Playa Azul in October. It was our first time in Menorca so we didn't know what to expect. We arrived late morning after a 2+ hour flight. We were all inclusive with First Choice and were met at Mahon airport by the holiday rep and directed to our transfer minibus. After a 15mins journey we arrived in Cale'n Porter. Check in was very efficient and we were allocated our sea view room on the 3rd floor. What a view! The room was clean & tidy with plenty of storage plus a good size balcony. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower and plenty of places to put ones toiletries. There was air conditioning throughout our stay.Towels could be changed everyday unless you opted to be environmentally friendly and use them again. The same thing for the sheets. The housekeeping staff do a good job too. Due to near end of season the hotel was quiet but spotless. The bar offered a good range of drinks in the 'all inclusive' package. Although we did not use the pool it appeared very clean and the surrounding poolside area was kept very tidy. The restaurant was at the poolside, with an uncovered walk from the hotel building (OK when dry, but not so good, as we found out when it rained!) Unfortunately there was no 'atmosphere' in the restaurant. It was a no frills self service buffet, and although the staff were attentive they were not chatty, likewise the guests. The food selection was good with a great choice but what a shame it was never hot. My travelling companion works in catering, and knows how hot food can be kept hot. The hotel is in a great location. There is a bus stop opposite, with frequent buses to Mahon, from where one can easily get a bus all over the Island. The fares are very reasonable too. We also did a local Island coach trip. At 27euro this was well worth it. Many thanks Raphael! All in all, for our 1st time in Menorca, this was a good Hotel choice. It was just a bit disappointing that the restaurant fell a little short.More

Amazing holiday 26/9/14 to 3/10/14

we have just had a lovely week at this amazing hotel. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.the food in the restaurant was very good (I am a very fussy eater).the rooms were basic but clean.the pool area was fantastic. The only downside was the 190 odd steps down to the beach and the 190 odd steps back up again!!!! All in all a lovely holiday, excellent value for money and considering returning next year.More

Wonderful holiday in Menorca

We stayed in Playa Azul for one week at the end of August/start of September. It was our first time in Menorca, as well as first time trying all inclusive, and it definitely won't be our last. Cala en porter resort was beautiful and very quiet...just what we wanted in a beach holiday. Menorca is not somewhere you go for a lively holiday! The hotel overlooked the beautiful bay with crystal clear blue water, but there are quite a few steep steps to access it. It is quite a task, especially coming back up! The hotel itself was clean, tidy and simple in décor. The rooms were the same, and we had a great view from ours. The bathrooms in particular all looked brand new. The food proved very good...there was something for everybody at the buffet...the only small downside was that tea and coffee were not available in the dining area. The pool area was lovely, with great views, and plenty of sun loungers for everyone. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a low key relaxing holiday in Menorca...we're actually thinking of going back for two weeks next year. Well worth the money!More

Ten wonderful days in Cala'n Porter, Minorca

Oct 2014. Just returned from a lovely relaxing 10 day holiday in Playa Azul hotel in Cala'n Porter, Minorca. This hotel is spotlessly clean with very friendly staff. Because of late in the season there was no entertainment in or around the hotel but we enjoyed the chats with other holiday makers and quiet evening strolls. We stayed on an All Inclusive basis and found the food plentiful, excellent salad bar with various dressings along with several choices of fish and meat dishes both Spanish and international, plus soup of the day and fresh fruit. We were fortunate to have lovely hot sunny weather average 26 degrees for the duration apart from one storm during a night. The grounds, pools and bar are also immaculately kept. Our room was at the front, third floor with beautiful sea view - lovely to wake up to each morning, no street noise and sun all afternoon till the beautiful sun set every night. The room was really clean with excellent storage and the bathroom had a walk in shower and vanity unit, there are no frills like fridge or tea making facilities but iced water, tea /coffee etc easily available downstairs. There is a lovely safe beach across the road and although there are 190 steps down well worth the effort. All in all we had a great ten days of sun, sea and sand and walks. The bus stop for Mahon is just across the road and once there you can get another bus transfer to other parts of the island - very easy. Although we did not use the car hire services other travellers found the cars and roads excellent. So from UK 1 hour 45 flight plus 15 minute transfers we were unpacking at 10 am. Will certainly return and probably keep this little gem to ourselves.More
