Enjoy a varied selection of international dishes at breakfast and dinner with show cooking and various themed evenings during the week. Just so you know, gentlemen will need to wear full-length trousers to dinner.
Myself and my mother stayed here at the valentin star for one week from the 18th to 25th of october as we leave the hotel closes down for the winter until may.we have had a lovely week a great chill! We chose this hotel for our first visit to menorca as it had very good reviews,we cant find any faults with it neither could fellow guests. The weather has been great very warm every day we reccomend coming away to menorca at this time of year! Although the hotel has been fairly quiet and the resort almost dead this wouldnt put us off coming again late in the season. When you first arrive at the hotel on a sidestreet close to the marina the entrance is small and not very grand looking but a warm welcome awaits from the friendly staff complete with scented damp face towels and a chilled bottle of water. The staff cannot do enough for you they are friendly and
genuine. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need the beds are firm but comfy theres good air con and a ceiling fan.The bathroom with bath and shower inside it,theres a loo, bidet, and sink plus piped in classical music which is a nice touch and you can select different music, the volume and on/off.The balcony all rooms have one,is quite big with table and chairs. The hotel only has ground and first floor so no high balconies to worry about,we paid a small amount extra
to book a pool view room and it makes a big difference! The marina view being the second choice 5he last choice is the street view.It will depend on who you book your holiday as to how much extra you pay for a pool view, one of the guests booked with jet2 holidays and were quoted an extra
£12.00,s per night for pool view but i booked our jet 2 flight separately and the hotel on lowcostholidays we paid £200.00 each for a weeks half board with pool view which i think is good value! We didnt fancy an all inclusive hotel this time as they often get too roudy! The food at the valentin has been fantastic! I can be a bit fussy but not once did i have chips! Theres lots of choice and something for everyone, the meat was especially good there is a buffet and also a chef cooking steaks etc the desserts are great too,we just bought a small bottle of water to have with our meal each night.the breakfasts are very good too the bacon typical spanish variety not that good and theres a different sausage each day.If you need lunch theres the snacks at the outside bar we didnt use it and theres a few bars right outside the hotel entrance. The entertainment was average the singers were good, but there was a fair bit of boring football being showed too.The nearby marina is nice and theres numerous bars and eating places.we didnt visit the local beach we hired a car through Menturka who have an office just round near the supermarket jose there will look after you and prices are cheap, the roads on the island are brill no potholes they put uk roads to shame! Driving here is a joy! Only problems are people on zebra crossings they dont wait they just step out and also there arent many petrol stations!the average price per litre about â¬1.36 but here in the marina near hotel its â¬1.62!!! When its open!!! Our two favourite places we visited are Ciutadella which has history and lovely shops. Also sant tomas on the southcoast is a quiet but very nice beach resort, other good beaches we went to are cala galdana and cala en porter and the best viewing point is at the top of del toro.very few negatives for the valentin hotel the drinks are a little pricey but only compared to local bars as its similar to uk drinks prices â¬4.40 for a pint of beerso thats about £3.50,the swimming pool is a good size and very shallow at one end.All in all a great hotel!we will return! OUR ROOM was 308 upper floor pool view. The hotel would benefit by offering guests pay per use or free computers, the free wifi is good throughout.Roger Clarke Harrogate North yorks.24/10/14More

Stayed 2 weeks in October on HB. Food never more than luke warm so ate out most of the time. One day we travelled and had a late lunch so decided to have dinner in the hotel. The personal card says dinner served until 9.30 pm. Went to the restaurant at 9.15 to meet an angry restaurant manager who told us the restaurant closes in 15 minutes, that's ONE FIVE! I said that's OK we know what we want and it's a buffet anyway. Got some food and sat down, there he is again "The restaurant closes in 6 minutes" he stood over us, we left. He spends his whole time uphimself in his suit and tie and never smiles. All the rest of the staff are fabulous and friendly. Get rid off this idiot, he has no clue about service industries. Good location and very clean hotel.More
Just returned after a relaxing holiday.Food excellent staff very friendly . Over looking a Marina with a bar ,owned by the hotel but outside the main hotel. The safety deposit box at three euro a day a bit over the top.The other problem is you can not take drinks from one bar to another .If you like a drink before your dinner you are not allowed to take it to the restaurant. The bar is only twenty feet from the restaurant .If other people are waiting for a seat in the Marina area I find it embarrassing to sit drinking only wine.I asked the hotel why and they replied its due to the glasses. All glasses are plastic so where was the problem. Apart from this an enjoyable holiday.More

Excellent, good, not so good...and unfair!
I travelled alone, 13th - 20th October, and this is my first ever review about a hotel that I've stayed in.
Excellent: As most people have commented, the hotel is spotless. I personally found the food very good, with numerous choices for breakfast. Dinner had various starters, and also a huge salad range. There were approximately 8-10 choices of main course, which included the live cooking, which I mostly had. A number of previous posts have said that the food was cold. I personally did not find this. However, the plates were occasionally cold, and as we all know, if you put hot food on stone cold plates, it will go cold in a matter of minutes. So I give 9/10.
The Good: My top floor room faced the Cala'n Bosch Marina and the hotel's outside front bar, which normally has live music (closed for the season). Even if it had been open, with the live music, this would not bother me, as I never go to bed early on holiday, and I understand that the music stopped around 11'ish anyway. I had a double bed in a good sized room, which I was very happy with. If you are travelling alone, you still get a double room, unlike some hotels, where you can end up in a phone box! There was a comment from a previous traveller about room 225/227. He is right, do not accept this room. It definitely overlooks the staff entrance/toilets and kitchen delivery area! I originally requested a pool view room, but was told that pool view rooms were an upgrade of about 13 Euros a night...even though the hotel was only 60% full. So I give 8/10.
Not So Good: There have been positive comments about the staff. This is what I found. The cleaning staff were excellent, the restaurant staff were very good. However, the biggest let down for me was the grumpy male bar staff. Especially 'Mr Lovely Jubbly' (so he calls himself) the Head Barman. Even after tipping the male bar staff, they still had a long miserable faces. I don't know why they should treat solo male travellers differently, but when they spoke to some couples and any females that were alone, they appeared quite happy! So I give 6/10.
Unfair: Perhaps it was because it was the end of the season, but unlike previous comments on the entertainment, I found the evening entertainment quite poor. If you took the Bingo and quiz night away, it was left to just a few acts, which to be fair, were reasonable. Because of the grumpy male bar staff, I chose to spend my evenings elswhere, mostly ending up in the 'Shamrock Bar', directly opposite the hotel. This bar has happy, smiley bar staff, and entertainment, by way of a singer called David. He plays an accoustic guitar, that is all. No drums, no bass or electric guitars. THIS MUSIC STOPS AT 11.30 pm everynight. So it would be very unfair for one of the local hotels to make a comment about the music, especially as they have live music outside themselves.More

Upon arrival received small towels to freshen up and also a bottle of water. The receptionist had not many to check in but he said we would have to come back later to purchase a safety deposit key for the safe in our room. I was not happy as usually it is all done upon arrival. So we had to carry our travellers cheques, money, mobile phones around with us for a while. Room was nice but our balcony looked onto a main road. There wasn't much traffic so it didn't really bother us. But the walk along the corridors back to reception and restaurant for meals was another story. For all there were lifts the walk was tiring. My wife struggles with her walking and my knees aren't what they used to be. The corridors weren't straight and the floor uneven. The carpet was green and at times we thought we were on a golf course. No sign of a Jet2 rep in hotel so I felt a bit apprehensive asking to change rooms and the hotel looked full anyway. Our room was 341 so if you are not abled-bodied do not get that room. Hotel facilities excellent, all staff friendly apart from a lady on reception who I thought had a bit of an attitude. Food was fantastic, loads of choice and theme nights. Desserts to die for. Hotel entertainment day and night really great. During the day was exercising in the swimming pool, volley ball and other games and at night mostly tribute acts. The Abba one was fabulous. They are usually outside near the pool but when we were there it rained heavily the last four days so the entertainment was in the hotel bar. But we still had a great time. The swimming pool is beautiful with plenty of sun loungers. Refreshments easy to get throughout the day. They sell gifts in the hotel which are situated in the reception area in glass cases. Some really nice gifts to buy. Good quality. Postcards and stamps can be purchased from reception and there is also a post box near the reception. Hotel is situated close to Marina. Supermarket and shops nearby. Bars and restaurants on Marina. If you want a newspaper they come into the supermarket approximately 10.30am but they sell out quick. There are about 3 to 4 ATM's which was handy. In front of the shops there is a stop and you can get on a small red train it takes you around the resort and also stops at the beach. I think it was 5 Euros each to beach (which wasn't far if you able to walk it), 7 Euros each for full trip around the resort. But we did not think it was worth the money for trip around resort. At the back of shops is a stop which takes you to the next town Ciutadella. It has a Marina but it is downhill to get onto to it. One nice jewellery shop and couple of gift shops. Plenty of places for a bite to eat and a drink. But we were disappointed with it. It is 2 Euros each there and back. You can pay bus driver on way there but coming back you have to purchase a ticket at the ticket kiosk when getting off at Ciutadella. The buses run pretty regular. All in all a wonderful holiday and fantastic hotel.More
