Top Class Hotel in lovely Area
Really good hotel with friendly staff, absolutely spotless in lovely location. Our room did overlook the marina, the food in both the restaurant and the poolside bar is first class with a good choice in both. The restaurant has 3 specialist nights which varies the food. We did say that even though we were half board we might eat out one night, but as the quality is very good I don't think you would get any better. My only criticism is,,, that when I bought a beer into the restaurant I was told, that I shouldn't when asked why he said they have different cost base for each area, I am not interested in there cost base as I have already purchased the drink and would not influence what I would drink in the restaurant. I was also told that I could not take any towels for my wife or friends as they had to collect them themselves, this is a 4 star hotel and it really should not matter how many towels you have! As it happens I was only wishing to pick up one each. Would I come back? Definitely it really is one of the best hotels on the island.More
Main Summer Holiday
A fair sized Hotel for ADULTS only covering a whole block of land with rooms facing the roads and an inner circle of rooms facing the very large pool area. The room we were initially allocated was fine except its aspect. We requested a change of room and were offered 2 different rooms but still with poor views. As the hotel has guests arriving and leaving every day, we were offered a different room the following day, unfortunately for us because it was located on the 1st floor it was an upgraded room at €12.00 per day extra, but the view over the pool and its location was good for us. At every stage of our booking in and leaving was first class and proffessional. The free wifi worked well in the main reception and in the room. The pool area was huge with a large paddling type pool from 2”deep to 30” or so, that merged into an area for water polo games every day led by a very enthusiastic exercise lady and was always well attended by the holiday makers, then there was another deeper area for the swimmers and a large Jaccuzi. A large and pleasant dining room, with 2 outside areas, 1 within the hotel next to the pool and under shade, and another on hotel property with Harbour views. The variety of food offered was 2nd to none and catered for almost every nation, and was self service and a chef serving specials. At all times the staff would fall over backwards to help if you had a query and were very efficient. There were different types of evening entertainment every night with a Bandstand near the pool We were very happy with our holiday accommodation and facilities and would visit this hotel again.More
Second visit to this lovely hotel
We have just returned from our second visit to this hotel booked through Thomson. We asked for a room leading onto the terrace at the end of the bar outside reception as this is where we were last year. There were 20 sunbeds in this area with only 4-6 beds being used each day so plenty of room and no problem with us leaving our things out while we went to the supermarket or back into the room. Loved the snacks that were brought round by the staff who are all very friendly and helpful. Had two bottles of Cava from the hotel, one on arrival and one for my Birthday. There were sweets put in the room each evening along with a little gift. The pool is lovely and warm and you can gently walk in to it. Food was excellent, the restaurant has great views over the marina where we had a lovely evening walk after our meal. Evening entertainment is generally tribute bands/singers. We had a private transfer from the airport in a minibus just for the two of us although we did have to share the return journey with three other couples. Wifi is excellent this year and free, pool towels are provided and can be exchanged as needed, rooms have a fridge where you can keep cans of drinks purchased from the supermarket. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough.More
Our 20th wedding anniversary
We booked with Thomson and were very pleased with the whole A la Carte package. On arriving at the Airport a rep gave us a taxi card and we gave it to the taxi driver and we were at the Hotel about 40 minutes later. At reception we were told we had been upgraded to Junior Suite, which was very nice. Very spacious with a Kingsized bed, and sofa and a comfy chair. The Hotel only has 2 floors and is a rectangle around the pool. We arrived on a Friday and the pool did not look too busy, so next day we got up, put our towels on 2 sunbeds and had breakfast. Staff in the restaurant are really nice and helpful, they had Soya milk thankfully, cooked breakfast looked good, though I don't eat them, there was plenty of fruit and lots of pastries as well. The local supermarket is just a five minute walk and reasonably priced, and they also do Baquettes. When we went back to our room late afternoon there was a half bottle of Cava and some sweets there for us. Later we found out that the Hotel does this. We usually eat at around 8 when we are in holiday, so got ready and went to the restaurant where we found a long queue, so we went back to our room for a while and eventually sat down at about 8.30. After that we ate at 7. Plenty of choice for dinner and they always had a Paella, which is my favourite, so I was OK, each night was a different cuisine as well, which made things more interesting. So, for a couple of days we thought we had found the perfect Hotel. Until, on the Sunday after breakfast we found notices on our sunbeds saying we were not allowed to reserve sunbeds and that any towels reserving sunbeds would be removed. OK, that's fair enough, only on Monday while I was getting Baquettes for lunch my husband saw 2 large men in overalls going around and grabbing towels, books, flip flops and suntan lotion into a bundle and taking them away. When he tried to intervene he was told to go to reception. He did and was told that if we went to our room for lunch our belongings would be taken away, so we should take them with us. If we wanted to swim we should take our belongings to our room and if a bed was available after our swim, you get the picture. We ended up eating our lunches separately, going to breakfast separately and swimming next to our beds so we could keep an eye on things. We found out later that we were now in the high season and the Hotel has 210 rooms, which is at least 420 guest, but they only 150 beds. I think that this pool policy will not survive very long as a lot of people complained and we complained to our Thomson shop as well and on the survey. Cala n Bosch is a lovely small port with lots of restaurants and some pubs, there are not many shops, but there is a us stop not far from the Hotel which will take to other resorts quite cheaply. Would we go back? No. More
Lovely Hotel pity about the location.
The property itself was fine. The rooms were what you would expect in a holiday hotel. The food was ok if not exceptional. The desserts seemed to be the speciality of the house as they were numerous and mostly very tasty. The staff were, in my view, absolutely excellent. Could not fault them at all. My only real grip was with regard to the location. Thomson described it in their brochure as - "overlooking the Marina" - in my view this was stretching things a bit and might more appropriately be described as - "adjacent to the Marina" as very few of the rooms actually had a view of the harbour. The bulk of the rooms overlook roads with very uninspiring views. In conclusion I would say, if you like hustle and bustle with lots of activity, this hotel will suit very well. However, if you like quiet locations I would suggest looking elsewhere.More
