Enjoy a varied selection of international dishes at breakfast and dinner with show cooking and various themed evenings during the week. Just so you know, gentlemen will need to wear full-length trousers to dinner.
Our advice is to read the review entitled "perfect holiday sept 2014". This person has very accurately described this hotel and facilities. However for us there are one or two negatives we would just like to highlight. The food for us was decidedly underwhelming. Not bad but not that good either. Typical self service buffet, cold at times of course, but not very varied for us in comparison to what we have had in other hotels. Tables in the restaurant are TOO CLOSE, therefore sometimes you can't achieve the privacy you want. The pool area is superb but there isn't enough room for the sun beds, and definitely not enough sun beds. We met several people who wanted a sun bed but couldn't get one. A pool view room is a MUST or you could be left overlooking the marina with passing holidaymakers overlooking you. Yes extras are expensive, the whole resort isn't cheap but it's very nice and clean.
Valentin staff were superb in our experience. So would we recommend this hotel, yes. Would we go back (a lot of people do) maybe. But not yet as we like to try other places countries and hotels.

We have just returned from a week in this lovely hotel. I don't want to repeat what everyone else has said, but it is as good as they all say.
The staff without exception were polite, smiley and helpful. We hadn't booked a pool view, but when we saw our original room overlooking the Shamrock bar, my husband wanted to change. I have to say I would have been quite happy with it, there was a partial view of the Marina, and the singer in the Shamrock was very good and always finished by 11.30. We could have had a perfect seat to watch him. However, we did change, and the helpful receptionist (Maria I think) went out of her way to see that we were happy. It cost us to change rooms, but it was nice to be able to look out over the beautiful pool. And I have to say that, being adults only, it was lovely and quiet around the pool, and in the pool there was no splashing and jumping going on.
As already mentioned by others, the entertainment in the hotel was excellent. I have stayed in many hotels and sampled the cringing entertainment provided, and we really enjoyed the shows on offer each night. Our only complaint was the night that "Abba" was on at the same time as "Lennon and McCartney" as I wanted to see them both.
We enjoyed eating our meals facing the Marina, and my only disappointment with dinner was that you could not get just a glass of wine in the restaurant, you had to buy a bottle. I know you could save it until the next night, but we had got to know some lovely people and often joined them for dinner, and if they were buying a drink I didn't want to ask for a bottle of wine! I tried to get one in the bar and take it to the table, but that wasn't allowed.
All in all, a fabulous holiday, everyone we met was so friendly and we made some lovely friends there from all over the country, including Scotland, Bournemouth and Matlock (you know who you are!). We did say we would go back at the same time next year, so I really hope that happens.
Don't hesitate to stay here, it is fabulous.More
We have just returned from a 9 day holiday at the Valentin star. I can do nothing but agree with the many positive comments about the hotel, staff and also its location. From the moment we arrived with the welcome cold towel and water the staff were absolutely excellent. Everyone seemed to be very aware of what they needed to do and carried out their roles in a very professional manner.
The welcome bottle of wine delivered to the room is a very nice touch.
The location of the hotel is perfect giving you the option to walk out into the marina area to visit shops, bars and restaurants as required. The hotel and area around it was very clean and well maintained.
We stayed on a half board package. The food was very good quality and whilst the choice wasn't vast there are plenty of options to give a good variety throughout your stay. We did like the choice of seating areas available in that you can choose a table inside the restaurant, outside on the hotel terrace or sit overlooking the marina. We mainly chose to sit outside looking over the marina which was a more interesting environment.
The rooms were good and I can see what people mean about the traditional look of the furnishings but I thinks that's being a bit critical. The rooms are well appointed with everything you need. There is a kettle, fridge etc. so you are equipped for tea making. We assumed that this is a hard water area as even the products we bought from home like shampoos etc. didn't perform as they do in UK.
I would definitely recommend a pool view room. Ours had a settee. chair etc. but some are smaller than that. Some of the rooms on the outside of the hotel have marina views but you do take more of a gamble on your room location if its not pool view.
Entertainment at the hotel is very good. There are things going on in the day like volley ball and various exercise sessions etc. but its not obtrusive and no pressure to join in if you don't want to. In the evening you are very lucky to have a choice between what's provided inside the hotel and also in the bar area by the marina. We saw some very good acts during our stay.
Just one negative which was so out of character with the rest of the stay we have to mention it. One evening we went for a pre dinner drink in the hotel bar. my wife hadn't finished her water so we took it with us to the restaurant only to have it confiscated by the restaurant manager. I pointed out we had purchased it in the bar but apparently its not allowed to bring the drink into another part of the hotel. We found this embarrassing in front of other guests.
However that shouldn't tarnish anyone's view of the hotel staff who as stated earlier are extremely friendly and willing to help.
We only took one trip out during our stay travelling to Ciutadella via bus. Definitely recommend you do this. Its a short walk to the bus stop catching the 65 at a cost of 1.95 euro. Buses every 30 mins but were every 15 for the return in the middle of the day. Hotel reception will help with any information you need.
All in all a great holiday which has certainly lifted the bar in terms of what we will expect from any future trips we book.More

The good, the bad and the ugly
The staff are lovely. the food is great and the hotel is spotless. The rooms are a good size and the beds are very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location in the centre of the marina and two minutes walk to the beach. Our Thompson rep jules (jewels might have been more apt) was brilliant, very helpful and not trying to ram trips down your throat all the time. Hers was the first welcome meeting that I actually enjoyed and felt like we were leaving a freind behind when we left.
For three night running we had motown acts. When you here the same songs for 3 nights it starts to be a bit wearing. To be fair the lennon and mccartney tribute were good, as were the supremes, but when one act came on and said the were going to sing a song by Gladis knight and the pups, you just knew it was not going to be a good night. I also do not wish to go to spain to be entertained by bingo or quizzes. Another annoying thing was the hotel advertised the spurs v liverpool game to be shown in the bar, and some selfish scot had got them to switch over to the celtic game. A dozen or so of us complained but nothing was done so we ended up watching it in the bar across the road, while the sad scot watched his game on his own.
Brits abroad! Towels on sunbeds. Putting extra sunbeds between theirs and other peoples to gain more space. Queuing for brealfast and dinner twenty minutes before the resturant opened.
Snuffling food at breakfast, so they didn't have to buy lunch. They never fail to embarrass me!
Expect to pay 4.50 euros for a pint at the bar. 7.50 to about 16 euros for a lunch at the pool bar about the same price as the rest of the resort.
Buy one baguette between two of you as they are massive and come with a side order of french fries or salad. The club sandwhich at the pool bar was amazing, three slices of toast and packed with lettuce, tomatoes, chicken breast bacon and topped with a fried egg, for 7.50 euros.
Get the bus into Ciutadella as it only cost 1.95 euros each, and they are spotless and air conditioned.
This is a great hotel with good food and lovely staff. Would definitely go back again.More
We chose the Valentin Star after reading so many helpful and positive reviews on TripAdvisor so it seems only fair that we take the time to share our thoughts with other prospective guests after our stay. Put simply; the Valentin Star is one of the most welcoming and best places you could chose to stay! Everything is spotlessly clean and remains so during the whole holiday; the staff truly do seem to enjoy their job and clearly want you to have an amazing time and the facilities themselves are just perfect. Cala'n Bosch is a fab destination if you are after sun and relaxation and the Valentin Star sets that vibe perfectly. Lovely clean and large pool; plenty of sun loungers; excellent choice of food for breakfast and dinner; happy and efficient staff; water polo and aerobics to join in with and fun entertainment in the evening. So; if you are undecided on where to stay in Menorca then go for it and chose the Valentin Star!More
