Villa Binire

in Binibeca , Menorca

Saturday arrivals
A pair of spacious villas set in peaceful gardens with all the traditional trimmings and 21st century gadgets you could want.
Sitting side-by-side, this duo of pretty villas couldn’t be in a better spot. Everything’s on the doorstep, from the beach to the resort centre, which has shops, bars and restaurants. And although they’re pretty much in the thick of things, both the Binire and the Binido are set in a serene residential area, largely made up of holiday villas. So peace and quiet come as standard.

Each villa comes with lovely gardens and a private pool flanked by sun beds and parasols. You’ll also find a barbeque and a terrace with a built-in table. Both are pretty secluded, too, so you can relax without being overlooked. The Binire is the most tucked away, though, as it’s hemmed by high hedges.

Inside, the properties are light and fresh looking and don’t scrimp on the space. Whitewashed walls give them a cool, airy feel. While the rustic beamed ceilings and wooden furnishings lend a traditional Spanish vibe. Design-wise, they’re open-plan with a fully fitted kitchen and a lounge and dining area. Plus each villa has three bedrooms.

And to make life easy, both villas are kitted out with mod cons like a washing machine, dishwasher and DVD player. After all, on holiday you want to be doing as little as possible.

Your guide to Binibeca, Menorca

"If your picture of Menorca is ravishing sandy bays, gleaming whitewashed villas and dazzling blue waters, Binibeca scores on every count."

If all you want is a good quality resort and sandy beach reminiscent of childhood seaside holidays, Binibeca will send little quivers of pleasure through you.
In Menorca’s south-east, this collection of white-painted contemporary villas sprinkles itself over rolling green hills above a lovely stretch of coast. A little below, a collection of sandy coves cling to the shore, shimmering in the hot Menorcan sun.
The biggest, serving as Binibeca’s main beach, sets the tone. As in the others, fine, warm sands drift into blue-green seas, whilst the cobalt blue Mediterranean glitters beyond and watersports tempt people onto the waves. Settle here and you’ll have one extra bonus - a palm-roofed beach bar overlooking the water. If you dream of enjoying authentic tapas and chilled wine to the sound of gently rippling waves, you won’t want for anything more.
When you’re not here or by your villa poolside, there’s a surprising amount to satisfy your roaming instincts. For a spot of retail therapy, take the convenient tourist train to next-door Binibeca Vell, a charming recreation of a typical Menorcan village, whose cobbled walkways are inlaid with boutiques, shops and eateries. Step from the main beach into Cala Torret, a traffic-free development bristling with shops and waterfront restaurants. And mooch around Binibeca, where plentiful supermarkets supply those holiday provisions, and an array of Spanish and international restaurants open their doors at sunset.
Pencil in some days to see the other side of Menorca. Immerse yourself in the delights of nearby Mahon, soak up the mellow, historic Cuidadela and call in on picturebook villages and elegant inland towns – you’ll return home sold on this enigmatic, tranquil island.
