There’s Thomson Gold entertainment every night at this hotel, though you’re just a short walk from the bars and restaurants.
This place is on a hill, looking out over the sandy bay. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the bars and restaurants. And it’s no further to the beach, yet the hotel runs a courtesy bus there.
There’s a good-sized pool with a roomy sun terrace. For meals, there’s a buffet restaurant, and you also get a choice of bars. As for entertainment, you can see professional acts, cabaret and live music by the pool.

3 Star Gold Hotel
This Gold hotel is not a 4 Star and just about passes as a 3 Star. The first thing a must write is that the hotel is at the top of a very very steep hill and it is very steep from the beach and has lots and lots of steps. The hotel does offer a minibus transfer to the beach free of charge but on the day I arrived it was not operating. When checking in the first think I was asked for was the bedroom tax. This tax was imposed in 2016 by the local government, so just be aware of this when you book in. The rooms are reasonable with a free fridge (mine did not work on arrival). The safe cost 3.95 Euros a day in May 2017. The shower is over the bath. If you stay all inclusive all local drinks are included from 10am until midnight, all premium drinks will incur a cost. Only food served in the restaurant is included, if you wish for a snack or ice cream you will have to pay extra. The restaurant is a great place to eat with great views and is run by Epi. Good quality good food and variety and free local wine, cava, beer or water served to your table. One or two waiters should really try and smile. The entertainment is up to Gold standard and the entertainment reps were really good. The evening waiters were very good and served your drinks to your table. I have never seen so many Thomson reps in one hotel and apart from the welcome meeting, which was not the best, they were always around and very helpful. I did not use the poolside loungers but did use the poolside bar, as this was the only one open during the day. The daytime entertainment is all based around the pool area with a quiz at 4pm. People did reserve the loungers all day with a towel which is not right. The front of the hotel faces east so the sea view rooms get the morning sun but this means the inland view gets it all afternoon on there balconies. Arenal Castell is a very quite resort with just a few bars and even fewer shops. It is great if you like steep hills but go somewhere else on the island if you cannot manage hills. This hotel is an old hotel and would benefit from some renovations, threadbare carpets in the corridors are not a good look.More
Clean, friendly but suited to the older guest
We visited this May (3 Mums aged between 32-38) for a long weekend to relax and escape. The transfers were smooth and organised, the hotel was clean and efficient, the room for 3 was cozy but fine. We had a sea view which was glorious but didn't get the evening sun, the pool view rooms get the best sun for most of the day. The pool was chilly but refreshing and if you could bag one of the Balinese beds (there are more hidden at the top!) then lucky you! We found that most of the sunbeds that got the earlier sun were 'taken' very early, and by taken I mean a towel placed at 6am by people who then went off to breakfast/back to bed and emerged at some point later in the day, tad annoying. The TUI staff were very well suited to their majority clientele, the over 60s. Both of them were a bit daft, a bit cheesy, very up beat and seemed popular, especially during their twice daily quizzes (inc 'Guess the Sound'!!) and the daily tournament of bean bag throwing/boules/'Smite'. The entertainment was of a similar vein, suited to an older more static audience. Some talented singers but cheesy performances. All the staff we met were very sweet and attentive, especially Paco who was a delight! The cleaners of the rooms worked all day and did a great job (not just a cursory clean, they folded our pajamas!!). The food was catered for the English guests. We were desperate for some local, authentic Spanish food but were a little disappointed. It was nice and there was plenty of choice but the grill section was always very busy and the wait was always too long for us! We went all inc which was lovely but the cocktails included were not freshly made and a bit rubbish and the wine was not great so we ended up paying for decent drinks - the Mojitos were fantastic!!! It was lovely to have beer and Sangria by the pool though. The beach, which is a short walk downhill (mainly steps) is beautiful. Crystal clear water and plenty of sunbeds. Very beautiful. We wished we'd spent more time there rather than the hotel pool. All in all, we probably wouldn't go back. Not because of the hotel, or staff or facilities, just because I don't think we were the right kind of guests! Menorca is stunning though and with being only 2 hrs flight away am considering visiting with my young children.More
Ideal choice ....
All started well as the transfer was so swiftly, which is always an added bonus. Check in was efficient and despite our late-ish arrival we were still able to dine. As noted by others, the restaurant food quality and service were of a very high standard. Most unusually for an all-inclusive hotel bottled water, wine and beer (all branded) were on offer in the restaurant. Theme nights every evening resulted in an extensive array of dishes of a very high standard. All staff from house-keeping to entertainment and hotel reps are to be complimented on their high standards of efficiency and friendliness. The resort is lovely but as stated in brochure not necessarily suitable for people with mobility issues. There is a courtesy bus to the beach but we were lucky enough to be able to explore this beautiful part of the island on foot. It's a truly lovely beach area for anyone who can make the effort. Overall this holiday proved to be of a very high standard indeed and we would recommend this adult only hotel to all. If we had one issue it would be the slight inconvenience of the all-inclusive package (except lunch) ending at midday on day of departure. However there are a couple of excellent bars nearby or indeed you can purchase items from the hotel.More
A relaxing holiday with FANTASTIC staff and entertainment!
We have just returned from the Fiesta hotel Castell Playa and I just couldn't wait to write a review. This hotel really exceeded our expectations. Rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean,we even had a jacuzzi bath to relax in after a day walking around this stunning part of the island of Minorca. The hotel facilities are fab a good size pool, plenty of sunbeds and the waiters/waitresses (a special mention to Paco- the guy is a machine and literally runs around all day tending to the guests,my glass was never empty with him around!) are so attentive that in our whole stay I only had to visit the bar once as everything was bought to us at the poolside. Our days by the pool were spent in pure relaxation which meant we had lots of energy in the evening for dancing and dance we did-to the amazing vocals and insane guitar skills of the resident duo 'Cover Flow'. Sarah and Damon are fantastic performers, the hard work they put in to their music sets is evident for all to see when you watch them perform. Their music was so varied, which was fab as our party was made up of members ageing from 21 to 67. The TUI reps at this hotel Steph and Cori were equally as fantastic, really friendly and approachable and always on hand to answer any questions we had about the resort. Food is served in the restaurant opposite the main bar with buffet style dining. I have experienced lots of all inclusive dining around the world and was particularly impressed with this hotel. Even the fussiest of eaters will find something to enjoy! My only niggles with the hotel is firstly that their is no snack bar during the day for all inclusive guests meaning you have to pay for any ice creams etc you wish to enjoy and that safes are provided in the rooms but for an additional charge of around â¬4 per day not something I have experienced on any previous all inclusive holidays. I think this is something the hotel should consider. That being said, I would definitely return the fiesta is a great hotel made perfect by all the outstanding staff, from the waiters & cleaners to the resident duo and TUI reps. A huge well done and thank you from us! More
