Fiesta Hotel Castell Playa

Loading

There’s Thomson Gold entertainment every night at this hotel, though you’re just a short walk from the bars and restaurants.

This place is on a hill, looking out over the sandy bay. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the bars and restaurants. And it’s no further to the beach, yet the hotel runs a courtesy bus there.

There’s a good-sized pool with a roomy sun terrace. For meals, there’s a buffet restaurant, and you also get a choice of bars. As for entertainment, you can see professional acts, cabaret and live music by the pool.

Not the usual gold standard

Like many of the other reviewer this hotel is ok, BUT its not up to the usual standard we have come to expect at Gold hotels. Despite carefully looking at the ratings given by other visitors we found the location most disappointing. There was almost nothing in close proximity to this hotel except the beach, a few restaurants, (which if you are all inclusive are just about redundant) a spar shop and a "holiday souvenir shop". To tip the balance even further these were at the bottom of either a steep slope or lots of steps....a real killer on the way back. We thought it was just around the hotel that there was little to do or see, so we tried the little train which does stop outside the hotel, but no, no quaint little villages where we could explore shops etc or experience the usual promenade atmosphere we are so familiar with abroad. Should have realised this on the journey from the airport , nothing much to see but fields and scrub land. Yes the scenery is beautiful and the weather fantastic but we were expecting more. Rooms as many have said are clean but very tired. Food is OK but not the Gold standard we have come to recognise. For example we were particularly looking forward to the seafood night, whilst it did happen we really didn't feel that crabsticks should be part of this! Its great if all you want to do is lie on a sunbed and bake,(as many did) but if you want more than this, you should think again.More

Mixed feelings

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel but we had mixed feelings about it , the resort does not have a lot to do there and to get to the beach it is quite a steep climb back up to the hotel, but take it steady and it is ok . The hotel is quite clean but we felt the rooms were a bit tired especially the bathroom, the chome had worn off the taps and the shower and it looked a bit tatty. We upgraded to a sea view it was well worth it the view is really good overlooking the bay. The restaurant was good , we were AI , the food was varied most days with a different theme on the evening , although it was busy the staff were always there to help you find a table and they worked hard keeping the tables clear . The evening entertainment was very good , with a resident duo on early evening and the main act on at 10.00pm. Only downside was the entertainment being outside some nights it was a cold wind blowing so we had to put our jumpers on A big plus for this hotel were their staff, everyone worked hard they were all friendly and smiling and the waiters were amazing keeping us supplied with drinks hot or cold all day long they never stopped working . To finish the location is a bit on the quite side , but the hotel keep you well looked after all day , it does get busy around the pool area and you are very close when on the sunbeds but there is always somewhere to sit in a quite area . i would recommend going to see the Somni horse show, also worth the upgrade price .More

Good Holiday

Just returned from a two week holiday at the Fiesta Hotel which is located on a hill and had great views overlooking the bay. Only a 10 minute walk to the beach, down a steep hill and quite a few steps, the hotel does provide a courtesy bus to and fro the beach at certain times of the day. The beach is one of the best on the island but beware of Jelly fish, several people were stung whilst we were there so we spent most of the time in the hotel pool. Wifi is free and is only available in the Reception area, but service can be spasmodic and very slow! Rooms were clean and comfortable,we even had a spa in the bath! Clean towels were provided every day. Food was good with plenty of choice, don't understand why they have a 2 tier system for all inclusive, no snacks or branded drinks unless you paid extra for the premium service! Entertainment was very good, resident duo Mellow Yellow kept us dancing 'til midnight. Also had a few tribute acts who were brilliant and a couple of good comedians from the UK. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the waiters worked really hard and such long hours, it was amazing how they remembered what everybody was drinking! Thomson reps and entertainment team were always around and were very helpful. Only went on one organised trip which was good. Used the local bus service a few times to go to Mahon, cost 2.60 Euro. If you want a quiet holiday and just want to chill out then this would be ok.More

its a gem,......

stayed at castell playa from 6th august for 2weeks, from arriving to departing, we had an absolute fantastic holiday. our seaview room, 102, spotless, maid service every day, towels changed daily, beds really comfy, and the view from the balcony could,nt have been better. we were all inclusive, meals very good with plenty of choice. staff from all departments are really friendly, helpful, and a credit to the hotel, entertainment was from the resident duo, mellow yellow, also other acts later in the night, but back to the resident duo, amy and ludo, aka mellow yellow, for us they were the icing on the cake, without question they made our holiday very special.a final mention to thomsons entertainment team thanks for the laughs, nina and kirsty were really helpful,, thank you so much, we are now in the process of booking again for next year, thanks to everyone, phil n Katie, xxMore
