Fiesta Hotel Castell Playa

There’s Thomson Gold entertainment every night at this hotel, though you’re just a short walk from the bars and restaurants.

This place is on a hill, looking out over the sandy bay. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the bars and restaurants. And it’s no further to the beach, yet the hotel runs a courtesy bus there.

There’s a good-sized pool with a roomy sun terrace. For meals, there’s a buffet restaurant, and you also get a choice of bars. As for entertainment, you can see professional acts, cabaret and live music by the pool.

A room with a stunning view!

We stayed for 11 nights in July on an all inclusive basis, on an upper floor room, (as requested), which was quiet with a stunning view of the bay. Generally the staff were very helpful especially those on Main Reception and Elvi, the Restaurant Manager, who always remained calm and efficient even when the restaurant was bursting at the seams! For those with mobility issues, you should be aware that the hotel is at the top of a steep incline and there are lots of steps and steep slopes for the short journey down to the beautiful bay and beach. (The hotel does run a shuttle bus at limited times but we didn't use it). The hotel is only five minutes walk from the bus stop to Mahon and a couple of other destinations which are well worth visiting and Main Reception will give you a bus timetable if requested. The Bus Station at Mahon has various routes going all over the island and we found the bus service very efficient. There are a couple of supermarkets and a few bars and restaurants in Arenal Castell, but it is generally very quiet and laid back, which we loved. Cleanliness in this hotel was excellent and the food always good and plentiful.,the restaurant was usually very busy and tables are very close together, window tables are the best, but these are taken up very quickly. The evening entertainment was not always to our taste but there were a couple of brilliant acts and the entertainment team work so very hard. On the evenings the weather was cool and windy the shows were put on inside on the spacious first floor bar area, instead of the pool area, which we actually preferred and the bar service was delivered by waiting staff, which was really good as you do not need to queue for drinks. Wi-Fi is only available around the Reception area unless you upgrade at a cost, but in general it was very unreliable and was off more than it was on, but it didn't worry us too much as you can always go to a local bar and use theirs. We also enjoyed the fact that it was an adults only hotel. All in all a very enjoyable stay for the money we paid.More

What can I say clean room attentive staff never too busy to stop and say hello. The bar /restaurant staff are so great they look after you and often remember what you drink .they also bring you drinks around the poolside and the evening tables so no queueing at the bar .juanjo and kuki looked after our every need .food is great a good variety and lots of local ingredients too . entertainment was great the staff work so hard thank you Sam and Sophie you made our evenings. They have an in house duo which is great followed by some quizzes which are fun and full of comedy value then a main act .the main act was great every night except one when Ben Lee performed .he is a great opera singer however sings very little and drones on with very offensive attempts at comedy .but it's one night and there are lovely bars around you can go to if you wanted to miss this . The area is beautiful very hilly which we loved as good to walk off the holiday treats cafe last paella do lovely food that is low priced if you want a meal out and their coffee is amazing .beaches to die for .the harbour is also worth visiting I have children and got given the opportunity to go away without then and coming to this adult only hotel was a relaxing and rejuvenating experience many thanksMore

Just returned from a ten night stay here. Fantastic hotel. Staff hardworking, food outstanding with themed nights. Many choices for me as a vegetarian. Entertainment brilliant, especially Tank Sherman the stand up comedian, Sam and Sophie and cover flow. I haven't laughed so much. Rooms clean and no complaints. Wonderful holiday, minor gripes, wifi not good and hotel on a hill, although brochure did warn of that. Quiet area too so a trip to Mahon is a must for a day out, cheap bus ride at 3 euros.More

Teresa M,

Enjoyable holiday

Stayed here with husband from 1st August for a week. Lovely resort with beautiful beach and a few shops and restaurants. Hotel doesn't look anything special from the outside but is lovely inside, the staff are very friendly, efficient and helpful. Hotel is on top of a hill so great views but you pay for this with the steep walk back from the beach! Adult only hotel so no screaming children, bliss! There is a courtesy bus to the beach and back but we didn't use it, needed the exercise after eating the wonderful food here! We had a room on the top floor overlooking the pool area, the balcony got the sun in the afternoon and evening but it also overlooked the entertainment area which was really loud even with the doors closed, if you go to bed before midnight get a sea view room! The room was good and kept very clean, bathroom was modern and clean. Restaurant was never too busy when we went, always managed to get a table by the window overlooking the bay, plenty of food choices and well cooked, we went all inclusive so had lunch as well as free drinks all day. The soft drinks were branded eg. Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Fanta orange and lemon, Sprite and Minute Maid fruit juices. Local beer and wine was included but you had to pay extra if you wanted branded beers and branded spirits. We enjoyed watching the 'sad' people sitting on sun beds from 6:30am so they could have the same beds in the same spot every day, we had a couple of really windy days while we were there and they still sat determinedly on 'their' beds with towels wrapped around them, hilarious! Everybody had a letter from management asking people not to reserve sun beds but obviously lots of people ignored this, we didn't witness staff removing any towels from reserved sun beds either. We always managed to get a sunbed whatever time of day we went down, usually late morning or early afternoon, although the pool area was quite cramped with sun beds too close together. Waiters came round taking drink orders and were very efficient. We hired a car one day and visited Mahon, Son Bou beach and Mount Toro, the highest point on the island with fantastic views, well worth a visit. We also spent some time on the beautiful beach and swam in the warm, clear sea, lots of fish to see! We would definitely return to Menorca and would stay at this hotel again.More

Overall good

Pros of the hotel: - excellent food and drink - great service (Never seen anyone work as hard as Paco!) - brilliant entertainment (true variety) - sea views Cons: - pool area - sun beds too cramped together and pool not clean enough - all inclusive ends at midday on day of departure More
