There’s Thomson Gold entertainment every night at this hotel, though you’re just a short walk from the bars and restaurants.
This place is on a hill, looking out over the sandy bay. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the bars and restaurants. And it’s no further to the beach, yet the hotel runs a courtesy bus there.
There’s a good-sized pool with a roomy sun terrace. For meals, there’s a buffet restaurant, and you also get a choice of bars. As for entertainment, you can see professional acts, cabaret and live music by the pool.
There's a good-size swimming pool here that comes complete with a wraparound sun terrace. Sunloungers, parasols and daybeds are lined up along either side. You can borrow pool towels if you pay a deposit.
Double rooms sleep three and come with a double bed and an extra bed. Décor is contemporary in style, with sleek furnishings, polished wooden floors and striped fabrics. A flatscreen TV and either a balcony or terrace come as standard, too.
Twin rooms sleep up to three with twin beds and an extra bed. They've got a contemporary but cosy feel about them with sleek, dark-wood furniture, whitewashed walls and striped fabrics. Big patio doors let in plenty of light and lead out to a balcony or terrace. Each room is kitted out with a flatscreen TV.
I travelled with my mum to the Castell Playa from the 24th July through the the 31st July 2015. We chose the Castell Playa based on the fact it is ''Adults-only', as it was just the two of us wanting a relaxing holiday, as well as, choosing the Arenal d'en Castell area which is a lovely resort. Upon arrival you are welcomed by the staff who are helpful and very polite. The rooms are fairly standard, and the hallways seem run-down, which is fine if you aren't planning on spending all your time at the hotel. The facilities themselves are also fairly standard. If you are looking to get a decent sunbed, make sure you arrive early, even before the sun has reached your sunbed! The hotel are strict on reserving sunbeds - you cannot reserve before 10am, and it is understandable as to why! Nevertheless, if you are all-inclusive and want to stay by the pool all-day, this is perfect as you are close to the pool, bar and your room. Unbeknown to us, a Thomson Gold hotel, includes a variety of entertainment throughout each day (from 10-6). We were looking for a quiet holiday, but we were surprised that games and quizzes were a regular occurrence throughout the day. This is great if you are looking for light entertainment and the Thomson staff were good, but this just wasn't for us. Instead we opted for the local beach, which is a 10-15 minute trip down plenty of stairs, but the hotel do offer a free shuttle-service down there, if you don't wish to walk! The local beach is lovely and to hire 2 sunbeds and a parasol is 15 Euro for the day - which we were pretty happy with! In terms of food, we weren't all that impressed. I wouldn't say there was a wide variety, but there were options for different meats and side dishes. Again, if you are all-inclusive this is fine, but as half-board customers, we struggled with the fact that at dinner standard soft-drinks and water were not included! Having stayed at a 3* hotel, also in Menorca, which offered half-board customers soft drinks at dinner, this was a big shock to me, as the Castell Playa is a 4* hotel? If drinks were included in breakfast, I don't see much difference in not providing, water at the least, included in dinner? Nevertheless, the views are fantastic and I would definitely recommend paying extra for a sea-view room - and if you are awake early enough, the sunrise from your balcony is beautiful! In terms of activities, Thomson offer fantastic excursions around the island, which I would recommend looking into. Overall, I would not rate this hotel a 4*, as I don't believe it lives up to a 4* reputation. We had a lovely holiday, but most of it was spent away from the hotel. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for an all-inclusive retreat.More

Watch out for the cut off in the all inclusive.
This was unacceptable we lost five hours of beverages till we were picked up.The other point is the high charge for the safe 27.65 for one week excessive.Having pointed out these negatives we had a wonderful holiday, great views, entertainment was fair and it passed the evenings for us.The staff worked fast and efficiently. We will not return to the resort although the views were stunning we were unable to go walking as it was very hilly around the area and in the heat was too much for us.Great for a restful holiday.More

Great Relaxing Holiday
The overall feeling of this holiday was that it was a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday if you are looking to just sit by the pool. The hotel itself is a lovely hotel, well maintained with very helpful staff always on hand to do what they can to make your holiday better. A nice touch being the morning water walk round, which they hand out bottles of water. They continue this wait-on service throughout the day, although this can sometimes be a wait if there are a lot of orders. You do have to sign each order which is a bit of a pain but you soon get over this. With it being Thomson Gold, there are activities going on throughout the day, which you are not pushed to be involved in which is great, yet the pool cricket gets everyone involved whether you are actively playing or not which is a good element. The food was to a very high standard, fitting the all inclusive food bill. Although the grill could be better with another chef, it is a minor issue when there is plenty more on offer. Themed nights also provide an extra taste. The room was a modern, spacious area with all the necessities available (Tea making facilities, fridge, shower gel/shampoo), with TV showing BBC 1 & 2 and a lovely bathroom. The only issue is that the safe is at a cost however this is easily solved by locking valuables in a case.
In terms of the resort, it is a small and peaceful, the beach having a lovely boardwalk for a night time stroll. The beach is packed in the day but I suppose if arriving early may be better? There is a bar showing sky sports literally down the road, a pharmacy 5 minutes walk, and spar shop near the sports bar. There are only 5 minutes out of town and in the next village along a couple of other restaurants if fancied a walk. The bus routes are also available for a cheap price.
All in all if you want a relaxing holiday with very hot weather (maybe some rain though), there is no better place for price! Definitely a recommend.More

Staff go the extra mile for you
We had a wonderful week in the fiesta hotel, the staff were wonderful with lots of nice touches like cold water on the bus back from the beach when the day had been soo hot and the waiters walking round the pool during the day and at night save waiting at bar. The room was always spotless when we came back and when we left they checked our room and came down with my mobile phone which I had forgotten I had left on charge. What a hotel I would really recommend it.More
