There’s Thomson Gold entertainment every night at this hotel, though you’re just a short walk from the bars and restaurants.

This place is on a hill, looking out over the sandy bay. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the bars and restaurants. And it’s no further to the beach, yet the hotel runs a courtesy bus there.

Pretty resort

This was my first time i have visited this hotel although my partner has stayed there before. The hotel was built in the 60/70s so you have got your bog standard room which was fine, although there was a lack of draw space and the shower was over the bath which was quite high to get your leg over. We had a good size balcony overlooking the sea with stunning views. The food was good standard buffet, but avoid the steak it was all gristle, on each table there is a card with vacant on one side and occupied on the other which i thought was a very good idea for a large restaurant. In the evening the dress code for men is long trousers which i have no problem with, but why are women allowed to wear shorts that hardly cover their backsides ? Wifi is free in the lobby area but charged for in the bedroom, also there is a payment for the safe in the room. We use to sit in the quiet bar in the evening but could still hear the noise of the entertainment from the floor above. There are some lovely walks you can do, especially to Macaret which is an unspoilt Spanish village. The bus into Mahon which is worth visiting, is 2.60 euros each way compared going by Thomson which is 32euros, a complete rip off. There is also a lack of information from the Thomson reps, you have to find out yourselve the pick up time on departure, and also that early breakfast is available. Overall enjoyed the hotel and resort and will be going back again. More

Amazing holiday!!!!

Just returned from a 10 day holiday here and love this hotel and it's relaxed atmosphere. Hotel has great views over the bay but is at the top of quite a steep hill. I have previously stayed at this hotel and it was nice to be greeted by reception recognising me and asking if I have visited before as I looked familiar. This is just an extra touch that goes a long way. The rooms are a good size and kept clean by the hard working cleaning staff. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and always happy to talk to the guests. Special shout out to Jose and Jesus in bar as they would always ask me how my day was and would remember my drinks order. Katja is also the most friendly lifeguard I have met in all my travels and would go around and talk to all the guests around the pool. Anastasia the local interest expert is very knowledgeable, does a very good job and introduced me the wonder that is Pomada. Sam and Sophie are the Thomson gold entertainers and they do a fantastic job running the daytime activities and keeping everyone entertained. I had great banter with the two of them. Both are really friendly, lovely people. Sam's game of bingo was beyond funny. I would say that there could be a bit more variety on the daytime activities. Evening entertainment consists of Coverflow the resident duo 6 nights a week followed by the main act. Coverflow are a good duo and I bow down to the guitar genius that is Damon, he owned it on purple rain and hotel california. Sam and Sophie (bad harmony) fill in on Coverflows day off and are part of one of the main acts 'palladium gold' and they both have an amazing set of pipes on them and can belt out a tune. Some of the main acts weren't always to my taste but shows were always full. Thought Tom Lee and ABBA tribute were both really good even with my dodgy performance on stage with ABBA. The food in the restraunt was tasty with a good variety. Unfortunately I did find a hair in 3 different meals. The food is on a week rotation so by the second week it felt a little repetitive. There are a lot of sun loungers around the pool, unfortunately some guests still think it necessary to get to loungers from 6.45am just to get their favourite position but there always seemed to be sun loungers avaliable at all times of the day. I will also mention that the WiFi in the hotel is shocking and is very hit and miss. As mentioned at the beginning I am a returning visitor and would willingly come back again next year and recommend this hotel to one and all. Pip Pip cheerio and potentially see everyone next year.More

what a holiday

looked forward to going as we had not been to minorca before. hotel was great staff helpful and friendly. as others have before me i must give a mention to Sam and Sophie who do a great job in entertaining. no presure if you just want to relax by the pool, and the evening entertainment was very good including Sarah and damien. the food was normal inclusive food but then i am a fussy eater so had salad most of the time but i am sure normal people will find lots to choose from. we had a great holiday thanks to the people we met Malc & Pauline as well as ann & alan Elaine & Jim(bruv) and quite a few others. if you like walking or just staying around the pool it is ok but you can always hire a car to see more of the island i just could not do all those steps and hills. beach is also nice but i must give a special mention to antonio who does great omlettes in the morning and jaun & jesus in the bar thankyou all for making it a great holiday. hope i have spelt your names correctlyMore

An enjoyable holiday

Have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Fiesta Playa. We took my mother with us as she was in need of a relaxing break. This was the 3rd time at this hotel for my husband and I so it shows its pretty good. We booked a suite for ourselves and a twin for my mother. The suite was worth every penny. For approx. £40.00 extra we had a safe in the room, a separate lounge area with plenty of additional storage, a settee, Iron & Ironing board to freshen up your clothes if required, bath robes, a complementary bottle of wine, a basket of fruit and every evening our bed sheets were turned down and two sweets were left on the pillows. The staff were fantastic as usual, they really work very hard and nothing was ever too much trouble. We could never thank them enough for making our holiday. I would especially like to thank the receptionist (her first season at this job, she was previously working behind the downstairs quiet bar). She was brilliant. The standard of food is very high and a wide selection of choices ranging from salads to freshly cooked food. Now comes the downside to this hotel. Firstly the pool area. Luckily we spent everyday down on the beach. I have been on numerous holidays over many years and I have never ever seen such congestion and chaos around the pool. There are so many sunbeds around the pool in such a small and confined area that it should carry a government health warning. Next is the resident evening entertainers. I think this must their first season. Words cannot describe the lack of talent these singers have. To hear your favourite songs being crucified nearly brought me to tears. The problem is you cannot get away from it due to the fact the open staircase is in the middle of the room which means the noise is worse downstairs. You cannot sit in the quiet bar as you cannot get away from the noise.. For a Thomson Gold Hotel the entertainment was 'putting it politely' Dire. We spent every evening outside the hotel entrance with our drinks trying to avoid the noise. We have now decided that this will be our last visit to this hotel for a while as the entertainment is just getting worse.More
