Fiesta Hotel Castell Playa

There’s Thomson Gold entertainment every night at this hotel, though you’re just a short walk from the bars and restaurants.

This place is on a hill, looking out over the sandy bay. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the bars and restaurants. And it’s no further to the beach, yet the hotel runs a courtesy bus there.

There’s a good-sized pool with a roomy sun terrace. For meals, there’s a buffet restaurant, and you also get a choice of bars. As for entertainment, you can see professional acts, cabaret and live music by the pool.

Excellent Stay!

We have just returned from 10 days at the Fiesta Playa and like most other reviews we have to say what a fantastic holiday experience. Of course, the first plus is that there are no children. How lovely to be able to relax by the pool without children screaming their heads off. All the staff at the resort are fantastic; from the moment you check in to the moment you leave, they cannot do enough to assist you, whatever your needs. We must say a big thank you to Paco, the barman around the pool; as other guests have said, he never stops running. Also a big thank you to Jesus and Josie who constantly delivered our drinks to our sunbeds every afternoon without having to move an inch. The food in the restaurant was consistently good with lots of variety. We did go out one night just to break up the week and there are some really good resturants not far from the hotel and very inexpensive. The evening entertainment was varied although we did get slightly bored with Mellow Yellow every day. Well done to the entertainment team, especially Mark and Lucy who got seriously involved, and thank you for making the cricket a really good laugh!! As stated the beach is quite a trek back up the hill but you can always get the courtesy bus. I think the 15 euros for the day for two sunbeds and an umbrella on the beach is rather steep but then the beach and the water are beautiful and well worth spending the day there. The only downside is around the hotel pool. You are crammed in like sardines and if you did go out for a couple of hours you would have no chance of getting a sunbed when you returned. The hotel has put up a sign about not reserving sunbeds before you go to breakfast but this is not enforced and should be. All in all I would recommend this hotel. We had a sea view which was well worth it as pool view rooms have sun in the afternoon which makes them exceptionally hot. Go, you won't be disappointed!More

Amazing holiday!

5* service from the minute you walk through the door, from every member of staff. We had a sea view room which was well worth paying a little extra for. Lovely touch to have the entertainment outside. The team worked hard to provide something for everyone. Food was excellent, lots of choice and really good quality. Only minor negative was that around the pool was a bit crowded. Beach not far at all and beautiful. Restaurants around seemed very good value for money although we were all inclusive so didn't experience too many. Can't wait for next year!! More

Fiesta Castell Playa - Watch Out For The Extras!!!!

We have just returned from the Fiesta in Arenal Castell and generally had a great time. The hotel was clean, modern and the staff were very nice. The pool area was a bit crowded so we spent virtually all of the time on the beach which was stunning. We also went on 2 Thomson excursions which I would highly recommend (Memories of Menorca which takes in Mahon and Cituadella which was a half day). We thought the food at the hotel was average. There were some nice dishes but generally the food seemed a bit bland. The things which we got quite annoyed about are below: - Don't charge extras for the following Borrowing An Iron + Ironing Board (5 euro 25!!!!) Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice For Breakfast (3 euros) I can't see how any hotel can charge for the above. Get this sorted as it is laughable. If Premier Inn can provide these for £60 a night I'm sure you can. - Volume Control on the entertainment after 11pm We don't wan't to be party poopers but if you have to be up at 7am for a Thomson Excursion at 8.45am you don't wan't to be kept awake until 1am by extremely loud music. If you are overlooking the pool even ear plugs won't keep the noise out! We asked to move but we were told there were no rooms available. 3/5 - This has the potential to be an amazing hotel as the staff are great and the hotel is modern and well maintained. It is in a stunning location near an amazing beach. Stop the crazy extra charges, improve the food quality slightly and respect volume levels after 11pm and we would happily return.More

First Thomson Gold Experience

Stayed at the Fiesta Hotel Castell Playa for two weeks at the beginning of July - the first time in a Thomson Gold hotel. We had a suite with a sea view. The room was very spacious and clean. The safe was included which would otherwise cost almost four euros a day - the most expensive we've ever encountered. Although not fans of all inclusive, we took this option as we read the area was relatively quiet with limited options outside the hotel. There are a couple of bars and several restaurants to enjoy a drink or meal but overall, we are glad we chose this option. The food was excellent in every respect - plenty of choice and always hot. The biggest asset of this hotel is the staff. With only one exception in the restaurant (a young waitress who didn't seem to want to be there and would start chatting to colleagues as you were just about to order your drinks), all the staff were fantastic; the reception, cleaners, restaurant cooks and waiters/waitresses, bar staff and staff around the pool area - all outstanding in every respect. Special mention for Ludmila and Noelia, two lovely ladies who kept us watered day and night, also Paco - this guy works harder than anyone we've ever encountered. The entertainment was very good with some excellent acts. As mentioned by previous reviewers, the resident duo Mellow Yellow was very good with a wide variety of music (I forgive you for not singing any of the Emmylou Harris songs I requested!) The resort itself is relatively quiet but the beach and sea was as good as we've ever encountered - including a holiday to Mauritius last year. It is quite a drop down to the beach and quite a climb back up but we're in our fifties and managed it in very hot weather without too much of a problem. There is a free hotel courtesy bus that runs both ways every hour. Overall we had a wonderful holiday. This was our first visit to this lovely island but won't be our last. It really is a beautiful place and the Spanish people are polite, courteous and honest. A final word regarding the Thomson staff; without applying any pressure to those who just wanted to relax, they worked tirelessly throughout the day and evening to entertain the guests. They were among the best we've ever encountered and are a credit to the Tui group.More

my experience

Just returned from a week at this hotel. Very relaxing the staff cannot do enough for you. Reception staff all helpful and very pleasant. If around the pool area you dont need to move as bar staff ensure everyone has drinks al very hsrd working. Hotel very clean. Food really good. Only downside for me the pool wasn't cleaned early enough as it was so hot unable to use before 10am. On top of a steep hill some struggled with this. All thompson staff provided entertainment all day and they never asked individuals unlike other hotels it was there if you wanted to participate if you didn't that was fine, all of them cant do enough for you. We went half board but if returned would go all inclusive. Not much in surrounding area x 2 bars and a few restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.More
